Endoscopic tool for deb riding and removing polyps
11812933 · 2023-11-14 · ·

An improved endoscopic tool easily and efficiently obtains samples of multiple polyps from a patient by debriding one or more polyps and retrieving the debrided polyps without having to alternate between using a separate cutting tool and a separate sample retrieving tool and may be used with an endoscope.

Atherectomy Devices and Methods

Rotational atherectomy devices and systems can remove or reduce stenotic lesions in blood vessels by rotating an abrasive element within the vessel. The abrasive element can be attached to a distal portion of an elongate flexible drive shaft that extends from a handle assembly.

Tissue-removing catheter including turbine

A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate body having an axis and proximal and distal end portions spaced apart from one another along the axis. A turbine is fixed to the elongate body and is disposed at an intermediate position between the proximal and distal end portions of the elongate body. A rotatable tissue-removing element is at the distal end portion of the elongate body and is operatively coupled to the turbine such that the turbine imparts rotation of the tissue-removing element. The tissue-removing element removes the tissue from the body lumen as the tissue-removing element is rotated by the turbine.

ATHERECTOMY SYSTEM

Medical systems and methods for making and using medical systems are disclosed. Example medical systems may include an atherectomy system configured to engage and remove plaque from walls in vessels of a vascular system. The atherectomy system may include a drive shaft, a rotational tip coupled to an end of the drive shaft, a drive mechanism coupled to the drive shaft to rotate the rotational tip, and a control unit configured to control operation of the drive mechanism. In some cases, the control unit may include a controller for controlling operation of the drive mechanism based on sensed positions of the drive mechanism. The controller may be configured to send data to a host for analysis, compensate a control signal based on a mode of operation of the drive mechanism, determine if a stall is predicted to occur, and/or perform one or more other functions.

INSERTABLE ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT FOR TISSUE REMOVAL

An improved flexible endoscopic instrument to precisely and efficiently obtains samples of flat polyps and multiple polyps from a patient by debriding one or more polyps and retrieving the debrided polyps without having to alternate between using a separate cutting tool and a separate sample retrieving tool and may be used with an endoscope. In one aspect, the cutting tool is coupled to a flexible torque coil or torque rope that is configured to transfer rotational energy from a powered actuator through the length of the endoscope onto the cutting tool.

Surgical console, specimen receiver, and insertable endoscopic instrument for tissue removal

A surgical console includes a drive assembly, vacuum interface, fluid transfer device, user interface, and control circuit. The drive assembly is configured to be coupled to an endoscopic tool and to be rotated by a motor. The vacuum interface is configured to apply a vacuum to the endoscopic tool. The fluid transfer device is configured to flow fluid through the endoscopic tool. The user interface is configured to receive a user input indicating at least one of instructions to rotate the endoscopic tool while applying the vacuum, or to flow fluid through the endoscopic tool. The control circuit controls at least one of the drive assembly, the vacuum interface, or the fluid transfer device based on the instructions, and is configured to cause the drive assembly to rotate the endoscopic tool while the vacuum interface applies the vacuum responsive to the user input indicating instructions to rotate the endoscopic tool.
