Composition comprising an oxygenated solvent and a siloxane solvent for the removal of silicone deposits
A solvent composition has an oxygenated solvent and a siloxane solvent. In one embodiment, the oxygenated solvent is propylene glycol methyl ether and the siloxane solvent is hexamethyldisiloxane or octamethyltrisiloxane. In another embodiment, the solvent composition is an azeotrope of propylene glycol n-butyl ether and decamethyltetrasiloxane. The siloxane solvent can be used in any situation where one desires to remove a silicone deposit, e.g., conformal coatings, adhesives, sealants, greases, heat transfer fluids, paints, oils, etc.
Silicone copolymers production thereof and use thereof for treatment of fibrous substrates
Low molecular weight silicone copolymers prepared by reacting an oxamido ester-terminated silicone with a polyetheramine and a primary or secondary amine are useful in treating fabrics to obtain a soft hand and also hydrophilicity, and can be prepared without the use of highly toxic reagents.
Siloxane/hydrocarbon compositions and cleaning method using the same
The compositions include a methylated siloxane liquid and a solvent comprising at least one of a ketone or ester each having up to six carbon atoms, a halogenated alkane having up to two carbon atoms, tetrachloroethene, 1-chloro-4-trifluoromethyl benzene, or ethane. The compositions can also include hydrocarbon solvent comprising at least one of toluene, xylene, or a saturated hydrocarbon represented by formula C.sub.xH.sub.2x+y, wherein x is from 5 to 8, and wherein y is 0 or 2 and/or propellant. The method can include applying the composition to a brake system component to clean the brake system component. The method can also include applying a composition including hexamethyldisiloxane to a brake system component to clean the brake system component.
Clear shampoo composition containing silicone polymers
A clear shampoo composition containing a silicone emulsion and a detersive surfactant. The silicone emulsion contains one or more silicone polymers that can be a polyorganosiloxane compound containing one or more quaternary ammonium groups, silicone blocks comprising between about 99 and about 199 siloxane units on average, at least one polyalkylene oxide structural unit; and at least one terminal ester group.
Method of using personal and home care compositions containing a sol-gel derived material
Disclosed is a method for removing fatty oil from a surface containing the fatty oil comprising the steps of applying to the surface containing the fatty oil a composition comprising a sol-gel derived material, the sol-gel derived material including a plurality of alkylsiloxy substituents and the sol-gel derived material obtained from (a) at least one first alkoxysilane precursor having the formula:
(RO).sub.3Si(CH.sub.2).sub.nAr(CH.sub.2).sub.mSi(OR).sub.3(1)
where n and m are individually an integer from 1 to 8, Ar is a single-, fused-, or poly-aromatic ring, and each R is independently a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 alkyl group and (b) optionally, at least one second precursor having the formula: ##STR00001## where x is 1, 2, 3 or 4; y is 0, 1, 2, 3; z is 0, 1; the total of x+y+z is 4; each R is independently an organic functional group; each an R is independently a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 alkyl group and R is an organic bridging group and then moving the composition from the surface to remove the fatty oil.
Anti-foam compositions comprising an organopolysiloxane with adjacent hydrolysable groups
The present application relates to anti-foam compositions and methods of making and using such compositions as well as consumer products that comprise such compositions and the use of same. Such anti-foam compositions have low viscosities yet are effective antifoamers.
Multi-purpose protectant compositions and methods comprising an organosilane with hydrolyzable groups
Multi-purpose protectant compositions and methods of manufacture and application thereof. The multipurpose protectant compositions comprise a mixture of an aqueous solution of an organosilane. The solution may also contain surfactants and fragrance from natural and artificial sources. The multi-purpose protectant scompositiona are sprayed on any surface, allowed to cure, and result in long-lasting surface protection. The protectant compositions have a long shelf life and resistance to thermal degradation.
