SOFT TISSUE REPAIR DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
A soft tissue repair device. The device includes an inserter having a distal portion, a first anchor carried externally onto the distal portion, a second anchor carried externally onto the distal portion, and a flexible strand coupling the first and second anchors and forming an adjustable knotless loop.
Suture passers adapted for use in constrained regions
Described herein suture passer apparatus (devices and systems) that may be used to suture tissue within a narrow, confined space. In particular, described herein are suture passers having an elongate body and a lower jaw member that houses a tissue penetrator that is adapted to extend laterally from the lower jaw member and be deflected by a second jaw member? The second jaw member typically deflects the tissue penetrator either distally or proximally.
Suture passers adapted for use in constrained regions
Described herein suture passer apparatus (devices and systems) that may be used to suture tissue within a narrow, confined space. In particular, described herein are suture passers having an elongate body and a bent lower jaw member that houses a tissue penetrator that is adapted to extend laterally through the bend region, and then be laterally deflected from the lower jaw member to a second jaw (e.g. bendable or pivoting) upper member.
Methods and apparatus for implanting prostheses
A deployment device for a tissue repair system includes a front delivery assembly that is detachable from a base assembly of the deployment device. The front delivery assembly includes at least one prosthesis and at least one driven assembly that actuates the at least one prosthesis. The base assembly includes a driving assembly that may engage the at least one driven assembly of the at least one prosthesis. The front delivery assembly can be rotated so that the position of a prosthesis in the front delivery assembly is moved in and out of alignment with the driving assembly. A kit of parts may be provided that includes a base assembly as well as two or more detachable front delivery assemblies.
Circulation replenishing joint implant
A joint implant device is presented. In embodiments, the device may include a central cylindrical anchor with a sharp distal end and a substantially flat proximal portion. In embodiments, the anchor may be provided with at least one longitudinally extending microtube, to convey at least one of blood and nutrients from the distal end to a proximal end. In embodiments, there may be a plurality of microtubes, each having an intake in the distal end and multiple outflows in the proximal portion. In some embodiments the device may include an eyelet through which a suture may be provided for additional fixation into a joint.
Nasal valve implants and methods of implanting the same
A nasal valve implant delivery system includes a delivery tool having a handle and a needle extending distally therefrom and configured to hold an implant therein. When loaded in the needle, the implant proximally abuts or is disposed adjacent to a pusher member disposed partially within the needle. A light source disposed within the delivery tool is coupled to an optical fiber carried within a lumen of the pusher member. The delivery tool includes a moveable needle shuttle disposed in the handle that is coupled to the needle. An actuator disposed in the handle is configured to releaseably engage with the moveable needle shuttle, wherein the needle shuttle is coupled to one or more springs configured to apply a proximal tensioning force on the needle shuttle, wherein actuation of the actuator retracts the needle proximally into the handle and releases the implant.
SOFT TISSUE REPAIR ASSEMBLY AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A soft tissue repair assembly. The assembly includes a flexible member having first and second ends, and a strand passing through the flexible member. The strand has first and second strand ends extending through the flexible member, such that pulling at least one of the first and second strand ends changes the flexible member from a first shape suitable for insertion through soft tissue to a second shape suitable for securely lodging the soft tissue repair assembly relative to soft tissue.
Tissue Repair System
An apparatus for repairing an anatomical tear, such as a tear in the meniscus of a human knee. The apparatus includes a guide cannula directing a penetrating shaft through the meniscal tear and through the outer skin layer of the knee. The penetrating shaft pulls a line to the outside of the skin layer of the knee where it is used to pull or kedge a repair implant into position across the meniscal tear.
Method for arthroscopic tissue repair
A surgical rivet device for the repair of torn menisci and other intra-articular bodily tissues is disclosed in which the device comprises a shaft, projecting fins and a penetration head at one end and a wide rear portion. The device is inserted by a driving mechanism through both sides of the torn meniscus, compressing the tear in the meniscus between the fins near the head and the wide rear portion, holding the tear together. After insertion, the driving mechanism is separated from the rivet, leaving the rivet device in the patient. The rivet device is entirely biodegradable and absorabable by the body.
