SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLABLE ACCESS OF TOOLS TO ELEVATED TISSUES
The present subject matter provides a system for allowing controlled access of a tool to all sides of an elevated tissue in body of a patient, the system including: a rail configured to surround the elevated tissue; and at least one vehicle configured to move along the rail and carry at least one tool configured to manipulate the elevated tissue. Also provided is a method for cutting an elevated tissue in a body of a patient, the method including: inserting a rail to a vicinity of the elevated tissue; surrounding the elevated tissue with the rail; placing a vehicle on the rail; connecting a cutting device to the vehicle; and moving the vehicle along the rail while cutting the elevated tissue with the cutting device. Additional embodiments of the system and method are disclosed herein.
Rollable tissue specimen bag with improved brim for tenting
A tissue specimen retrieval bag assembly includes a tissue specimen bag having an open proximal end and a closed distal end, the proximal end including a cuff defined therein and extending therearound. A flexible bag brim is disposed within the cuff, the flexible bag brim transitionable between a first, collapsed configuration and a second, expanded configuration. The flexible bag brim includes a D-Shaped cross section configured to facilitate both furling the tissue specimen bag onto itself around the bag brim when the bag brim is disposed in the second, expanded configuration and securing the tissue specimen bag in a desired furled configuration. The flexible bag brim defines a cavity therein configured to facilitate compression thereof and to facilitate handling of the bag brim by a surgical instrument.
Free standing bag with integrated cutting guard interface
A kit for extracting a tissue specimen includes a specimen container having a proximal rim and a specimen bag operably supported about the proximal rim and depending therefrom. The specimen bag includes a plurality of ribs depending from the proximal rim having a series of mechanical interfaces associated therewith and extending therealong. The kit also includes a cutting guard having a body with proximal and distal ends. The distal end is configured for insertion within the specimen bag when disposed within an incision and the proximal end defines an opening therein configured to facilitate introduction of one or more surgical instruments therethrough. The cutting guard includes one or mechanical interfaces operably associated with the body of the cutting guard configured to selectively engage one of the series of mechanical interfaces of one of the plurality of ribs of the specimen container upon insertion of the cutting guard within the incision.
ENDOSCOPY INSTRUMENT
An endoscopy instrument is configured to be adjustable between a retracted position and an extended position. The endoscopy instrument includes a snare forming a loop extending from a proximate end to a distal end and a plurality of basket wires. Each of the basket wires includes a proximate end coupled to the proximate end of the snare and a distal end coupled to the distal end of the snare. The snare and the plurality of the basket wires cooperate to form a basket portion configured to contract when the endoscopy instrument is adjusted from the extended position towards the retracted position during entry of the basket portion into a tubular member. The contracting of the basket portion aids in grasping an object in need of retrieval from a patient.
Tissue specimen removal device, system and method
A tissue specimen removal device comprises a specimen bag; a flexible ring, the flexible ring configured to form a top opening of the specimen bag; a cannula assembly comprising: an inner tube portion and an outer tube portion. The device may further comprise a connector carrier, the connector carrier configured to retain at least one connector housing, the at least one connector housing comprising one or more connector portions and reside within an interior of the connector carrier, and wherein the connector carrier can be moved from a position within the cannula assembly to outside the cannula assembly.
Tissue retractor for minimally invasive surgery
Improved methods and devices for performing an endoscopic surgery including a system for performing minimally invasive procedures including a flexible catheter having a working space expanding system positioned at a distal portion, the working space expanding system movable from a non-expanded insertion position to an expanded position forming an expanded region to expand the working space within the body lumen. A tissue retractor having an inner member positioned within an outer member has a plurality of closed loops at a distal portion forming a petal-like structure. The loops are positioned in a collapsed position within the outer member and are movable to an expanded position when exposed from the outer member.
Systems and methods associated with endoscopic surgical instruments
Embodiments disclose surgical instruments for retrieving excised tissue from a patient and, more particularly, to endoscopic surgical instruments such as pouches or retrieval bags for the removal of tissue through a small incision.
Endosurgical extraction bag for collection of large specimen
Provided is an intra-abdominal tissue retrieval bag. The bag has an inflated state and a deflated state. The bag is introduced into the abdomen in a deflated state through a small incision and placed underneath the specimen to be retrieved. The bag is defined by an inflatable defining circumferential ring at the opening and an inflatable collection sac. Both inflated using external pneumo source sequentially, the same that is used to maintain pneumoperitoneum during laparoscopic surgery. After insufflation, the specimen becomes fully contained and ready for retrieval after desufflation.
CONTAINMENT BAG
A containment bag assembly for extracting a tissue specimen comprises a bag having one or more segmenting wires, an outer tube comprising a proximal and distal end, a flexible ring configured to form a top opening of the containment bag, wherein the flexible ring comprises two ring subassemblies, each having a proximal and distal end, a flexible member positioned between and coupled to the distal ends of the two ring subassemblies, wherein, when the flexible member is in a collapsed position, the two ring subassemblies are in a collapsed position and the containment bag is configured to be stored within the outer tube, and wherein, when the flexible member is in an expanded position, the two ring subassemblies and the flexible member bias the top opening of the containment bag to an open position to enable placement of the tissue specimen within the containment bag.
SEGMENTATION INSTRUMENT AND CONTROLLER
A tissue segmentation device comprises segmenting wires, a grasper, an introducer tube that is shaped and sized to allow introduction of the segmenting wires and the grasper into a patient incision, a specimen bag configured to be deployed through the introducer tube and into the patient incision, at least one actuator positioned adjacent a proximal end of the introducer tube and coupled to proximal portions of the segmenting wires and the grasper, and wherein the at least one actuator is configured for manipulating the grasper to grasp a tissue specimen prior to or during tissue segmentation, wherein manipulation of the grasper further enables pulling the tissue specimen into the segmenting wires for segmentation, positioning the tissue specimen such that it contacts the segmenting wires, and/or enabling placement of the tissue specimen in the bag.
