Materials and Construction for High-Strength, Light-Weight Bicycle
Systems and methods for fabricating a high-strength, low-weight material suitable for construction of a bicycle. A composition of powdered materials including magnesium, aluminum, copper, zinc, zirconia, and silicon carbide is combined and blended together. The mixture is vacuum hot pressed into a billet and then extruded. The resulting material is suitable for construction of a bicycle having excellent physical properties including strength, flexibility, comfort, and light-weight.
METAL-BASED COMPOSITE MATERIAL
[Object] Provided is a metal-based material having a high hardness.
[Solution] A metal-based composite material of the present invention is formed from a sintered body obtained from Ti material powder, Mo material powder, Ni material powder, and ceramics powder, and 0.1 to 9 parts by mass of Ni is contained with respect to 100 parts by mass of the entirety of the metal-based composite material.
Thixomolding material
A thixomolding material includes: a metal body that contains Mg as a main component; and a coating portion that is adhered to a surface of the metal body via a binder and contains SiC particles containing SiC as a main component. A mass fraction of the SiC particles in a total mass of the metal body and the SiC particles is 2.0 mass % or more and 40.0 mass % or less. The binder may contain waxes. A content of the binder may be 0.001 mass % or more and 0.200 mass % or less.
Evaporation-based method for manufacturing and recycling of metal matrix nanocomposites
A manufacturing method includes: 1) forming a melt including one or more metals; 2) introducing nanostructures into the melt at an initial volume fraction of the nanostructures; and 3) at least partially evaporating one or more metals from the melt so as to form a metal matrix nanocomposite including the nanostructures dispersed therein at a higher volume fraction than the initial volume fraction.
