MODULAR BONE IMPLANT DEVICES AND MEANS OF INSERTION
A modular bone fixation implant includes a center post having exterior bone engaging features and configured to be implanted within a bone. The center post includes an aperture at an outer end of the center post. One or more interchangeable modular components may be placed within the bone and anchored to the aperture of the center post. Interchangeable modular components may include staples, bone plates, and spacers, each having at least a first end including a post engaging arm sized and shaped to seat within an interlocking feature of the aperture. A locking screw is provided to anchor all components to the center post when the interchangeable modular components have been placed.
System, device and method for reshaping a valve annulus
A valve annulus repair system joins anchors at one or both of their proximal and distal ends to construct an implant to reshape the annulus. A removable frame may be used to position the anchors proximate to the annulus and to adjust the shape of the annulus. The frame may support the anchors during deployment of the system, release the anchors during construction of the implant, adjust the shape of the implant (and concomitantly the shape of the reconstructed valve) during an adjustment/cinching process, retain the adjusted shape of the valve annulus while relative anchor positions are secured, and release the anchors to enable the frame to be removed from the deployment site following implant construction. With such a system, a low-profile, flexile annular valve implant with reduced the risks of migration, fracture, embolism and thrombus may be provided.
IMPLANT FIXATION DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
According to an aspect, a medical device includes an elongate member, a first arm extending from the elongate member, a second arm extending from the elongate member, the second arm being configured to move with respect to the first arm, and a needle coupled to the elongate member, the needle being configured to move with respect to the elongate member.
MEDICAL IMPLANT DELIVERY SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS
An implant delivery system is disclosed. The implant delivery system includes a delivery shaft and a detachable frame longitudinally advanceable relative to a delivery sheath. A tether is secured to the detachable frame and extends through a lumen of the delivery shaft to a handle. The tether may be secured to a connection assembly, including a tack member, a tack disk and a collar. The connection assembly may be attached to the detachable frame. The handle may include a tether clamp to secure the tether relative to the handle.
HANDLING OF FASTENERS WITHIN A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
Surgical instruments and their methods of use are disclosed. In some embodiments, the surgical instrument may include a handle and an elongated shaft assembly extending distally from the handle. The surgical instrument may also include a fastener deployment system for deploying fasteners from the elongated shaft assembly including a reciprocating driveshaft disposed within the elongated shaft assembly. The driveshaft may include an internal channel and at least one guide surface shaped and arranged to maintain an orientation of at least one fastener in the channel of the driveshaft. In other embodiments, the fastener deployment system may include a follower disposed within the elongated shaft assembly for displacing one or more fasteners within the elongated shaft assembly towards a distal fastener deployment position.
CONTINUOUS COMPRESSION FIXATION DEVICE FOR THE FUSION OF AN INTERCALARY STRUCTURAL AUGMENT
A method is disclosed for providing a continuous compression fixation device for coupling a first bony structure to a second bony structure. The method can include providing a body structure and providing a plurality of arm structures coupled to and extending from the body structure. The method can include deflecting the tips of the at least one of the plurality of arm structures and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures away; coupling the at least one of the plurality of arm structures to the first bony structure and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures to the second bony structure; and releasing the tips of the at least one of the plurality of arm structures and the at least one opposed one of the plurality of arm structures to provide the compressive force.
Apparatus and methods for closing vessels
Apparatus and methods are provided for closing a tubular structure within a patient's body. The apparatus includes a needle including a proximal end including a hub, a distal end including a sharpened distal tip, a lumen having an oblong cross-section extending proximally from the distal end, and defining a longitudinal axis between the proximal and distal ends, and a clip deliverable from the lumen. The clip is compressible between a relaxed state in which a plurality of tines of the clip are shaped to engage and close a tubular structure within a patient's body, and a stressed state in which the tines are compressed to allow the clip to be loaded into the. The apparatus may also include a pusher member for deploying the clip from the distal tip of the needle such that the tines engage and close a tubular structure through which the tubular member is directed.
WOUND CLOSURE DEVICE FOR WIDE TREATMENT AREAS
A wound closure device includes an elastic substrate and a plurality of microstructure arrays coupled to the elastic substrate via an adhesive layer. The device is long enough or wide enough to treat large wounds with the plurality of microstructure arrays distributed along a length of the wound.
BI-DIRECTIONAL FIXATING/LOCKING TRANSVERTEBRAL BODY SCREW/INTERVERTEBRAL CAGE STAND-ALONE CONSTRUCTS HAVING A CENTRAL SCREW LOCKING LEVER, AND PLIERS AND DEVICES FOR SPINAL FUSION
A bi-directional fixating transvertebral (BDFT) screw/cage apparatus including an intervertebral cage for maintaining disc height, and a method of inserting the same is provided. The intervertebral cage includes a first internal screw guide and a second internal screw guide, a first screw member and a second screw member, and a central screw locking lever coupled to the intervertebral cage, wherein the central screw locking lever prevents the first screw member and the second screw from pulling-out of the first internal screw guide and the second internal screw guide. The central screw locking lever includes a rotatable handle and stem portion, or a screw locking horizontal bracket. A pliers device for inserting and removing the bi-directional fixating transvertebral (BDFT) screw/cage apparatus, a posterior cervical and lumbar facet joint staple, and a staple gun for a posterior cervical and lumbar facet joint staple also are provided.
Multiple anchor delivery tool
A tube and a set of anchors, are transluminally advanced toward a heart of a subject. Tabs are distributed axially along an anchor storage area of the tube, each of the tabs protruding medially from a circumferential wall of the tube. The anchors are disposed in the anchor storage area, a first anchor engaged and restrained by a first tab at a first axial location of the tube, and a second anchor engaged and restrained by a second tab at a second axial location of the tube proximal from the first axial location. The first anchor is engaged by the driver at the first axial location, advanced to a distal end of the tube, and anchored to tissue of the heart. Subsequently, the second anchor is engaged by the driver at the second axial location, advanced to the distal end of the tube, and anchored to the tissue.
