Hand-held instrument with dual zone fluid removal

An electrosurgical instrument has dual zone smoke evacuation for providing efficient capture and evacuation of smoke generated during an electrosurgical procedure. A hand piece with a proximal and a distal end is coupled to a front piece having a distal opening leading into an interior conduit. An extendable section is at least partially disposed within the interior conduit and extends distally out of the distal opening of the front piece. The extendable section is selectively translatable within the interior conduit. A negative pressure source enables the capture and evacuation of smoke through both the extendable section and the interior conduit.

Method and apparatus for passing suture

A device can pierce and hold tissue and then pass suture through tissue. The device can have a shuttle that can removably attach to a suture and jaws that can be rotatably opened and closed with respect to each other. A method for using the device to repeatedly pass the suture through the tissue without removing the suture or device from the target site is also disclosed.

MEDICAL OPERATION APPARATUS

A medical operation apparatus includes a body graspable by an operator, an operation part that is arranged to enable a part of the operation part to be moved relative to the body, and a holder that receives the fingers of the operator and transmits a movement of the fingers to the operation part. The holder includes a contact portion that comes in contact with the body, and a connector that supports a relative posture of the holder and the operation part so as to change the relative posture in accordance with a posture change of the fingers of the operator. In a relative arrangement position of the operation part and the body, when the relative posture of the holder and the operation part is changed, an amount of change in the relative arrangement position of the body and the operation part is within a specified permissible range.

Surgical instrument systems comprising battery arrangements

A surgical instrument system comprising a handle, a shaft, and a disposable power module is disclosed. The handle comprises a motor, a control switch, and a motor-control processor which is in communication with the control switch. In various instances, the disposable power module comprises a disposable battery and a display unit configured to indicate at least one function of the surgical instrument system.

PHYSICIAN-CONTROLLED HANDLE FOR MEDICAL DEVICES

A medical device includes a handle that includes a first member and a second member. Outer and inner elongate members of the medical device project from a distal end of the first member. The first and second members move, such as rotationally or pivotably move, relative to each other to control relative longitudinal movement of the outer and inner elongate members.

Unmatching/Matching UID to Robot Grasper for Engaging Teleoperation
20230145970 · 2023-05-11 ·

A surgical robotic system has a robotic grasper, a user interface device (UID), and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the UID and the robotic grasper. The system detects a directive to engage or re-engage a teleoperation mode, determines that the system is in a non-teleoperation mode, receives a sequence of user actions through the UID, determines the UID matches a jaw angle or a grip force of the robotic grasper, and transitions into teleoperation mode. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

ENDOSCOPE OVERCOVERS FOR WHEELS AND HANDLES

A medical device including a handle and a flexible member controlled by the handle, the handle including one or more knobs, each of the one or more knobs having a plurality of protrusions spaced circumferentially from one another, wherein the medical device comprises one or more grip-enhancing features configured to be removably coupled to the one or more knobs.

Instrument for isolating candidate eyelashes to attach prostheses

An instrument for isolating candidate eyelashes to attach prostheses includes an instrument tip which has a tip aperture. A candidate eyelash is disposed in a distal slot of the tip aperture. The instrument tip is advanced relative to the candidate eyelash and the instrument tip applies a force to eyelashes that are adjacent to the candidate eyelash. The application of the force actuates the eyelashes that are adjacent to the candidate eyelash away from the candidate eyelash. The candidate eyelash is actuated into an open area of the tip aperture and a prosthesis is attached to the candidate eyelash.

User arm support for use in a robotic surgical system
11642181 · 2023-05-09 · ·

A user system for a robotic surgical system, the user system including a handheld groundless user interface device configured to control the robotic surgical system, and a user console. The user console includes a seat and a first adjustable, ergonomic arm support linkage coupled to the seat, in which the first arm support linkage is movable between a folded storage configuration and at least one unfolded use configuration corresponding to at least one of a user characteristic and a surgical task characteristic. The at least one unfolded use configuration may be pre-stored in a database.

Grip force attenuator
11617595 · 2023-04-04 · ·

A handle of a device such as an endoscopic surgical appliance is provided with a grip for actuation of an effector mechanism positioned at a distal end. A grip force attenuator within the handle absorbs excessive force after the grip force required to fully actuate the effector mechanism has been reached. The handle includes a first spring which deflects in response to hand grip force up to a predetermined level for actuation of the effector mechanism and a second spring which deflects in response to hand grip force which exceeds the predetermined level without applying such excess force to the first spring.
