Aluminum-chromium diffusion coating
A process includes applying a slurry to a surface of a metallic article to produce a slurry film on the surface. The slurry is composed of a liquid carrier, chromium and aluminum, and an agent that is reactive with the chromium and aluminum to form intermediary compounds. The article and slurry film are then thermally treated at an activation temperature at which the agent reacts with the chromium and aluminum to form the intermediary compounds. The intermediary compounds deposit the chromium and aluminum on the surface. The thermal treating also diffuses the chromium and aluminum into a sub-surface region of the article such that the sub-surface region becomes enriched with chromium and aluminum.
ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
An article and a method of manufacturing the article is disclosed. The method includes providing the article including a substrate and a coating at least partially disposed on the substrate. The coating includes an outer surface. The coating further includes platinum and chromium. The method further includes applying cold work to the outer surface of the coating to produce a cold-worked layer extending from the outer surface of the coating to a cold work depth. The cold-worked layer includes approximately 45% cold work. The cold work depth is between about 30 microns to about 150 microns from the outer surface of the coating.
Methods for creating a zinc-metal oxide layer in metal components for corrosion resistance
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a finished metal object or product having a corrosion resistant layer integral to or within a top portion of at least one of its surfaces that would be exposed to a corrosive environment. In one embodiment, the method for manufacturing is directed to a finished metal tubing product having a corrosion resistant layer within its inside surface that is exposed to a fluid and wherein the corrosion resistant layer is a zinc-metal oxide layer, such as a zinc-chromium oxide layer, or a zinc-mixed metal oxide layer. In addition to methods of manufacturing, the present invention provides finished metal objects or products having a corrosion resistant layer integral to or within a top portion of at least one surfaces that would be exposed to a corrosive environment.

COATING FOR REFRACTORY ALLOY PART
A process for coating a part by chemical vapor diffusion is provided and includes placing a powder mixture in a chamber, immersing the part partially in the powder mixture, and applying a heat treatment to the part. The powder mixture includes a first component and a second component forming a gaseous compound during the heat treatment so as to allow deposition of the second component on the part. The part includes a metal refractory allow and the second component forms a solid diffusion alloy by solid diffusion with a metal species of the refractory metal alloy to generate a coating. The solid diffusion allow generates a passivating oxide layer when subjected to oxidizing conditions.
COATING FOR REFRACTORY ALLOY PART
A process for coating a part by chemical vapor diffusion is provided and includes placing a powder mixture in a chamber, immersing the part partially in the powder mixture, and applying a heat treatment to the part. The powder mixture includes a first component and a second component forming a gaseous compound during the heat treatment so as to allow deposition of the second component on the part. The part includes a metal refractory allow and the second component forms a solid diffusion alloy by solid diffusion with a metal species of the refractory metal alloy to generate a coating. The solid diffusion allow generates a passivating oxide layer when subjected to oxidizing conditions.
Rust prevention member and method for producing same
As a rust prevention member that has excellent corrosion resistance, while being provided with a coating film that contains Si, a rust prevention member which is provided with a base material, a zinc-based plating layer that is provided on the base material, and a chemical conversion coating film that contains Si and is provided on the zinc-based plating layer is described. This rust prevention member is characterized in that the chemical conversion coating film has an Si-rich region on the surface side, said Si-rich region having an atomic ratio of the Si content to the Zn content of 1 or more, while having a thickness of 100 nm or more.
SURFACE-TREATED STEEL SHEET AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A surface-treated steel sheet, including: a steel sheet; and a nickel-cobalt-iron diffusion layer formed as an outermost surface layer on the steel sheet. When a content of Ni, a content of Co and a content of Fe of the nickel-cobalt-iron diffusion layer are determined based on a Ni intensity, a Co intensity and a Fe intensity each sequentially measured in the depth direction from the surface side of the nickel-cobalt-iron diffusion layer by a radio frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometry, a content of Co at a specific depth position D, In.sub.Co_D, is 5% by mass or higher and a content of Fe at the specific depth position D, In.sub.Fe_D, is 11% by mass or higher, the specific depth position D being a position where the Ni intensity is 0.5% of the maximum value of the Ni intensity. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing the surface-treated steel sheet.
CHROMIUM-ENRICHED DIFFUSED ALUMINIDE COATING
A method of applying a protective coating to an article comprises the steps of a) depositing aluminum in a surface region of an article, and b) depositing chromium is the surface region of the article subsequent to step a), whereby at least a portion of the chromium replaces at least a portion of the aluminum. Another method and an article are also disclosed.
CHROMIUM-ENRICHED DIFFUSED ALUMINIDE COATING
A method of applying a protective coating to an article comprises the steps of a) depositing aluminum in a surface region of an article, and b) depositing chromium is the surface region of the article subsequent to step a), whereby at least a portion of the chromium replaces at least a portion of the aluminum. Another method and an article are also disclosed.
