The present disclosure generally relates to a table-mounted retractor system for open-spine surgery. The table-mounted retractor system includes a frame, wherein the frame is situated lateral to the patient. The table-mounted retractor system further comprises a plurality of retractor hooks wherein each of the plurality of retractor hooks are in operative association with one of a plurality of tension lines, wherein each of the plurality of tension lines is engaged with the frame. Each one of the plurality of retractor hooks are operable to engage with the flesh of a patient as each of the tension lines pull the flesh back laterally towards the frame along each side of the patient.

Collapsible anvil plate assemblies for circular surgical stapling devices

Circular stapling instruments and anvil assemblies. The anvil assemblies may have collapsible anvil support members that may be inserted through an opening in a patient and then expanded to be attached to an anvil plate assembly that has a staple-forming surface thereon. The anvil support member is attachable to the anvil plate assembly in such a way that when the anvil assembly is coupled to the stapling head of a circular stapler, the staple-forming surface is in substantial registry with the staples supported in the stapling head. A variety of different anvil support members and anvil plate assemblies are disclosed.

Tissue retractor

A surgical site retractor is configured to retract tissue, such as in an intercostal procedure. The retractor may be formed from non-radiopaque material for improved monitoring via x-ray imaging. The retractor may have a rigid retractor and a soft tissue retractor, where the rigid retractor has a plurality of legs and the soft tissue retractor extends between the legs to prevent soft tissue from extending between said legs. The retractor may have a bendable arm with an implement holder, such as distal cuff or clip adapted to resiliently hold an implement such as a tube of an elongated port-access device. A method involves partly installing the surgical site retractor, expanding the surgical site retractor, deploying the surgical implement from outside the body through the incision and into the patient, resiliently capturing the implement with the holder of the arm, and bending the arm to hold the implement in a desired position.

SURGICAL BOWEL RETRACTOR DEVICES

Bowel retractor devices. In various forms, the bowel retractor devices are configurable from a collapsed position wherein the retractor may be inserted through a trocar cannula or other opening in a patient's body to a second expanded position wherein at least a portion of the patient's bowel may be advantageously supported in a desired position.

Malleable plastic surgical clip

An integral surgical clip includes two clamping arms and a non-spring-elastic connection portion that interconnects the two clamping arms in an integral manner. The two clamping arms on account of a plastic deformation of the clip are pivotable towards one another from an opened initial position up to a closed end position. The two clamping arms engage on the connection portion so as to be mutually spaced apart and are in each case extended beyond the connection portion by one lever arm molded thereon, and wherein, by squeezing the two lever arms, the two clamping arms, on account of a plastic deformation of the connection portion, are pivotable from the closed end position to an opened position. The two lever arms, in particular at the external ends thereof, are interconnected by an external connection arm.

HOOK AND FENESTRATION RETRACTOR

A surgical device for retraction of a body part is disclosed. The surgical device comprises an anchor at each end of the surgical device; an elongate body comprising a plurality of fenestrations along a body length wherein each fenestration is sized to receive at least part of one of the anchors; and a stopper preventing a tail end of the device being pulled through any of the plurality of fenestrations. The surgical device may also comprise additional features such as, the elongate body being sufficiently flexible to fold back or partly fold back on itself and the lead anchor and tail anchor being oriented in the same direction. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the surgical device; a method for inserting the surgical device; and a kit comprising the surgical device.

The system includes a frame composed of materials and geometry allowing selective deformation in a plane perpendicular to a patient's anatomy at the surgical site but resisting deformation in a plane parallel to the anatomy. The frame is connected to stabilizing features and sheets, which are attached to adhesive to secure the frame to the patient. The features, sheets, and adhesive layers extend both into and beyond the frame. An integrated sheet covers the prospective incision site on the patient. When positioned at the site, the frame conforms to the patient. Anchor points are distributed along the frame to reversibly secure and provide a stable base for surgical retractors, even when unilaterally applied. By adaptable positioning and design of the stabilizing members and adhesive layers on the frame, the system is able to provide optimal tractional stability when experiencing tensile loads in myriad surgical environments including ophthalmic and spinal surgery.
