System and method for intraoperative surgical planning
The subject matter includes systems, methods, and prosthetic devices for joint reconstruction surgery. A computer-assisted intraoperating planning method can include accessing a first medical image providing a first view of a joint within a surgical site as well as receiving selection of a first component of a modular prosthetic device implanted in the first bone of the joint. The method continues by displaying a graphical representation of the first component of the modular prosthetic device overlaid on the first medical image, and updating a graphical representation of the first component based on receiving positioning inputs representative of an implant location of the first component relative to landmarks on the first bone visible within the first medical image. The method concludes by presenting a selection interface enabling visualization of additional components of the modular prosthetic device virtually connected to the first component and overlaid on the first medical image.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTION AND ILLUMINATION OF REGIONS OF INTEREST
An illumination system for a lighting assembly comprises a light assembly configured to selectively illuminate an operating region in a surgical suite and a plurality of light sources positioned within the light assembly and configured to emit light. The system further comprises at least one imager configured to capture image data and a controller. The controller is configured to scan the image data in at least one region of interest for a shaded region and identify a location of the shaded region within the region of interest. The controller is further configured to control the light assembly to activate at least one of the light sources to emit light impinging on the shaded region within the region of interest.
IMEDICAL INSTRUMENT DRIVE ASSEMBLY AND DOCKING SYSTEM
A medical instrument drive assembly includes a base portion, a first set of one or more drive outputs, a platform secured to the base portion, and a latching mechanism. The first set of one or more drive outputs are coupled to and/or extending from the base portion and are configured to drive a first medical instrument. The platform is secured to the base portion and movable between an elevated configuration and a depressed configuration. The platform is biased in the elevated configuration. The latching mechanism is configured to cause the platform to be held in the depressed configuration.
Systems, methods, and computer-readable program products for controlling a robotically delivered manipulator
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for controlling a robotically delivered manipulator. One system includes a robotic manipulator having a base and a surgical instrument holder configured to move relative to the base, a surgical instrument removably coupled to the surgical instrument holder, a user interface configured to present information related to least one of the robotic manipulator or the surgical instrument, a gesture detection sensor configured to detect a gesture made by a user representing a desired movement of the robotic manipulator, and a controller configured to actuate the robotic manipulator in a predetermined manner corresponding to the detected gesture.
Systems, devices, and methods for forming an anastomosis
Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for treating heart failure. In some variations, a catheter for forming an anastomosis in a heart may comprise a first catheter comprising an electrode. A second catheter may be slidably disposed within the first catheter. The second catheter may comprise a barb and a dilator comprising a mating surface configured to engage the electrode.
LEVERAGING TWO-DIMENSIONAL DIGITAL IMAGING AND COMMUNICATION IN MEDICINE IMAGERY IN THREE-DIMENSIONAL EXTENDED REALITY APPLICATIONS
A surgical system includes an XR headset and an XR headset controller. The XR headset is configured to be worn by a user during a surgical procedure and includes a see-through display screen configured to display an XR image for viewing by the user. The XR headset controller is configured to receive a plurality of two-dimensional (“2D”) image data associated with an anatomical structure of a patient. The XR headset controller is further configured to generate a first 2D image from the plurality of 2D image data based on a pose of the XR headset. The XR headset controller is further configured to generate a second 2D image from the plurality of 2D image data based on the pose of the XR headset. The XR headset controller is further configured to generate the XR image by displaying the first 2D image in a field of view of a first eye of the user and displaying the second 2D image in a field of view of a second eye of the user.
Apparatus and method for using a remote control system in surgical procedures
A system and method for using a remote control to control an electrosurgical instrument, where the remote control includes at least one momentum sensor. As the surgeon rotates their hand mimicking movements of a handheld electrosurgical instrument, the movements are translated and sent to the remote controlled (RC) electrosurgical instrument. The surgeon uses an augmented reality (AR) vision system to assist the surgeon in viewing the surgical site. Additionally, the surgeon can teach other doctors how to perform the surgery by sending haptic feedback to slave controllers. Also, the surgeon can transfer control back and forth between the master and slave controller to allow a learning surgeon to perform the surgery, but still allow the surgeon to gain control of the surgery whenever needed. Also, the surgeon could be located at a remote location and perform the surgery with the assistance of the AR vision system.
Registration of surgical tool with reference array tracked by cameras of an extended reality headset for assisted navigation during surgery
A camera tracking system is disclosed for computer assisted navigation during surgery. The camera tracking system is configured to identify a reference array tracked by a set of tracking cameras attached to an extended reality (XR) headset, and determine whether the reference array is registered as being paired with characteristics of one of a plurality of surgical tools defined in a surgical tool database. The camera tracking system is further configured to, based on the reference array being determined to not be registered and receiving user input, register the reference array to be paired with characteristics of one of the plurality of surgical tools selected based on the user input. The camera tracking system is further configured to provide a representation of the characteristics to a display device of the XR headset for display to the user.
METHODS FOR ACTIVELY ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING TELEOPERATION OF A SURGICAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM
A method for engaging and disengaging a surgical instrument of a surgical robotic system including receiving a sequence of user inputs from one or more user interface devices of the surgical robotic system; determining, by one or more processors communicatively coupled to the user interface devices and the surgical instrument, whether the sequence of user inputs indicates an intentional engagement or disengagement of a teleoperation mode in which the surgical instrument is controlled by user inputs received from the user interface devices; in response to determining of engagement, transition the surgical robotic system into the teleoperation mode; and in response to determining of disengagement, transition the surgical robotic system out of the teleoperation mode such that the user interface devices are prevented from controlling the surgical instrument.
