An apparatus and method for an articulating microsurgical instrument is disclosed herein. The articulating microsurgical instrument may be configured to be operable with a Doppler probe, bone grasper, soft tissue grasper/dissector, scissors, flexible forceps, or a suction/irrigation line configured to provide tools within a surgical location that can be adjusted to a desired angle of operation. A tip assembly may comprise an articulating portion at a distal tip and the articulating portion may be configured to deflect upon actuation of an articulation control. The articulation control may be a trigger assembly or a roller wheel. A bayonet-style handle may include a set of posts configured to interact with the one or more control wires during actuation of the articulation control. One or more control wires may be housed in a lumen and actuated using a articulation control of a handle assembly.

A surgical instrument with a handle for a surgical instrument is provided, comprising a first arm and a second arm, wherein at least one of the arms being movable with respect to the other between an open and closed position. An end effector such as a pair of opposing jaws for grasping tissue may be disposed at the distal end of the two arms. At the proximal end of each arm is a finger loop, or some other suitable means for holding by the handle, which are used to actuate the arms between the open and closed position. At least one of the finger loops is arranged to pivot about the longitudinal axis of the arm from which it extends, for example, the finger loop may be connected to the arm by a hinged connection, or any other suitable connection for enabling the finger loop to be pivotably rotated.

Surgical instrument is provided. The surgical instrument is capable of being operated manually or automatically for use in laparoscopic surgery or various surgeries and includes a locking device capable of locking and/or unlocking at least one operation.

Surgical instrument

A surgical instrument including one or both of a shield on a distal end portion of a shaft and a counterweight in a handle for enhanced functionality, efficiency and/or efficacy. The shield covers portions of a linkage that extend beyond outer dimensions of the shaft during operation of the instrument. The counterweight is proximal to a hand grip and configured to locate a center of gravity of the instrument within the hand grip. The instrument may be configured as a video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) and/or minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS) device.

Unmatching/matching UID to robot grasper for engaging teleoperation

A surgical robotic system has a robotic grasper, a user interface device (UID), and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the UID and the robotic grasper. The system detects a directive to engage or re-engage a teleoperation mode, determines that the system is in a non-teleoperation mode, receives a sequence of user actions through the UID, determines the UID matches a jaw angle or a grip force of the robotic grasper, and transitions into teleoperation mode. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

ONE-HANDED AND DOUBLE ROW METHODS FOR TISSUE FIXATION

Described herein is a simplified placement system and method for a tissue graft anchor by which a surgeon may introduce one or more sutures into a hole in a boney tissue, apply a precise amount of tension to the sutures to advance a soft tissue graft to a desired location, and then advance the anchor into the bone, preferably while maintaining the requisite pre-determined suture tension and without introducing spin to the suture. Particularly preferred embodiments allow for the one-handed operation, namely embodiments in which relative axial movement between the inner tensioning device and outer driver device is optionally physically constrained, for example by means of cooperating and/or compressive elements disposed in the respective hub and handle portions, are described herein. Other preferred embodiments of the present invention relate to multi-anchor constructs that may employ threaded implants exclusively, push-in implants exclusively, or a combination of threaded and push-in implants.

RETRACTOR

A retractor for retracting tissue and suctioning fluids, having a handle and a blade and a fluid passage therethrough connecting to a suction source, the fluid passage directing suction to perforations in the blade through which undesirable fluids, including surgical plume, may be evacuated. The retractor may be, in whole or part, transparent to observe suctioning. The blade may include a fanned tip for wide tissue-engagement. One or more perforations in the fanned tip may create a wide field of suction. Other perforations in the blade may present suction at differing elevations with respect to the surgical field. The handle may include one or more thumb/finger depressions for improved grip and maneuverability. The handle may include knurling ridges to reduce slippage. When not in use for retraction, the retractor may be clipped to another retractor where it may still suction fluids without being held.

COMBINATION DEPTHSINK INSTRUMENT

In various embodiments, a surgical instrument, systems including the surgical instrument, and methods of use of the surgical instrument are disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a handle body extending from a proximal end to a distal end substantially along a longitudinal axis. The handle body defines a first channel sized and configured to receive a guide element therein. A plurality of indicators are formed on the handle body. Each of the plurality of indicators correspond to a size of one of a plurality of fixation elements sized and configured for insertion into a bone. A countersink element is coupled to a distal end of the body. The countersink element defines a second channel sized and configured to receive the guide element therethrough that is circumferentially located with and coupled to the first channel. The countersink element includes a head sized and configured to form a countersink in the bone.

SLOTTED OCULAR LENS

An occular lens, such as a laser lysis lens, is provided that is suitable for use in viewing and lysing sutures in ophthalmic procedures. The occular lens includes a lens body having an the eye contacting surface. The eye contacting surface includes a groove or slot configured to aid in localizing and fixating a ligated drainage tube of a drainage implant during ligation/suture removal.

Surgical instrument with removable end effector components

A surgical instrument includes an ultrasonic waveguide extending through a body assembly. An ultrasonic blade connects to the ultrasonic waveguide. A clamp arm assembly of the surgical instrument is able to move from an opened position for receiving a tissue toward a closed position for clamping the tissue. The clamp arm assembly includes a clamp body and a clamp pad facing the ultrasonic blade. A clamp arm actuator of the surgical instrument is able to move from a first position toward a second position to direct the clamp arm assembly from the opened position toward the closed position. A modular coupling of the surgical instrument connects to the clamp pad such that at least the clamp pad can be disconnected relative to the ultrasonic blade for replacement thereof.
