Shallow surface cryotherapy applicators and related technology
Systems for treating a subject's tissue can include a thermally conductive cup with vacuum features configured to facilitate removal of air located between the cup and the subject's skin. The vacuum features can extend along cup to provide airflow paths to a vacuum port. The applicator can cool and/or heat the retained tissue to affect targeted tissue. After the treat period, the vacuum can be reduced or stop and the applicator can be removed from the subject.
Aspiration thrombectomy system and methods for thrombus removal with aspiration catheter
A vacuum aspiration control system for use with a vacuum source and an aspiration catheter includes a connecting tube configured to connect the vacuum source with a lumen of an aspiration catheter. An on-off valve is operatively coupled to the connecting tube, and a sensing unit is configured to detect flow within the connecting tube and provide a signal representative of flow. A controller receives the signal to decide whether to open or close the valve. The controller may automatically close the valve to stop flow when flow through the connecting tube is unrestricted, or according to a predetermined timing sequence. The controller can further periodically open a closed valve to determine whether flow has entered an acceptable range. The controller can still further engage pulsed aspiration with a pressure manipulation assembly when flow is restricted or occluded.
TISSUE RESECTING INSTRUMENT
An end effector assembly of a tissue-resecting device includes an outer shaft, a drive wire, the distal cutting tip, a hub housing, and a driver. The outer shaft includes a distal end portion defining a window therethrough. The drive wire extends through the outer shaft. The distal cutting tip is disposed within the outer shaft and engaged with the distal end portion of the drive wire. The distal cutting tip at least partially overlaps the window. The hub housing is engaged with the proximal end portion of the outer shaft. The driver is disposed within the hub housing and engaged with the proximal end portion of the drive wire to driver rotation of the drive wire and distal cutting tip within and relative to the outer shaft. The driver defines an internal lumen and at least one lateral opening disposed in communication with the internal lumen. An outflow path is defined from the window through the outer shaft and about the drive wire, into an interior of the hub housing, through the at least one lateral opening, and through the internal lumen.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING OBESITY
An volume filling device for treatment of obesity is placed outside the stomach wall of the patient to reduce the inner volume of the stomach, thereby affecting the patient's appetite. By providing the volume filling device outside the stomach wall, contact with stomach acids is avoided, thereby increasing the life of the device.
METHOD AND INSTRUMENTS FOR TREATING GERD
A biocompatible implant for a method of treating a reflux disease in a patient by preventing the cardia sphincter from sliding through the patient's diaphragm hiatus opening into the patient's thorax, so as to maintain a pressure support from the patient's abdomen that supports the patient's cardia sphincter. The biocompatible implant has a rigid shape, a circumference of at least 15 mm and is configured to be introduced into the patent's abdomen through a trocar, be fully invaginatable in the patient's fundus wall, and function as an implantable movement restricting device preventing the cardia sphincter from sliding through the patient's diaphragm, when implanted.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING OBESITY
An apparatus for treating obesity of an obese patient having a stomach with a food cavity, the apparatus comprising at least one volume filling device adapted to be at least substantially invaginated by a stomach wall portion of the patient. The volume filling device is adapted to be placed inside the stomach wall with the outer surface of the volume filling device resting against the inside of the stomach wall, such that the volume of the food cavity is reduced in size by a volume substantially exceeding the volume of the volume filling device, the volume filling device having a maximum circumference of at least 30 millimeters.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING OBESITY
A volume filling device for treatment of obesity is placed outside the stomach wall of the patient to reduce the inner volume of the stomach, thereby affecting the patient's appetite. By providing the volume filling device outside the stomach wall, contact with stomach acids is avoided, thereby increasing the life of the device.
METHODS AND INSTRUMENTS FOR TREATING OBESITY AND GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE
An intraluminar method of treating obesity of a patient, having a stomach with a food cavity, is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of creating a pouch made of a stomach wall portion of the patient, closing the pouch by sutures, staples or a fixation device, and placing a volume filling device in the pouch before or after closing the pouch, and thus invaginating the volume filling device in the pouch such that an outer surface of the volume filling device rests against an outer surface of the stomach wall.
DEVICE FOR TREATING OBESITY
A device for treating obesity of a patient, the device comprising: at least one operable stretching device implantable in the patient and adapted to stretch a portion of the patient's stomach wall, and an implantable control unit for automatically controlling the operable stretching device, when the control unit and stretching device are implanted, to stretch the stomach wall portion in connection with the patient eating such that satiety is created.
