Push-to-close actuated dual action spaced pivot assembly for surgical instrument jaws, blades, and forceps

A push-to-close actuated, dual-action, spaced pivot, assembly for jaws, blades, and forceps devices. The assembly is structured for use with a push rod, cable, or solid wire forceps actuator surgical instrument. A jaw receiving body of the assembly is adapted to receive a wide variety of types of jaws performing different surgical functions. Two separate moving jaws each pivot about a separate spaced pivot pin, on opposite sides of the jaw body centerline. A handle with a pushing actuating rod provides a pushing motion to a drive rod, cable, or solid wire within a cable sheath to push a connected yoke in the assembly to push against the jaws to close the jaws together.

A medical insertion device includes an elongated shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having flexibility sufficient for insertion through a working channel of an endoscope along a tortuous path. The elongated shaft includes a coil extending from the proximal end to the distal end and having a channel extending longitudinally therethrough and a braided portion extending around a portion of the coil, the braided portion including a plurality of lines wound together such that first and second ones of the lines intersect to enclose a predetermined angle therebetween, the angle being between 25 and 55 degrees.

Microwave ablation system

A method for treating tissue through a branched luminal network of a patient is provided. A pathway to a point of interest in branched luminal network of a patient is generated. An extended working channel is advanced transorally into the branched luminal network and along the pathway to the point of interest. The extended working channel may be positioned in a substantially fixed orientation at the point interest. A tool is advanced though the extended working channel to the point of interest. Tissue at the point of interest is treated.

Electrosurgical probe for delivering RF and microwave energy

An energy delivery system for performing tissue ablation at the distal end of an Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy (ENB) instrument. The system is insertable through an instrument channel of a steerable instrument cord in an ENB instrument, and comprise a coaxial cable with a radiating tip portion. The tip portion comprises a first conductive element electrically connected to the coaxial cable's inner conductor and a second conductive element electrically isolated from the inner conductor. The conductive elements are arranged to act as: an active electrode and a return electrode for delivering the RF energy into tissue surrounding the radiating tip portion, and an antenna for radiating the microwave energy as a localized microwave field. The system may be arranged to delivery energy according to a predetermined profile comprising interleaving periods of RF and microwave energy or a combination thereof, or a dynamic profile based on detected tissue impedance.

ENDOSURGICAL DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE

A method for treating or diagnosing cancer with and endosurgical device comprising at least two lengthwise extending channels (2,3,4,5; 2′,3′,4′,5′), two opposite jaws (9,10;9′,10′;9″,10″) with use of diathermy and flushing a tissue specimen to a proximal end of the endosurgical device. The method allows the surgeon to take several tissue specimens from an organ and to perform several functionalities when the device is inside the organ. The endosurgical device for use in the method is also disclosed.
