PLUG WITH ISTHMUS ANCHOR FOR TREATING PATULOUS EUSTACHIAN TUBE
A plug is configured to maintain position within a Eustachian tube of a patient. The plug includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal portion includes a first body dimensioned bear radially outwardly against the Eustachian tube of the patient. The distal portion includes an anchoring assembly that is configured to lock the plug in the Eustachian tube of the patient. The plug may be formed of a bioabsorbable material.
Cartridge for an electrode array insertion device
A device, system and method for inserting a pre-curved electrode array (100) held in a substantially straight configuration by a straightening member (101) into a cochlea of a subject. As the electrode array (100) is inserted into the cochlea by the device, the straightening member (101) is held by the device such that the electrode array (100) advances off the straightening member (101) such that it is free to take on its pre-curved configuration in the cochlea of the subject.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SEALING A MEMBRANE
Disclosed embodiments relate to a membrane closure device (100) for closing a perforation in a membrane (10), comprising: a patch guiding mechanism (110) for guiding at least one expandable patch (120) to a perforation site (12) of a membrane (10); and a fastener delivery mechanism (130, 330) for delivering a fastener (140) to the perforation site (12) and for fastening the at least one expandable patch by the fastener (140) to the membrane (10) to seal the perforation in the membrane (10) by the at least one expandable patch (120).
EUSTACHIAN TUBE DILATION BALLOON WITH VENTILATION PATH
An apparatus includes a shaft, an expandable dilator, and at least one ventilation pathway. The shaft defines a longitudinal axis and includes a distal and proximal ends with at least one shaft lumen. The expandable dilator includes body with its own proximal and distal ends. The body is configured to transition between a contracted state and an expanded state. The body is configured to dilate a Eustachian tube of a patient in the expanded state. The at least one ventilation pathway is configured to provide ventilation from the distal end of the body to the proximal end of the body when the body is in the expanded state. In some examples, the ventilation pathway includes a set of transversely oriented vent openings formed through the shaft. In some other examples, the ventilation pathway includes a space defined between one or more radially outwardly protruding features of the expandable dilator.
Patulous eustachian tube stent
A system effectively narrows a patulous Eustachian tube (ET) of a patient with a guide catheter, instrument, and insert. The guide catheter includes a shaft, a lumen and a distal end configured to provide access the ET when the guide catheter is inserted into a head of the patient. The instrument comprises a shaft. The insert comprises a body configured to radially expand and retract between a non-expanded state and an expanded state. The insert is sized and shaped to be received within the first lumen when in the non-expanded state and is operable to expand to the expanded state to substantially reduce an effective diameter of the ET.
Devices, systems, and methods for treating ear disorders
Systems and methods can be employed for trans-tympanic membrane access to the middle ear for delivery of a formulation or implant device to a target location under direct visualization. The systems and methods can also be used to improve accessibility and visualization for various otological surgical procedures, such as, but not limited to, cholesteatoma removal, tympanic membrane repair and ossicular chain repair.
Medical instrument with integral navigation control features
Variations of integral navigation controls may be used in conjunction with a medical instrument to provide navigation functions for an image guided surgery (IGS) system that is in communication with the integral navigation controls. In some variations, a medical instrument with integrated navigation wheels allows movement of a cursor of the IGS system along the x and y axis by scrolling the wheel, or allows selection, zooming, or other controls by combined clicking and/or scrolling of wheels, and may be sterilized or discarded along with the device. In some other variations, a control overlay may be temporarily attached to the medical instrument to provide additional controls, such as buttons or a pointing stick, and then removed and sterilized or discarded after a procedure. In each variation, inputs may be communicated via wire or wirelessly to an IGS system to provide navigation of images during a surgical procedure.
ILLUMINATION DEVICE FOR EAR SURGERY
An illumination device 1, 10, 100, 1, 1 for ear surgery, said illumination device 1, 10, 100, 1, 1 comprising a body 20, 200, 2000, 20, 20 having a first end 20a, 200a, 2000a, 20a, 20a and a second end 20b, 200b, 2000b, 20b, 20b; a light source 22,220,2200, 22, 22 provided at the second end 20b, 200b, 2000b, 20b, 20b; and means 30, 300, 3000, 30, 30 for supporting said body 20, 200, 2000, 20, 20 and said light source 22, 220, 2200, 22, 22 in a patient's ear canal.
