Piston ring
A piston ring (10) has a running surface (12) and a flank surface (14) which are coated. The uppermost layer of the running surface (12) is a hydrogen-containing or a hydrogen-free DLC layer, and the uppermost layer of at least one flank surface (14) is a chromium layer. A method of producing a piston ring (10) includes forming a DLC layer as the uppermost layer of the running surface (12), and forming a chromium layer as the uppermost layer of at least one flank surface (14).
Castings and Manufacture Methods
A method includes casting a metallic material (56) in a mold (20) containing a core, the core having a substrate (40, 44) coated with a coating (42). A removing of the metallic material from the mold and decoring leaves a casting having a layer formed by the coating. The coating has a ceramic having a porosity in a zone (50) near the substrate less than a porosity in a zone (52) away from the substrate.
Coated cutting tool and a method for coating the cutting tool
A coated cutting tool includes a substrate with a coating having a total thickness of 0.25-30 μm. The coating has a first layer and a second layer, the first layer being a wear resistant PVD deposited layer having a thickness of 0.2-15 μm arranged between the substrate and the second layer, and wherein the second layer is a Cr layer.
Sealing system for a rotor blade and housing
The invention relates to a ceramic sealing system between a rotor blade (120) and a housing (I). A small porous zirconium oxide layer (II) on a turbine rotor blade, which zirconium oxide layer faces a ceramic layer system (15′, 15″) of higher porosity, achieves durable sealing systems. The housing (I″) has a metal substrate (7), a metal adhesion-promoting layer (10), and a thick, outer, ceramic layer (15′, 15″) based on zirconium oxide, in particular having a porosity 2≥14%.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool comprises a substrate and an AlTiN layer, the AlTiN layer including a first major surface and a second major surface, the AlTiN layer including a first region having a distance of 0 nm or more and 30 nm or less from the first major surface and having a maximum oxygen content ratio of more than 0 atomic % and less than 5 atomic %, a second region having a distance of more than 30 nm and 100 nm or less from the first major surface and having a maximum oxygen content ratio of 5 atomic % or more and 30 atomic % or less, and a third region having a distance of more than 100 nm and 150 nm or less from the first major surface and having a maximum oxygen content ratio of more than 0 atomic % and less than 5 atomic %.
Thermal Barrier Coating
A coated substrate has a substrate and a coating system having one or more ceramic layers. At least a first layer of one of the one or more ceramic layers is a columnar layer having as-deposited columns and intercolumn gaps. The intercolumn gaps have a mean width at least one of: at least 4.0 micrometers; and at least 1.5% of a thickness of said first layer.
THERMAL BARRIER COATING FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE COMPONENTS
A component for a gas turbine engine according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure can include a substrate, a thermal barrier coating deposited on at least a portion of the substrate, and an outer layer deposited on at least a portion of the thermal barrier coating. The outer layer can include a material that is reactive with an environmental contaminant that comes into contact with the outer layer to alter a microstructure of the outer layer.
MULTI-LAYER COATINGS FOR A RAZOR BLADE
A razor blade including: a substrate having a tip portion including a tip region, a blade body including a base, and first and second outer sides disposed opposite a split line of the substrate that converge at a tip; and first and second coatings disposed substantially on the first and second outer sides, respectively. Also provided is a method of coating the razor blade, including: applying a first coating to at least a portion of the first outer side; and applying a second coating to at least a portion of the second outer side. The first and second coatings each extend from the tip region toward the base and are substantially different, as compared to each other. One or both of the first and second coatings comprise a plurality of layers of material.
Semiconductor manufacturing apparatus member, and display manufacturing apparatus and semiconductor manufacturing apparatus comprising semiconductor manufacturing apparatus member
According to one embodiment, a semiconductor manufacturing apparatus member includes a base and a particle-resistant layer. The base includes a main portion and an alumite layer. The main portion includes aluminum. The alumite layer is provided at a front surface of the main portion. The particle-resistant layer is provided on the alumite layer and includes a polycrystalline ceramic. An Al purity of the main portion is 99.00% or more.
COATED RAZOR BLADES COMPRISING GRAPHENE
A hard coating for a substrate or portion of a razor blade wherein a main layer of the hard coating includes graphene and/or any combination of derivatives thereof. The graphene may be deposited on the substrate or portion of the razor blade using plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) or similar process.
