TISSUE RESECTING INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING AUXILIARY VACUUM FEATURES
A tissue resecting instrument includes a drive assembly coupled to an inner cutting shaft and configured to drive translation and/or rotation of the inner cutting shaft, a trigger coupled to the drive assembly and configured for manual actuation to drive the drive assembly, a vacuum generator configured to generate vacuum to suction cut tissue through the inner cutting shaft and into the vacuum generator, and a tissue collection cartridge configured to engage the housing. The tissue collection cartridge defines a port configured to communicate with the vacuum generator such that the vacuum generator urges cut tissue from the vacuum generator through the port into the tissue collection cartridge. An auxiliary vacuum source is configured to selectively provide additional vacuum to increase suctioning of cut tissue through the inner cutting shaft and into the vacuum generator.
Obesity treatment
An apparatus for treating obesity comprises a volume filling device formed by at least two segments and is provided and following implantation, the device is placed resting against the stomach wall of the patient to reduce the inner volume of the stomach, thereby affecting the patient's appetite.
Apparatus and Methods for Controlled Clot Aspiration
A blood clot removal system including an aspiration catheter, an external unit having a first pressure sensor, a base unit having a second pressure sensor, a vacuum source connected to the base unit, connection tubing connecting the external unit to the aspiration catheter and the base unit, controllable sensory indicators, and a controller to receive a first pressure from the first pressure sensor and a second pressure from the second pressure sensor, determine a pressure differential based on the first pressure and the second pressure, determine a current catheter state from a plurality of catheter states based on the pressure differential, and transmit, via the one or more sensory indicators, one or more sensory indications of the current catheter state.
Automated device for choking
Techniques for blockage removal is provided, which may provide immediate and effective aid to a choking victim. A blockage removal device may comprise a mouthpiece disposed on an inlet. The inlet may be coupled to a chamber configured to hold a vacuum generated by a vacuum pump. A pressure transducer may send information about the vacuum to an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU may send the information to a solenoid valve, which may open and close at a predetermined setting, instantly exposing or blocking the vacuum.
Method and instrument for treating obesity
A gastroscopic method and instrument for treating obesity of a patient, using a device adapted to stretch a part of the stomach wall of said patient. The method comprises the steps of: inserting the device into the stomach through the esophagus, placing the device in contact with the stomach wall, and fixating the device to the stomach wall such that the device can stretch a part of the stomach wall.
Treating dysfunctional cardiac tissue
Medical devices, systems, and methods reduce the distance between two points in tissue, often for treatment of congestive heart failure and often in a minimally invasive manner. An anchor is inserted along an insertion path through a first wall of the heart. An arm of the anchor is deployed and rotationally positioned according to a desired alignment. Application of tension to the anchor may draw the first and second walls of the heart into contact along a desired contour so as to effect a desired change in the geometry of the heart. Additional anchors may be inserted and aligned with the first anchor to close off a portion of a ventricle such that the ventricle is geometrically remodeled and disease progression is reversed, halted, and/or slowed.
Staple cartridge comprising a compressible tissue thickness compensator
A staple cartridge comprising a cartridge body, staples, and a compensator is disclosed. The cartridge body comprises staple cavities. The staples are removably positioned within the staple cavities. The staples are ejectable from the staple cavities. The compensator comprises an implantable body, a shell contained within the implantable body, and a plurality of resilient members positioned within the shell. The shell defines an inner space. At least a portion of a resilient member of the plurality of resilient members is connected to the shell. The inner space is compressible. The inner space has an unruptured volume when the shell is in an unruptured state. The staples are configured to rupture the shell when the staples are ejected from the staple cavities.
Methods and instruments for treating obesity
The invention relates surgical abdominal methods of treating obesity in a patient by implanting a volume filling device that, when implanted in a patient, reduces the food cavity in size by a volume substantially exceeding the volume of the volume filling device. Also disclosed is a laparoscopic instrument for providing a volume filling device to be invaginated in the stomach wall of a human patient to treat obesity.
DEVICE FOR TREATING VAGINAL ATROPHY
A device (1, 20, 100, 200) to treat vaginal atrophy comprising a treatment module (2, 21, 101, 201) configured for insertion into the vagina and having a microtrauma module. The micro trauma module is configured to deliver negative pressure mechanical microtrauma therapy to a wall of the vagina when inserted. The microtrauma module comprises a plurality of apertures (6, 106, 206) in fluidic connection with a vacuum pump, the device being arranged to generate a negative pressure at the apertures (6, 106).
Surgical instrument comprising synchronized drive systems
A surgical instrument for treating the tissue of a patient is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, and an end effector. The surgical instrument further comprises a motorized drive system, a first drive system configured to perform a first end effector drive motion, wherein the first drive system is operably coupled to the motorized drive system, and a second drive system configured to perform a second end effector drive motion, wherein the second drive system is operably coupled to the motorized drive system. The surgical instrument further comprises synchronizing means for repetitively sequencing the first end effector drive motion and the second end effector drive motion.
