METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF ELEMENTAL SULFUR BY PART OR FULLY CATALYTIC OXIDATION OF CLAUS TAIL GAS
A process and a process plant for production of elemental sulfur from a feedstock gas including from 15 vol % to 100 vol % H2S and a stream of sulfuric acid, the process including a) providing a Claus reaction furnace feed stream with a substoichiometric amount of oxygen, b) directing s to a reaction furnace operating at elevated temperature, c) cooling, d) directing to contact a material catalytically active in the Claus reaction, e) withdrawing a Claus tail gas and elemental sulfur, f) directing to a means for sulfur oxidation, g) directing to contact a material catalytically active in SO2 oxidation to SO3, h) converting to concentrated sulfuric acid, i) recycling to the Claus reaction furnace, wherein an amount of combustibles, in the Claus tail gas, is oxidized in the presence of a material catalytically active in sulfur oxidation, at an inlet temperature below 400° C.

REVAMPING OF A CLAUS PLANT WITH A SULFURIC ACID PLAN
A revamp process for modifying a sulfur abatement plant including a Claus process plant, the Claus process plant including a Claus reaction furnace and one or more Claus conversion stages, each Claus conversion stage including a conversion reactor and a means for elemental sulfur condensation, and a means of Claus tail gas oxidation configured for receiving a Claus tail gas from said Claus process plant and configured for providing an oxidized Claus tail gas, the process revamp including: a) providing a sulfuric acid producing tail gas treatment plant producing sulfuric acid, and b) providing a means for transferring an amount or all of the sulfuric acid produced in said sulfuric acid producing tail gas treatment plant to said Claus reaction furnace, wherein the moles of sulfur in the transferred sulfuric acid relative to the moles of elemental sulfur withdrawn from the Claus process plant is from 3% to 25%.

PROCESS SYSTEM AND PROCESS METHOD FOR CONVERSION F SULFUR-CONTAINING FLUE GAD TO SULFURIC ACID
Disclosed is a process system and a process for converting the sulfur-containing flue gas into the sulfuric acid. The process system comprises: a flue gas preheater, which for preheating the sulfur-containing flue gas to 15˜30° C. above its dew point, and the flue gas preheater has a glass tube as a heat exchange tube; a flue gas fan for boosting the pressure of the preheated acid process gas and transporting one part of which to a combustion furnace, and the other part of which to a process gas steam heater; a sulfuric acid steam condenser for condensing SO.sub.3 generated by the combined reactor into sulfuric acid. The device of the present invention can resist the fluctuation of SO.sub.2 concentration in the feed gas, and can realize considerable economic benefits and rational utilization of energy.

Layout for inter-bed cooling in sulfuric acid plants
In a converter for the catalytic oxidation of SO.sub.2 to SO.sub.3 in a sulfuric acid plant, which comprises a boiler section for the cooling of process gas between catalytic layers (beds), one or more water tube boilers (inter-bed boilers) having horizontal or slightly sloped tubes are used to cool the process gas between the catalytic layers (beds) in the converter. Each water tube boiler is provided with a process gas side bypass to control the temperature to the downstream catalyst layer.
Method for production of sulfur and sulfuric acid
A process plant including a Claus reaction furnace, a means of Claus gas cooling, a Claus conversion section, a means for Claus tail gas oxidation and a sulfuric acid section, wherein a sulfuric acid outlet of the sulfuric acid section is in fluid communication with an inlet of said Claus reaction furnace, as well as a related process. The process has the associated benefit of such a process avoiding undesired production of sulfuric acid, as well as reducing the Claus process gas volume.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SULFUR DIOXIDE AND ASSOCIATED SULFURIC ACID PLANT
Improved systems and methods are disclosed for producing sulfur dioxide using oxygen and submerged combustion. By incorporating a vapour phase combusting step in addition to the submerged combusting step, the downstream sulfur condenser may be made substantially smaller with reduced complexity and cost. Further, energy recovery is simplified and improved.
Method and equipment for cooling sulphuric acid
A method and system for cooling sulfuric acid aqueous solutions (H.sub.2SO.sub.4) belonging to the field of chemical processes, which is part of a contact process for production of sulfuric acid with or without energy recovery. The method comprises absorption of SO.sub.3, which produces heated concentrated sulfuric acid and indirectly cooling the hot acid. The method uses a sulfuric acid-inert coolant. A cooling step comprises an intermediate indirect acid-fluid cooling and a second fluid-water or fluid indirect cooling stepthird fluid, wherein when the process is of the type with energy recovery. A third step includes energy recovery, steam generation. A system to perform the method, which works next to the SO.sub.3 absorption tower comprises an acid cooling loop consisting of an intermediate acid-fluid heat exchanger; a second fluid-water heat exchanger, and when the process is of the type with energy recovery, said equipment further includes a steam generation boiler.
