A surgical suturing device (10) having an axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end is operable to move a suture (32) through body tissue (34). A handle assembly (110) is coupled to an elongated shaft (14) having a hollow configuration. An actuating rod (16) is disposed to extend between the handle assembly (110) and the shaft (14). A thumb actuation assembly is coupled to a proximal end of the actuating rod (16) for moving the rod both axially and rotationally. A needle assembly (2) at the distal end of the actuating rod (16) is movable with the actuating rod (16) between an extended state and a retracted state and at various angular orientations.

Surgical suture device and methods of using the same

A medical instrument, such as a surgical device for manipulating and placing a tissue suture and methods of using the same is disclosed. The device comprises a handle, a hollow shaft removably coupled to the handle assembly and a stylet extending within the hollow shaft and longitudinally slideable therein. Preferably, the stylet is not rotationally moveable relative to the shaft. The stylet may be moved between a first position wherein a grasping member formed on the stylet is retracted into a distal end portion of the shaft and a second position wherein the grasping member extends distally beyond the distal end portion of the shaft. Distal movement of an actuation member on the handle correspondingly moves the stylet to the extended position and movement of the actuation member to a proximal position on the handle correspondingly moves the stylet to the retracted position. Lateral movement of the actuation member on the handle does not impart rotational movement of the stylet relative to the shaft.

CERVICAL CERCLAGE WITH SURGICAL BUTTONS

Embodiments of the present invention provide a cervical cerclage apparatus and a method for performing a cervical cerclage. In an embodiment of the invention, a cervical cerclage apparatus includes, a length of suture and at least two stitched regions formed by the length of suture around an exterior surface of a cervix. The cervical cerclage apparatus further includes at least two surgical buttons attached the length of suture, each surgical button comprising an inner face and an outer face, wherein the inner face of each surgical button are configured to be placed against the exterior surface of the cervix between the stitched regions, wherein at least one of the surgical buttons comprises Progesterone.

Implant placement systems, devices, and methods

Described herein is a simplified placement system and method for a tissue graft anchor by which a surgeon may introduce one or more sutures into a hole in a boney tissue, apply tension to the sutures to advance a soft tissue graft to a desired location, and then advance the anchor into the bone while maintaining suture tension and without introducing spin to the suture.

Suture anchor with relief mechanism

Methods and devices are provided for attaching soft tissue to bone. In general, a deployment device, insertion assembly, and suture anchor are provided. The insertion assembly is coupled between the deployment device and the suture anchor to allow the deployment device to deploy the suture anchor into bone. Each of the various components disclosed herein can be used alone, in combination with one another, or in combination with various other devices.

Fracture fixation device

Assemblies for securing fractured bone are provided. The assembly includes a first fixation element, a second fixation element, and an adjustable flexible member construct. The first fixation element having a male or a female sleeve is secured within a first portion of the fractured bone. The second fixation element having the other of the male or female sleeve telescopically received within the one of the male or female sleeve is secured within a second portion of the fractured bone. The adjustable flexible member construct extends between the first and second fixation elements and has at least one adjustable loop coupled to the first fixation element and the second fixation element and a pair of adjusting ends extending through an opening in the first fixation element. The pair of adjusting ends can be pulled to reduce a diameter of the adjustable loop and to compress fragments of the fractured bone.

Methods and systems for attaching tissue to bone

A system and method for attaching tissue to bone are provided. In one embodiment, a system for attaching tissue to bone includes a suture, suture anchor, inserter tool, drill, and drill guide having an outer guide and an inner guide. A method for attaching tissue to bone includes attaching a suture to tissue, nesting the suture in a notch on the distal end of the outer guide, passing the suture through a lumen formed in the outer guide, and inserting an inner guide in a lumen formed in the outer guide. The drill guide protects the suture from rotational movement of the drill and allows a user to maintain alignment between the drill guide and the drilled hole. As a result, a suture anchor can be more easily positioned within the drilled hole.

Devices for delivering implants

This invention generally relates to devices and methods that allow an operator to deliver a suture and an implant coupled to the suture into the body of a patient without the need for direct-vision of the operator. In one aspect, a medical device includes a receiving arm that releasably holds an implant or suture in place for capture and a clamping arm that includes a needle deployment mechanism for advancing a needle directly to the implant for capture and for retracting the needle with the implant attached to deliver the implant into the desired location. The receiving arm includes a cavity with inner walls that are angled to direct the needle through the opening after the advancing needle pierces and goes through tissue of the patient. The angled walls facilitate movement of the needle into a position within the cavity where the implant gets engaged with the needle.

Circular bone tunneling device employing a stabilizing element

The present invention provides a circular bone tunneling device, comprising: a hollow elongate body comprising a hollow elongate body head, said hollow elongate body head defining a rigid circular arc, comprising a surgical needle; an extendable and retractable support element, reconfigurable from an extended configuration to a retracted configuration; said support element, in said extended configuration, adapted to be located along said path formed by said rigid circular arc; said support element and said hollow elongate body head are adapted to grasp said bone from at least two points along the circumference of said bone; a stabilizing element.
