An agricultural implement includes at least one row unit having a plurality of support members, each of which is pivotably coupled to an attachment frame or another of the support members to permit vertical pivoting vertical movement of the support members, and a plurality of soil-engaging tools, each of which is coupled to at least one of the support members. A plurality of hydraulic cylinders are coupled to the support members for urging the support members downwardly toward the soil. A plurality of controllable pressure control valves are coupled to the hydraulic cylinders for controlling the pressure of hydraulic fluid supplied to the cylinders. A plurality of sensors produce electrical signals corresponding to predetermined conditions, and a controller is coupled to the sensor and the controllable pressure control valves. The controller receives the electrical signals from the sensors and produces control signals for controlling the pressure control valves.

A wireless control system may include a controller and portable computing device. The controller may be configured to communicate with the portable computing device so that an operator may set a specific value and/or parameters in which the hydraulic cylinder may operate. In an aspect, the hydraulic cylinder may be engaged with a row cleaner assembly, and in another aspect it may be engaged with a closing wheel, and in yet another aspect it may be engaged with a furrow forming assembly.

System and method for controlling agricultural product application based on residue coverage

In one embodiment, one or more tangible, non-transitory, machine-readable media comprising instructions configured to cause a processor to receive a signal indicative of a residue coverage on a surface of an agricultural field from a sensor, and the sensor is positioned in front of a row unit of an agricultural product application system relative to a direction of travel. Further, the instructions are configured to cause the processor to determine the residue coverage on the surface of the agricultural field based on the signal, and the residue coverage includes a percentage of the agricultural field that is covered by residue, an evenness of the residue, or a combination thereof. Moreover, the instructions are configured to cause the processor to control an agricultural product control system of the agricultural product application system based on the residue coverage.

TILLING APPARATUS
20240032448 · 2024-02-01 ·

A tilling apparatus and a method of tilling soils which includes the use of a rotational shaft having a number of cutter assemblies located at spaced apart locations on the shaft in which each cutter assembly has a multitude of blades which rotate as the rotary shaft rotates to form a plurality of spaced apart trenches having the same spacing as the spacing of the cutters, and a width caused by the width of the blades. As the blades dig the trench, the soil contacted by the blades is granulated and is tossed about by the spinning blades so that some soil falls back into the trench and some falls along the periphery of the trench to form rows of aerated granules which promote enhanced growth of plants or seeds in the trench and along the edge of the trench to improve the yield of pasture having the trenches. Various attachments can be provided on the tilling apparatus, either in front of or towards the rear of the spinning blades for different purposes, such as rippers, seeders, levellers, or similar. The advantage of the tilling apparatus is that the soil is formed into granules which are used to form an aerated array of soil granules having enhanced growing properties for plants.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING ROW CLEANER AGGRESSIVENESS OF A SEED-PLANTING IMPLEMENT
20240049622 · 2024-02-15 ·

A system for determining row cleaner aggressiveness of a seed-planting implement includes a row cleaner assembly having a row cleaner arm and a row cleaner wheel rotatably coupled to the row cleaner arm. Furthermore, the system includes an optical flow sensor configured to generate data indicative the movement of soil particles within a field across which the seed-planting implement is traveling relative to the seed-planting implement. Additionally, a computing system of the disclosed system includes is configured to determine a flow parameter associated with the movement of the soil particles relative to the seed-planting implement based on the data generated by the optical flow sensor. Furthermore, the computing system is configured to determine an aggressiveness parameter indicative of the amount of engagement between the row cleaner wheel and the surface of the field based on the determined flow parameter.
