Systems, apparatus, and methods are described for treatment of varicocele and associated conditions. In some embodiments, systems, apparatus, and methods described herein can include forming one or more fluid connections or fistulas between blood vessels such as a gonadal vein (e.g., spermatic vein, ovarian vein) and surrounding veins. In some embodiments, systems, apparatus, and methods described herein can include occluding one or more blood vessels such as a gonadal vein (e.g., spermatic vein, ovarian vein). In some embodiments, systems, apparatus and methods described herein relate to flow diverters, replacement valves, etc., e.g., for treatment of varicocele and associated conditions.
Posterior to lateral interbody fusion approach with associated instrumentation and implants
Methods for accessing a disc space of a patient as a part of an interbody fusion, as well as the tools employed therewith. An exemplary method may include inserting a leading end of a tool into the patient's back at a location on the posterior surface that is laterally offset from a patient's spinous process and disc. The tool's initial entry into the patient may be from a posterior approach. As the tool is advanced along its designated path, it begins to deviate from the posterior approach towards a lateral approach. When the leading end reaches the disc, it may access the disc from a lateral or substantially lateral location. The tool may be used to access the disc location, to remove disc material, to deliver a cutting tool for removing the disc material, and other steps associated with the spinal interbody fusion procedure.
Biopsy methods
Methods and apparatuses for mechanically removing objects from a body. In particular, described herein are thrombectomy methods and mechanical thrombectomy apparatuses for removal of blood clots from within a lumen of a blood vessel.
Thrombectomy systems and devices and methods of using the same
Thrombectomy systems and devices and methods of using the same. In an exemplary embodiment of a thrombectomy system of the present disclosure, the thrombectomy system comprises a thrombectomy sheath, comprising a circumferential outer wall reinforced with a reinforcement, configured as an elongated tube having a lumen therethrough; and a sonovisible element positioned at or near a distal end of the circumferential outer wall; wherein the thrombectomy sheath is sized and shaped to be at least partially positioned within a vein proximal to a thrombus or other item within the vein and further configured to expand to contact the vein to secure the thrombectomy sheath within the vein; and wherein the lumen is sized and shaped to receive a device selected from the group consisting of a balloon catheter and a snare having a loop.
Endoscopic snare device
The present subject matter discloses a tissue removal tool for use with an endoscope. The tool comprises a loop formed by a piece of wire and movable between an open position and a closed position, and a transmitting assembly comprising: a handle; and a link having a first end attached to the handle and a second end attached to the loop, the loop portion being movable between the open and closed position by action of the handle. The loop is defined in the open position by a proximal portion and a distal portion. The widest portion of the loop is more proximal to a proximal end of the loop than the mid-point of the length of the loop is.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH A LOOP MADE OF A METAL WIRE
A surgical instrument with a shaft is constructed as a hollow tube and has a longitudinal axis, proximal and distal ends and a metal wire having a first end section, a shaft section and a working section. The first end section is arranged in the area of the proximal end of the shaft or is guided out of the shaft on the proximal end. The shaft section is guided in the hollow tube and the wire is arranged such that it can move along the longitudinal axis of the shaft into a first position of the working section on the distal end projecting out of the shaft and into a second position of the working section within the shaft. The instrument is constructed as a bipolar instrument, wherein the metal wire is part of a first electrode and a second electrode is arranged in some sections on the shaft.
MAGNET-ASSISTED SUTURE GRASPERS
A magnet-assisted suture grasper for grasping a magnetic suture is provided. The magnet-assisted suture grasper includes a suture retrieval needle, a retriever body, a grasper arm, and a grasper magnet. Translation of the retriever body within a needle lumen of the suture retrieval needle in a first direction causes the grasper arm to move from a first position to a second position, thereby exposing the grasper magnet and allowing contact between the grasper magnet and a magnetic suture attracted thereto. Translation of the retriever body within the needle lumen in a second direction opposite the first direction causes the grasper arm to move from the second position to the first position, thereby sequestering the grasper magnet and grasping the magnetic suture within the needle lumen. Another magnet-assisted suture grasper including a handle, a stem, first and second grasper jaws, a grasper magnet, and an actuator body also is disclosed.
MEDICAL APPARATUS WITH EMBEDDED MARKING
A medical apparatus configured for insertion directly or indirectly into a living body is provided with a coloring part having a marking formed on an outer surface. The marking has a coloring layer of an acrylic resin containing a pigment and a protective layer of a polymethacrylic ester covering the coloring layer directly or indirectly, and an upper surface of the coloring part is recessed from a part of the medical apparatus, such as a covering tube of a sheath of an endoscope treatment instrument, adjacent to the coloring part on the outer surface.
HEMOSTATIC CLIP WITH NEEDLE PASSER
A device for treating a tissue opening includes a proximal portion including an elongated flexible member, a capsule releasably coupled to a distal end of the flexible member and including a lumen extending therethrough and a clip including a pair of arms movably housed within the capsule. A suture extending along a first one of the pair of arms and including a loop at a distal end thereof extending across an opening extending through the first one of the pair of arms. A suture grabbing element extending laterally from a second one of the pair of arms and including a hook so that, when the pair of arms are moved toward a closed configuration, the hook extends through the opening to grab the loop and draw the distal end of the suture from the first one of the pair of arms toward the second one of the pair of arms.
SNARE FOR REMOVAL OF IMPLANTED CARDIAC LEADS
The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices and the use of medical devices for the treatment of vascular conditions. Particularly, the present disclosure provides devices and methods for using a snaring system to remove an implanted lead from the vasculature. A snaring system comprises an outer sheath (710) having a lumen; an inner sheath (705); a pusher (745) disposed within the lumen of the sheath, wherein the pusher comprises a longitudinal axis; a closed loop (720) having an opening, wherein the closed loop comprises a proximal extended portion, an S-curve portion and a distal extended portion, wherein the proximal extended portion of the closed loop is coupled to the pusher, wherein the proximal extended portion is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis to the pusher, wherein the pusher and the closed loop are slidable relative to the inner sheath, whereupon being in a deployed configuration, the closed loop is disposed distally of the sheath and the S-curve portion is disposed substantially perpendicular to the proximal extended portion, wherein the S-curve portion comprises a first radius and a second radius, wherein the first radius is closer to the proximal extended portion relative to the distal extended portion, wherein the second radius is closer to the distal extended portion relative to the proximal extended portion, wherein the first radius is greater than the second radius; and a threader (725) fixedly coupled to the inner sheath, whereupon the closed loop being pulled proximally, the closed loop collapses over the threader and the threader is disposed within the opening of the closed loop. In one embodiment, two opposing closed loops are provided.
