BACILLUS STRAINS FOR IMPROVING FEED CONVERSION RATES AND BODY WEIGHT GAIN IN ANIMALS

Compositions comprising Bacillus pumilis O72NR7 (deposit accession number DSM 32563) are useful for improving myriad performance parameters when fed to animals, including, but not limited to, body weight gain, average daily gain and feed conversion rates. The present disclosure describes animal feed additives and animal feeds comprising Bacillus pumilis O72NR7.

BACILLUS CELL WITH REDUCED LIPASE AND/OR ESTERASE SIDE ACTIVITIES

The present invention provides a modified Bacillus cell for the production of a compound of interest, wherein the Bacillus cell comprises a genetic modification that leads to decreased production of enzymes with lipase and/or esterase activity. The use of compounds of interest produced with said improved Bacillus host cells reduces the formation of malodour and/or off-flavour when used for applications such as washing or cleaning or as feed or food additives.

METHODS OF PROCESSING MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE (MSW) USING MICROBIAL HYDROLYSIS AND FERMENTATION

The invention provides a method of processing MSW comprising the steps ofproviding a stream of unsorted MSW to a microbial fermentation reactor in which the MSW is fermented with agitation at a non-water content of between 10 and 50% by weight and at a temperature of between 35 and 75 degrees for a period of between 1 and 72 hours under conditions sufficient to maintain a live lactic acid bacteria concentration of at least 10,000,000,000 CFU/L, andremoving a stream of fermented unsorted MSW from the reactor and subjecting it to a separation step whereby non-degradable solids are removed to provide a slurry of biodegradable components. Further, a slurry of bio-degradable components prepared according to said method is provided.
