METHOD FOR TREATING AN ANIMAL SUBSTRATE
A method for tanning an animal substrate comprising the steps: i) agitating the animal substrate with a chromium-free tanning agent; and ii) agitating the animal substrate with a tanning agent having an oxazolidine group; wherein at least some of the agitation is performed in the presence of a solid particulate material having an average particle size of from 1 to 500 mm.

Method for producing hydrophobicizing leather treatment agents
A method of preparing hydrophobicizing leather treatment compositions includes the steps of a) free-radically initiated copolymerization of i) at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivatives, and ii) at least one (meth)acrylate of a primary saturated C.sub.8 to C.sub.22 alcohol, b) mixing the reaction mixture obtained after step a) with water, c) salting at least some of the carboxyl groups of the reaction mixture obtained after step b) with a base, and d) shearing the reaction mixture obtained after step c) to an average particle size of 0.05-10 μm,
wherein step a) is carried out in oil as reaction medium and wherein the atmosphere in step a) contains less than 0.1% by volume of an oxidizing gas.
Lionfish leather and preparation thereof
Systems and methods for preparing fish leather, which may comprise lionfish leather, are described. A method of making lionfish leather may comprise cutting, using one or more guidelines, at least a portion of a lionfish body, wherein the guidelines are configured to facilitate removal of skin from of the lionfish body; removing, using the one or more guidelines, the skin from the lionfish body, wherein the removed skin defines a cut skin pattern based on at least the guidelines; and subjecting the removed skin to at least a tanning process to provide a lionfish leather.
LEATHER ODOR REMOVAL COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING LEATHER WITH REDUCED ODOR USING THE SAME
Disclosed are a leather odor removal composition, a method of manufacturing leather with reduced odor using the same, and leather manufactured through the method. The method of reducing leather odor may include using a composition including a filler and a softening mixture.

PROCESS FOR COATING VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHERS
A process for coating vegetable-tanned leathers is provided. The process includes depositing a coating layer composed of an aqueous dispersion of polyurethane resin on a support having anti-adhesion properties, curing the coating layer on the support, depositing an adhesive layer composed of an aqueous dispersion of polyurethane resin onto the cured coating layer, applying a leather piece onto the adhesive layer, the leather piece being a vegetable-tanned leather piece, in a continuous oven curing the adhesive layer to attach the leather piece to the coating layer, and removing the coated leather piece from the support. Within the continuous oven the leather piece reaches a maximum temperature comprised between 65° C. and 75° C., with a dwell time in the oven comprised between 180 and 210 seconds.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A FOOTWEAR
A method of manufacturing a footwear includes the steps of providing a leather base layer and providing a leather attachment layer. The leather base layer and the leather attachment layer are fixed against each other with an intermediate application of adhesive between them. The applied adhesive is activated. The leather base layer and the leather attachment layer are forced against each other under a pressure with the adhesive between them. The adhesive is cured and thereby the leather base layer and the leather attachment layer are bonded to each other. The bonded leather base layer and the leather attachment layer are integrated as part of the footwear.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUSTAINABLE LEATHER USING BY-PRODUCTS FROM PARTS OF ALL VARIETIES AND SPECIES OF THE GENUS PERSEA PLANT INCLUDING AMONG THEM BOTH THE AMERICAN SPECIES AND THE HASS VARIETY AS WELL
A method is provided for producing sustainable leather using by-products from parts of all varieties and species of the plant genus Persea including among them both the American species and the Hass variety. A hide or leather may be produced by the method, and a method is provided for producing the natural tanning agents used in the method to produce sustainable leather and the natural tanning agents produced by the method.
PROCESS FOR TANNING LEATHERS, PRE-TANNING PRODUCTS AND USE THEREOF
A process for tanning leathers including a pre-tanning step and a tanning step is provided. In the pre-tanning step leathers are treated with a cationic active agent including a quatemized ester of a fatty acid and triethanolamine, or mixtures thereof and, subsequently, with an anionic active agent including tannins vegetable extracts and a natural or synthetic dispersant selected from the group consisting of lignosulfonates, distillation stillages, sulfonated disulfonic polymers, sulfonated naphthalene polymers or mixtures thereof, to obtain leathers with a shrinkage temperature of at least 65° C. The pre-tanning and tanning steps do not include treatment with aldehydes or aldehyde donor compounds and/or with metal salts.
