MEDICAL COIL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND MEDICAL DEVICE
A medical coil includes a multi-layer coil including a plurality of winding layers in which metal strands are spirally wound, the multi-layer coil including: an inner layer in the multi-layer coil made up of one or more metal round wires; and an outer layer of the multi-layer coil made up of one or more metal flat wires. The inner layer and the outer layer are contact with each other.
Location pad with improved immunity to interference
A location pad includes multiple field-generators, a frame and a mounting fixture. The multiple field-generators are configured to generate respective magnetic fields in a region-of-interest of a patient body, for measuring a position of a medical instrument in the region-of-interest. The frame is configured to fix the multiple field-generators at respective positions surrounding the region-of-interest. The mounting fixture is configured to position the frame above the patient body.
System and method for image localization of effecters during a medical procedure
A computer-assisted imaging and localization system assists the physician in positioning surgical effecters, such as implants, tools and instruments, within a surgical site in a patient's body. The system displays overlapping images—one image of the surgical site with the patient's anatomy and another image showing the surgical effecter(s). The overlapping image of the surgical effecter(s) is moved over the static image of the anatomy as the implant/instrument is moved. The movement of the surgical effecter(s) is determined in a three-dimensional coordinate system at a home base location in the patient's anatomy, which home base can be moved during the procedure without interrupting the displays of the overlapping images.
THERAPEUTIC APPARATUS AND ALIGNMENT METHOD AND DEVICE THEREOF
A therapeutic apparatus includes an image capturing mechanism and a mechanical arm, and further includes a calibration plate on which a calibration plane is defined. The mechanism includes reference plate and image capturing element with adjustable capturing direction, the capturing element is opposite to and spaced apart from reference plate, and a surface of reference plate facing the capturing element is defined as reference plane. The arm includes a body, a fixed end and an operating end, the fixed and operating ends are located at different positions of the body, respectively, the body is fixed to mounting base through fixed end, the calibration plate is arranged at operating end, and the body is driven to move operating end to a position between capturing element and reference plate such that the calibration plate is parallel to calibration plane and reference plane.
MAGNETICALLY-TRACKED CATHETER AND METHOD FOR TRACKING A CATHETER
A magnetically-tracked catheter system having a catheter and a magnetic beacon. The catheter has a proximal end and a distal end. The catheter includes a first magnetic sensor disposed at (i.e., near) the distal end. The magnetic beacon is configured to be disposed external to an individual and in a target zone. An operator interface is in electronic communication with the first magnetic sensor. The catheter may further include a guide lumen (and/or other lumen or lumens) extending between the proximal end and the distal end and the configured for use with a guidewire. The catheter may include an occlusion member configured to occlude a vessel or other passage of an individual (e.g, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, etc.).
EAR-NOSE-THROAT (ENT) NAVIGABLE SHAVER WITH FERROMAGNETIC COMPONENTS
A system includes a medical probe and a position-tracking system. The medical probe includes a distal end, and one or more distal magnetic position sensors. The medical probe further includes a proximal-end assembly, and one or more proximal magnetic position sensors. The position-tracking system includes a memory, which is configured to hold values indicative of known relative positions between the distal magnetic position sensors and the proximal magnetic position sensors. The position-tracking system includes a processor, which is configured to receive one or more signals indicative of estimated positions of the proximal magnetic position sensors and of the distal magnetic position sensors, as measured by the position-tracking system, and to initiate a responsive action in response to detecting a discrepancy between the known relative positions and the estimated positions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD, FOR TRAINING AN INTERVENTIONALIST TO PERFORM AN INVASIVE PERCUTANEOUS INTERVENTION OR AN ENDOSCOPIC INTERVENTION
System for training an interventionalist to perform an invasive percutaneous or endoscopic intervention on an organ includes a pipe having a size and/or shape similar to a body vessel or tubular body cavity connected to the organ. An exit of the pipe simulates or represents an exit of the vessel or cavity at the organ. A tool is inserted at an entrance of the pipe and pushed through the pipe. A stereoscopic camera acquires images of an end portion of the tool as it exits from the pipe. A model generating unit generates a real-time 3D model of this end portion from the images. A merging unit merges in real time the real-time model and a pre-computed 3D model of the organ into a common environment displayed so that the interventionalist can see in real-time where the real-time model of the tool is located with respect to the pre-computed model.
SEPARABLE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT JOINTS
In general, separable surgical instrument joints and methods of using separable surgical instrument joints are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a surgical instrument includes a joint at which a distal tip of the surgical instrument is configured to articulate relative to an elongate shaft of the instrument. The surgical instrument is configured to move between first and second states. In the first state, the distal tip of the surgical instrument cannot be articulated relative to the elongate shaft. In the second state, the distal tip can be articulated relative to the elongate shaft.
MACHINE VISION NEEDLE COUNTING IMAGING TRAY
A needle collection and counting tray for use in a clinical setting, such as an operating room, into which a user deposits used needles. The tray is then placed into a counting and identification machine the utilizes object recognition technology to identify and count the needles on the tray.
Systems and methods for controlling a surgical stapling and cutting instrument
Various examples are directed to systems and methods for operating a surgical instrument comprising a firing member translatable proximally and distally along a longitudinal axis between a stroke begin position to a stroke end position distal of the stroke begin position; a knife coupled to the firing member; and a motor coupled to the firing member to translate the firing member between the stroke begin position and the stroke end position. A control circuit may receive a firing signal and begin a firing member stroke by providing an initial motor setting to the motor. The control circuit may maintain the initial motor setting for an open-loop portion of the firing member stroke. The control circuit may receive firing member motion data describing a motion of the firing member during the open-loop portion of the firing member stroke and may select a firing control program based at least in part on the motion of the firing member during the open-loop portion of the firing member stroke.
