Vascular device and method for valve leaflet apposition
A vascular device having a plurality of struts having a distal portion and a proximal portion. The distal portion of the struts are retained in a converged position. The struts diverge radially outwardly. A plurality of vessel penetrating members extend from the proximal portion of the struts for engaging the internal wall of the vessel, wherein release of the retention of the distal portions of the struts causes the distal portions to move outwardly away from the longitudinal axis and the proximal portions of the struts to move inwardly toward the longitudinal axis such that the vessel engaging members pull the internal wall of the vessel radially inwardly.
Motion control and vertebral fixation device
A vertebral fixation plate assembly for securing adjacent vertebral bodies is provided that is configured to distract or extend along its length, as well as provide multiple degrees of freedom between the fixation points and the vertebral fixation plate in order to accommodate different installation locations, as well as different surgical approaches. Methods of using the vertebral fixation plate assembly are also provided.
Endoluminal device and method
An endoluminal device can be configured for precise positioning during deployment within a vessel. The endoluminal device can be a tack, stent, vascular implant or other type of implant. The endoluminal device can have circumferential member with an undulating configuration having multiple inward and outward apexes and struts extending therebetween. Two of the struts can be used to establish a foot for the precise positioning of the device during deployment. A method of placing the endoluminal device can include withdrawing an outer sheath such that a portion of the endoluminal device is expanded prior to the rest of the endoluminal device.
Endovascular staple clip and stapler
A staple clip for providing an attachment function in a surgical procedure is described. A center hub has a center hub aperture. The center hub defines a lateral hub plane. A plurality of joining legs each has an inner leg end attached to the center hub and an outer foot defining a lateral foot plane. The inner leg end and outer foot are separated along the leg by an elongate leg body extending laterally outward and longitudinally downward from the center hub. A plurality of lobe pads are attached to the center hub and lie substantially within the lateral hub plane. The inner leg ends and lobe pads alternate with each other around a periphery of the center hub.
SURGICAL STAPLING DEVICE AND FASTENER FOR PATHOLOGICAL EXAM
A surgical stapling device includes a tool assembly that includes a staple cartridge having a cartridge body that defines a central knife slot, rows of first staple receiving pockets on one side of the central knife slot, and a row of second staple receiving pockets on a second side of the knife slot. The first staple receiving pockets receive staples having a substantially U-shaped configuration that can be formed into a B-shape. The second staple receiving slots receive substantially Y-shaped staples which minimize damage to tissue and can be removed from the tissue more easily to allow for pathological examination of the tissue.
Cartridge with multi-clip dispensing provisions
An endoscopic surgical apparatus is configured to be loaded with a replaceable cartridge. The cartridge is loaded with a single-file line-up of a series of endoscopic clips. The endoscopic surgical apparatus is furthermore configured to apply (ie., dispense) each clip serially in the line-up, one clip at a time, wherever and whenever the user (eg., surgeon) chooses.
Biometallic Alloy Surgical Staples and Methods
A surgical staple is provided. The surgical staple includes a crown having a center portion and a foldable portion, and a pair of legs extending orthogonally from the crown and configured to puncture tissue. The crown and the pair of legs are fabricated from a biodegradable metal such that biodegradation causes the center portion to separate from the foldable portion and the pair of legs, and the foldable portion and the pair of legs are absorbable within the tissue.
Staple cartridge comprising an implantable layer
A surgical end effector comprising a staple cartridge, an anvil, and a compressible portion intermediate the staple cartridge and the anvil is disclosed. The compressible portion comprises a plurality of tubular members.
Heart valve sealing devices and delivery devices therefor
An implantable prosthetic device includes a coaption portion, paddles, and clasps. The paddles are moveable from a closed position to an open position. The clasps are also moveable from an open position to a closed position. The implantable prosthetic device can be used to repair a native valve, such as a native mitral valve. Other embodiments are also described.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MESH AUGMENTATION AND PREVENTION OF INCISIONAL HERNIA
Techniques for mesh augmentation and prevention of incisional hernia, including systems and methods for affixing mesh to a fascial incision. A mesh strip can be integrated with one or more uni-directional fasteners. Each fastener can include an anchoring mechanism adapted for affixation to anterior abdominal wall fascia and a mating interface. An applicator can include tension arms adapted to interface with the mating interfaces of the fasteners to maintain a vertical tension of the mesh strip and a handle coupled with the tension arms adapted to spread the tension arms and thereby control a horizontal tension of the mesh strip. The mesh strip can be configured to be aligned over a fascial incision using the applicator and affixed under tension to anterior abdominal wall fascia by tissue penetration of the anchoring mechanisms of the one or more fasteners.
