System for sphincteric and other tissue regeneration
10631966 · 2020-04-28 · ·

The invention provides a system treating a weak or leaking urinary or other sphincter. The system includes two magnets and one or more devices to immobilize one of the magnets on a first side of the body organ to immobilize the other magnet on the second side of the body organ. The magnets may be positioned around the body organ with opposite poles facing each other. The invention may be used to induce the formation of muscle tissue of a sphincter such as a urethral sphincter or gastroesophageal sphincter, and also for mechanically occluding a leaking urethral or vesicovaginal fistula.

IMPLANT FOR CLOSING AN OPENING IN TISSUE

An implant 801 for closing an opening in tissue such as a fistula or a sinus comprises a coil having a substantially uniform outer diameter. The coil forms an internal passage having a diameter that tapers from a distal end to a proximal end. The implant 801 may be delivered using a non-tapered driver coil 820.

Wound closure apparatus and method

A wound closure apparatus can be a self-contained device for delivery and deployment of a wound plug. The apparatus can include a post and a wound plug. The post can have a top end, a bottom end, and an interior channel located between the top end and the bottom end. The bottom end of the post can include a plurality of perforations extending from the interior channel to an outer surface of the post. The wound plug can include a body and a bladder, the bladder disposed around the body. In an assembled configuration of the wound closure apparatus, the bottom end of the post is positioned through an opening of the bladder such that the bladder can receive a fluid through the interior channel and the plurality of perforations.

Solenoid occlusion device

The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for delivery of a ferrofluid to a targeted treatment site, such as delivery of a ferroadhesive to a pathological fistula to occlude the fistula. A device includes a catheter having a lumen and a distal opening. A hollow solenoid is coupled to a distal section of the catheter, and a hollow core of the solenoid allows passage of a ferrofluid through the catheter and through the hollow core so that it may exit past the distal end of the hollow solenoid. The solenoid may be selectively actuated to maintain or control the position of the delivered ferrofluid.

FIXATION OF VESSELS FOR PERCUTANEOUS FISTULA CREATION

A method of percutaneously creating a fistula includes inserting percutaneously a medical instrument to a target location having a first blood vessel and a second blood vessel. A fastener is then deployed via the medical instrument to the target location. The fastener is in a first configuration before the deploying and a second configuration after the deploying. The fastener limits relative movement between the first blood vessel and the second blood vessel when in the second configuration. An anastomosis between the first blood vessel and the second blood vessel is percutaneously produced.

System and methods for closing a fascial opening
10543073 · 2020-01-28 · ·

A system and method for closing a fascial opening is disclosed. The system may include a strap that may be locked into each of a pair of anchors placed anterior to a muscle and on opposite sides of a fascial opening, one or more delivery tubes for delivering the anchors, and a needle for pulling the strap into each anchor. The method may include the steps of placing a dilating port through a skin incision, inserting an anchor through the dilating port, placing a strap into the body cavity, whereupon the strap may be pulled through the anchor. A second anchor may be placed on the contralateral side of the defect so that the strap may be pulled through the second anchor and cinched tightly closing the defect. The anchors may have a locking aperture that engages with the strap.

MEDICAL PROBE, ASSEMBLY AND METHOD

There is disclosed a medical probe for traversing a tract in the body of a human or animal. One medical probe is disclosed which comprises an elongate elastically deformable member comprising a helically wound element, and a sheath having an inner surface which contacts an outer surface of the elastically deformable member. The probe is elastically deformable, for traversing the tract, by virtue of the elastically deformable member. The probe may include a treatment element, which can be used to perform a procedure in the body of a patient. An assembly comprising a probe and a treatment element is also disclosed. The medical probe has a particular use in the treatment of a fistula, in which the probe takes the form of a fistula probe adapted to traverse a fistula tract.

Space filling devices

An occlusive device includes a covering component configured to modulate passage of blood or thrombus therethrough, and an occlusion frame that includes a plurality of elongate occlusion frame members. The elongate occlusion frame members are arranged to form a generally disc-shaped member. The occlusion frame is at least partially covered by the covering component. The device further includes an anchor frame that includes a plurality of elongate anchor frame members. The device further includes a first hub component from which the elongate frame members extend, and a second hub component from which the elongate frame members extend.

Devices and methods for treating a vessel in a subject

A method of treating a vessel in a subject comprises the steps of advancing a device distally across a treatment zone in a vessel, wherein the device comprises an elongated catheter having a lumen and a distal end, and a radially expansive treatment element disposed in the lumen and configured for axial movement relative to the catheter; deploying the radially expansive treatment element proud of the distal end of the catheter to radially expand and circumferentially impress against the vessel lumen at a distal end of the treatment zone; and withdrawing the deployed radially expansive treatment element proximally along the treatment zone with the treatment element circumferentially impressed against the vessel lumen to mechanically and circumferentially denude the treatment zone of the vessel. The radially expansive treatment element is then recaptured into the lumen of the catheter, before the device is withdrawn from the treated vessel.

PERIANAL FISTULA CLOSURE SYSTEM

A system may include a delivery device configured to deploy a perianal fistula closure device and the perianal fistula closure device configured to close a perianal fistula. The delivery device may include a helical catheter. The perianal fistula closure device may include a cap, a suture comprising a plurality of uni-directional barbs, and an anchor connected to an end of the suture comprising a plurality of uni-directional quills.
