A multi-functional endosurgical device (1) comprises a tube (3), an end effector (21), and a device operating part (4). The tube (3) several lengthwise extending channels (9) for supplying a liquid and suction to the end effector (21) and to apply current to perform diathermy. A slide rail assembly (5) comprises at a main slide guide body (46) that accommodates an end effector slider (47) and a junction slider (48). The end effector slider (47) slides in the guideway (54) and is connected to the effector sleeve (17) through one of the lengthwise extending channels to operate said effector sleeve (17) in relation to the end effector. The junction slider (48) also slides in the guideway (54) downstream the end effector slider (47). The junction slider (48) is connected to the tube (3) to arrange at least a first lengthwise extending channel (9), a second lengthwise extending channel (10) and a third lengthwise extending channel (15) of the tube (3) in communication with the end effector (21).

MRI biopsy apparatus incorporating a sleeve and multi-function obturator

An apparatus for use with a minimally invasive medical procedure into human breast tissue includes a cannula and an obturator. The cannula includes an open distal end, a lateral opening proximate to the open distal end, and a longitudinal lumen communicating with the lateral opening and the open distal end. The lumen has a non-circular cross-section. The obturator is sized for insertion into the cannula. The obturator has a distal end extending from the open distal end of the cannula when the obturator is inserted fully into the cannula. The obturator has a recess proximate of the distal end of the obturator. The recess is positioned along a portion of the length of the obturator to align with the lateral opening of the cannula when the obturator is inserted fully into the cannula.

Debulking catheters and methods

A method of removing material from a blood flow lumen includes providing a device having a cutting element and an opening, the cutting element being movable relative to the opening. The method then includes advancing the device through a patient's vascular system to the blood flow lumen. Finally, the method involves moving the cutting element and the opening relative to the blood flow lumen so that a continuous piece of material is severed by the cutting element and directed into the opening as the cutting element and opening move through the blood flow lumen, the continuous piece of severed material being directed into the device for removal from the patient. The method may include providing a device having a rotatable cutter that, in some embodiments, is not parallel to the longitudinal axis of the device, is movable, has retracted and deployed positions, or any combination thereof. The method may further include forcing the opening toward the wall of the vascular site after the advancing step and before the moving step.

An apparatus comprising: a sheath comprising a plurality of openings at a distal end; an elongate first needle extendible perpendicularly from said sheath through one of said plurality of openings; and an assembly comprising at least two second needles arranged in a predetermined pattern relative to said first needle, and extendible perpendicularly from said sheath, wherein, when extended from said distal end of said sheath: (i) each of said second needles extends a different length from said distal end of said sheath, (ii) at least a distal portion of each of said second needles is resiliently biased to extend laterally outwardly in relation to said first needle, and (iii) a lateral spread region defined by said distal portions of all of said second needles is determined based, at least in part, on a distance of said extending from said distal end of said sheath.

A TISSUE SPECIMEN COLLECTOR FOR USE IN BIOPSY

A tissue specimen collector (8; 132), which is adapted for collecting tissue specimens during a biopsy procedure, is a multi-chamber collector having a main collector housing (58; 133) and a collector rack (59; 138) arranged lengthwise displaceable inside the main collector housing (58; 133). The collector rack (59; 138) has a series of adjacent chambers (60; 143) for accommodating tissue specimens, and said main collector housing (58; 133) has a collector port (71a; 167) adapted to connect to a supply of tissue specimens to receive tissue specimens in each consecutive chamber of the serious of adjacent chambers in the order they are resected from suspicious tissue.

Biopsy tissue sample transport device and method of using thereof

A biopsy tissue sample transport device and method of using thereof including a tissue storage assembly having a sample container, having a holding structure to hold a tissue sample, the holding structure having a sample access opening formed in a sidewall; a housing that receives the tissue storage assembly, the housing comprising an assembly insertion opening through which the tissue storage assembly is inserted into the housing; a sealing member configured to engage and substantially seal the sample access opening of the holding structure of the sample container of the tissue storage assembly; and a lid to engage and substantially seal the assembly insertion opening of the housing.

A biopsy device includes a body, a needle, a cutter, a tissue sample holder, and a sample stopping assembly. The needle extends distally from the body. The cutter is longitudinally translatable relative to the needle and defines a cutter lumen. The tissue sample holder is coupled proximally relative to the body. The cutter lumen of the cutter defines at least a portion of a fluid conduit extending between a distal end of the cutter and the tissue sample holder. The sample stopping assembly includes a rotatable strainer that is configured to selectively arrest movement of a tissue sample within the fluid conduit between the cutter and the tissue sample holder.

Biopsy device with slide-in probe

An exemplary ultrasound biopsy device includes a probe and a holster. The probe is insertable into the holster to form a completed assembly. To assemble the probe to the holster, the probe is initially slid laterally onto the holster and then slid forward to latch the probe into engagement with the holster. The holster is coupled to a vacuum control module by one or more conduits and a power cable. The conduits and/or power cable may be retracted into the vacuum control module. The probe of the biopsy device includes a blade assembly at the distal end. The blade assembly comprises a blade that snaps onto a nosecone via a pair of resilient notched ends. A frictional fitting needle cover can be inserted over the needle and blade assembly to protect the user from the sharp blade.
