Systems and methods for treating cancer using brachytherapy
Systems and methods are provided for treating cervical and/or uterine cancers in brachytherapy with an intracavitary brachytherapy applicator. The system comprises a tandem adapted for insertion into a cervix of a patient. An ovoid assembly comprises first and second inflatable ovoids and an ovoid support mechanism. The first and second inflatable ovoids are adapted for insertion within fornices of a patient. First and second retractors are adapted to be coupled to the ovoid assembly. The first retractor is adapted to be positioned to retract the bladder of a patient during treatment. The second retractor is adapted to be positioned to retract the rectum of a patient during treatment. The tandem and the first and second inflatable ovoids are adapted to be coupled to a radioactive source to deliver an implant radiation dose suitable for cancer treatment at a cancerous cervical treatment site in a patient.
SURGICAL RETRACTOR SYSTEM AND CLIP-ON JOINT CLAMP
A joint clamp for a surgical retractor system includes clamps, a cam bolt, and a cam lever. The cam bolt passes through the clamps. A cam lever comprising a cam head pivotally attached an upper portion the cam bolt to permit rotation between a locked position and an unlocked positions. The joint clamp may include springs which provide a scissors clamp of the clamps with a clip-on feature in which the scissors clamp may clipped-on and clipped-off an object such as a frame member, table post, or retractor handle. The springs may further prevent or reduce a rising movement of the clamps when the cam lever rotates from an unlocked state to a locked state.
TISSUE RETRACTION SYSTEM
A tissue retraction system comprising a drive gear coupled to a shaft. The tissue retraction system includes a first plurality of linking members located along a second axis and configured to rotate along the second axis based on contact with the drive gear as the drive gear is rotated. The tissue retraction system includes a linking member selector configured to rotate along the first axis, wherein the linking member selector comprises a cylindrical body integrally formed with a handle. The tissue retraction system includes a right arm assembly configured to move along a first trajectory. The tissue retraction system includes a first retractor blade coupled to the right arm assembly. The tissue retraction system includes a left arm assembly configured to move along a second trajectory. The tissue retraction system includes a second retractor blade coupled to the left arm assembly.
Nasal speculum
A nasal speculum, rhinoscope, designed for examination of the nasal cavity in both humans and animals, is characterized in that it is made from one piece of material and has a resilient arc-shaped connector (1) of the arms (2), said arms connected centrally to one another by means of a catch (3) located in opening (4), said arms extending beyond the said point of connection in the form of parallel shorter arms (5), said shorter arms terminating in appropriately shaped members (6) resembling a truncated cone, the speculum being also provided with a lip (7) positioning the arms of the speculum and with indentations (8) that prevent slipping of the hand when arms (2) are being pressed.
Retractor Tool Apparatus and Method of Manipulation
A retractor tool apparatus and method of manipulation are described. The retractor tool may include one or more blades. The one or more blades may be cranial/caudal blades. The one or more blades may be a medial blade. One or more portions of the retractor tool may be adjustable.
Universal surgical access system
A surgical system includes a surgical arm including at least a distal segment. The surgical system further includes a drape disposed over the surgical arm such that the surgical arm is at least partially covered by the drape. An instrument connector is coupled to the distal segment of the surgical arm through the drape and includes a stem and a shaft. The shaft is configured to receive a surgical instrument. When the instrument connector is coupled to the surgical arm, the instrument connector secures a portion of the drape against the distal segment of the surgical arm. Other example surgical systems and surgical arms are also disclosed.
Surgical retractor
A surgical retractor assembly is provided that can assume both open and closed positions, and is easily convertible from one position to the other. The retractor assembly involves an arcuate frame member that can be engaged to an arcuate connector, which together form a generally circular or elliptical retractor frame assembly. The frame member has a groove for the insertion of one or more mobile carriages that hold retractor blade posts and allow the posts to move in multiple directions. The carriages may be locked to prevent movement in one or more directions, as well.
ROBOTIC DILATOR
A dilator tool for use with a robotic surgical system is disclosed. In some embodiments, the dilator comprises a set of elongate members with an atraumatic form. The elongate members are individually controlled to manipulate tissue and push tissue away from a working channel. The operation to create a working channel may reduce the risk of tissue injury over traditional methods using a scalpel.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TISSUE RETRACTION
The present disclosure relates to the field of tissue dissection. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to medical devices that lift and retract tissue during a dissection procedure to improve visualization of the target tissue and mitigate obstructions for dissection tools. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices that transition from a constrained to an unconstrained bowed configuration to immobilize and retract the dissected portion of target tissue during a dissection procedure.
TISSUE RETRACTOR DEVICE
A tissue retractor device includes a first retractor, a second retractor and a band extending between the first retractor and the second retractor. The first and second retractors are configured to grasp edges of an incision while the band is configured to form an anatomy space and wrap around a patient's body part, while. At least one of the first retractor and the second retractor includes a first arcuate portion, a first connection portion and a first cam portion positioned between the first arcuate portion and the first connection portion. The first cam portion includes a cam surface for contacting the skin of a patient outside of an incision. The length of the band extending between the first retractor and the second retractor is adjustable.
