JOINT REPAIR SYSTEM
A joint stabilization (reduction) system and associated methods and tools for placement of the system in an open or minimally invasive technique. The joint stabilization system includes a flexible prosthetic band for stabilizing the bones in proper position and a connector mechanism for joining the two ends of the prosthetic band around the bones. One end of the prosthetic band can be permanently attached to the connector.
BILATERAL REVERSIBLE VENOUS TOURNIQUET BANDS
Disclosed herein are embodiments for a bilateral reversible disposable tourniquet band. The band tourniquet comprises an elongated member having a flat structure made of a thermoplastic elastomer material. The band has a first surface having a smooth texture, and a second surface having a non-smooth texture comprising a knurled pattern. The elongated member may have a thickness between 0.5 mm and 2 mm.
Thermally sensitive retention mechanism for orthopedic cutting instruments
The present invention is directed at a thermally sensitive retention mechanism for orthopedic cutting instruments. More specifically, the present invention incorporates structural engagement features into a rotational orthopedic cutting instrument that transfers torque from a driver to a cutting component and which upon heating result in disengagement of the cutting component from the driver portion.
METHOD OF FASTENING A TISSUE OR A CORRESPONDING PROSTHETIC ELEMENT IN AN OPENING PROVIDED IN A HUMAN OR ANIMAL BONE AND FASTENER SUITABLE FOR THE METHOD
A graft or prosthetic element suitable, e.g., for replacing a tendon or ligament is fastened in a bone tunnel or blind opening with the aid of a fastener. In a first step, the graft or prosthetic element is press-fitted in the tunnel or opening by forcing the fastener into the opening or by positioning the fastener in the opening and then expanding it, wherein the fastener is in contact with the graft or prosthetic element and with the bone wall of the tunnel or blind opening. In a second step, the fastener is anchored in the bone wall of the tunnel or blind opening with the aid of a liquefiable material which is liquefied in the vicinity of the bone wall where it is in contact with the fastener and by making the liquefied material penetrate into the bone wall.
Method for applying an implantable layer to a fastener cartridge
Methods for forming an implantable layer onto a staple cartridge are disclosed.
Left atrial appendage occluder for improving sealing effect and manufacturing method thereof
A left atrial appendage occluder for improving sealing effect and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. The left atrial appendage occluder includes a sealing portion and an anchoring portion coupled to the sealing portion. The sealing portion and the anchoring portion abut against each other. A tight connection between the sealing portion and the anchoring portion can be achieved by applying a pre-tightening force, such that the left atrial appendage occluder can be better attached to and occlude the left atrial appendage after being release.
Hybrid radiolucent screw with radiopaque components and radiolucent components and method of manufacture
A hybrid radiolucent screw having radiopaque components and radiolucent components, which collaboratively define a tip of the screw and a head of the screw. In this manner, distortion is minimized during fluoroscopy or radiography of the screw while visualization of the screw and surrounding area is enhanced.
Surgical retractor
The systems and methods provided herein are directed to a surgical retractor which is optimized for production by additive manufacturing systems in situations where external medical supplies are interrupted or unavailable.
Purse suturing device for hollow viscus
A purse suturing device includes a circular stapler having a tubular stapler head adapted to be inserted inside a section of the hollow viscus to be sutured, a handle with an actuator connected to the stapler head, and an anvil against which the staples may be folded. The anvil has a pole adapted to be inserted into the tubular stapler head. A suturing thread is wound around the hollow viscus and tightened, causing a section of the hollow viscus to be tightened around the pole. The tightened section also includes a pursed, or folded, section of the wall of the hollow viscus, in which two layers of the wall of the hollow viscus are stapled together.
Disposable handle for medical instruments
An apparatus for releasably holding a surgical tool having a body, the body having a longitudinal axis, a monolithic construction, and a shape apportioned to be grasped by a human hand, with body further having a tool engaging portion, a hand receiving portion, and a button pressing portion. A longitudinal bore is disposed along the longitudinal axis of the body, and on one end. A transverse bore is disposed through the body into the longitudinal bore, with the transverse bore disposed such that the longitudinal axis of the transverse bore intersects the longitudinal axis of the longitudinal bore. A button disposed on and pivotably attached at a resilient member to the button pressing portion of the exterior of the body, with the button being proximal to the tool engaging portion. The button has a button bore and a boss extending from the button bore into the transverse bore which is alignable with the longitudinal bore. The button is disposed on the body to be thumb pressable, the button suitable for selectively engaging a corresponding groove on surgical tool.
