An inorganic film 13 which comprises a refractive index gradient film 13a having a refractive index changing continuously from n1 to n2 (n1<n2) and being a functional film; and a refractive index gradient film 13b having a refractive index changing continuously from n3 to n4 (n4<n3) and being a functional film, and in which further, a difference between n2 and n3 is 0.1 or less.
FLUORINATED COUPLING AGENTS AND FLUORINATED (CO)POLYMER LAYERS MADE USING THE SAME
Fluorinated coupling agents and polymerizable compositions including such fluorinated coupling agents and at least one free-radically polymerizable monomer, oligomer, or mixture thereof. Multilayer films including a substrate and at least a first layer overlaying a surface of the substrate also are described, in which the at least first layer includes a (co)polymer obtained by polymerizing the foregoing polymerizable compositions. Processes for making a multilayer film using the polymerizable composition also are taught. Articles including the multilayer film also are disclosed, in which the article preferably is selected from a photovoltaic device, a display device, a solid-state lighting device, a sensor, a medical or biological diagnostic device, an electrochromic device, light control device, or a combination thereof.
Display Apparatus and Methods
A display includes a plurality of pixel chips, chixels, provided on a substrate. The chixels and the light emitters thereon may be shaped, sized and arranged to minimize chixel, pixel, and sub-pixel gaps and to provide a seamless look between adjacent display modules. The substrate may include light manipulators, such as filters, light converters and the like to manipulate the light emitted from light emitters of the chixels. The light manipulators may be arranged to minimize chixel gaps between adjacent chixels.
INTEGRATED 3D METALLIZER
An apparatus and method for metallizing parts in an efficient manner. The apparatus includes a plurality of plates stacked together and spaced from one another in a manner that enables placement thereon of a plurality of part supports, which are affixed to the plates. Spindles are coupled to the part supports, wherein the spindles are configured to allow for rotation of the parts. The plates are also configured for rotation so that parts may be moved to a metallizer station and rotated at the metallizer station. The plates are supported by centered or offset plate supports. The part supports may be pins to which the spindles are coupled. The pins may be configured to rotate or the spindles may be configured to rotate on the pins. The stacked plates may be moved between a metallizer and parts loading and unloading stations in a convenient manner.
Method for forming a laminated film on a substrate
A method for forming a film on a substrate by continuous vapor deposition includes: introducing the substrate into a film-forming apparatus; conveying the substrate into a pretreatment compartment of a pressure reduction chamber of the film-forming apparatus; performing plasma pretreatment of the substrate including supplying a plasma source gas composed of argon and at least one of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide gas and ethylene, introducing the plasma source gas that has been supplied as plasma into a gap between a magnet of the pretreatment compartment and a pretreatment roller such that the plasma is entrapped in the gap, and holding the plasma and applying a voltage between the pretreatment roller and a plasma-supply nozzle; conveying the substrate into a vapor deposition compartment of the pressure reduction chamber; and forming the film by vapor deposition on a surface of the substrate which has been pretreated.
Systems for depositing coatings on surfaces and associated methods
Systems for depositing coatings onto surfaces of molds and other articles are generally provided. In some embodiments, a system is adapted and arranged to cause gaseous species to flow parallel to a filament array. In some embodiments, a system comprises one or more mold supports that are translatable.
Lighthouse scanner with a rotating mirror and a circular ring target
The present invention introduces a scanning arrangement and a method suitable for coating processes applying laser ablation. The arrangement is suited to prolonged, industrial processes. The arrangement comprises a target, which has an annular form. The laser beam direction is controlled by a rotating mirror locating along the center axis of the annular target. The scanning line will rotate circularly along the inner target surface when the mirror rotates. The focal point of the laser beams may be arranged to locate on the inner target surface to ensure a constant spot size. A ring-formed, a cylinder-shaped or a cut conical-shaped target may be used. The inner surface of the target may thus be tapered in order to control the release direction of the ablated material towards a substrate to be coated.
Method for manufacturing thin films by utilizing short laser pulses and composite target materials
The present invention presents a method for manufacturing tight and porous coatings from metallic, ceramic and organic materials by utilizing composite targets manufactured of two or several materials, which are disintegrated, and producing in this way material flow towards the object to be coated by utilizing short laser pulses directed to the target material. With the method it is possible to produce material structures in a controlled manner, minimizing the needed energy of the laser pulses and heat generation, and with the method it is also possible to improve productivity by correctly choosing the components for the target material.
