AUTOMATED IMAGE ANALYSIS FOR DIAGNOSING A MEDICAL CONDITION

Aspects of the technology described herein relate to techniques for guiding an operator to use an ultrasound device. Thereby, operators with little or no experience operating ultrasound devices may capture medically relevant ultrasound images and/or interpret the contents of the obtained ultrasound images. For example, some of the techniques disclosed herein may be used to identify a particular anatomical view of a subject to image with an ultrasound device, guide an operator of the ultrasound device to capture an ultrasound image of the subject that contains the particular anatomical view, and/or analyze the captured ultrasound image to identify medical information about the subject.

Method for Obtaining an Indication about the Image Quality of a Digital Image
20230197246 · 2023-06-22 · ·

The invention relates to a method to give an indication about the image quality of a digital image in comparison to what the expected image quality in terms of image content and technical image quality parameters would be for a similar exposure type. The method evaluates whether parameters of the acquired image such as noise and dynamic range match the expectations for the intended exposure type, and whether certain regions of interest are present and properly presented in the image.

AUTOMATED REGION OF INTEREST PLACEMENT
20170347992 · 2017-12-07 ·

A method displays an ultrasound image of subject tissue that defines a region of interest, the image acquired in a first measurement mode. In response to an operator instruction, the method switches to a second measurement mode, analyzes the subject tissue within the region of interest for compatibility with the second measurement mode, and highlights one or more areas of the subject tissue for removal from the region of interest, displaying a revised region of interest according to the mode compatibility analysis. One or more signals for the second measurement mode are directed to the revised region of interest and measurement results displayed.

MAKING MEASUREMENTS OF THE HIP
20230186504 · 2023-06-15 ·

In a method for making a measurement of the hip in an ultrasound image, an ultrasound image of the hip is obtained. A spatial coherence map associated with one or more lags of the ultrasound waves associated with the ultrasound image is also obtained. Then a quality metric is determined based on the ultrasound image of the hip and the spatial coherence map. The quality metric indicates the suitability of the ultrasound image for making the measurement of the hip. If the quality metric indicates that the ultrasound image is above a threshold quality, then the method then comprises indicating that the ultrasound image is suitable for making the measurement of the hip.

Angle oriented array for medical ultrasound

Volume scanning along different planes is provided using angling of the elements. Rather than orthogonal dicing of the slab, kerfs are formed at non-parallel and non-perpendicular angles to the azimuth axis of the array or longitudinal axis of the slab. Apertures formed from selected groups of the angled elements and/or parts of angled elements may be used to steer along planes that extend at an angle of 5 degrees or more away from the azimuth or longitudinal axis. By walking the aperture, different parallel planes are scanned with a one-dimensional array of elements.

System and Method for Automatic Association and Display of Video Loop Subject Matter for Enhanced Identification

An imaging system and a method for displaying information regarding the subject matter of an ultrasound image or ultrasound video loop on a display includes the steps of detecting one or more organs in the ultrasound image or ultrasound video loop, creating a representative thumbnail image utilizing the ultrasound image or a frame of the ultrasound video loop, selecting an organ icon representing the one or more organs detected in the ultrasound image or ultrasound video loop, and presenting the organ icon in association with the thumbnail image on the display. The system and method can also create search-identifiable information relating to the one or more organs detected in the ultrasound image or ultrasound video loop, and store the search-identifiable information in the electronic memory in association with the image or the image video loop and the thumbnail image with the organ icon.

Object identification

Apparatus and methods are described including, using a computer processor, automatically identifying whether a given pixel within an image corresponds to a portion of an object. A set of concentric circles that are disposed around the pixel are sampled, and a first function is applied to each of the circles such that the circles are defined by a first set of rotationally invariant descriptors. A second function is applied to the set of circles to generate a second set of descriptors, each of which represents a difference between respective pairs of the circles. A third function is applied such that the second set of descriptors becomes rotationally invariant. The processor identifies whether the given pixel corresponds to the portion of the object, based upon the first and second sets of rotationally invariant descriptors. Other applications are also described.

A method is disclosed for generating sinograms by sampling a plurality of transducers acoustically coupled with the surface of a volume of tissue over a period of time after a light pulse at one wavelength, and after another light pulse at a different wavelength, and for processing those sinograms, reconstructing at least two optoacoustic images from the two sinograms, processing the two optoacoustic images to generate two envelope images and generating a parametric map from information in the two envelope images. In an embodiment, motion and tracking are determined to align the envelope images. In an embodiment, at least a second parametric map is produced from information in the same two envelope images. In an embodiment an ultrasound image is also acquired, and the parametric map is coregistered with and overlayed upon the ultrasound image, and then displayed.
