Systems, devices, and methods for endoscope or laparoscopic magnetic navigation
The invention provides systems, devices, and methods for the delivery, deployment, and positioning of magnetic compression devices at a desired site so as to improve the accuracy of anastomoses creation between tissues, organs, or the like.
Anastomosis devices
Implantable medical devices for connecting tissue layers or occluding body conduits and tissue structures include apposition portions, a central region, and a covering material. The methods of using the devices include endoscopic deployment, and the devices may include self-expanding frameworks that facilitate a secure connection between the tissue structures. In some embodiments, one or more tethers are used to longitudinally contract the device in situ.
TUBULAR TISSUE REMOVAL PROCEDURE
A method for removing diseased tissue from a tubular organ includes receiving a distal end portion of a tubular body of a surgical stapling device within a tubular organ of a patient. The method further includes retracting a diseased section of tissue of the tubular organ within a lumen of the tubular body. Proximal and distal margin lines of the tubular organ are then positioned adjacent a cylindrical anvil member disposed on the distal end portion of the tubular body. A cartridge assembly is then received within the tubular body in alignment with the anvil member such that sections of healthy tissue are disposed between the cartridge assembly and the anvil assembly. A plurality of staples is then ejected radially outward from within the cartridge assembly through the sections of healthy tissue disposed between the cartridge assembly and the anvil member, and into the anvil member. The diseased tissue is removed through the tubular body of the surgical stapling device.
Multi-segment reinforced actuators and applications
A multi-segment reinforced actuator includes (a) a soft actuator body that defines a chamber and (b) a plurality of distinct reinforcement structures on or in respective segments of the soft actuator body. First and second reinforcement structures are respectively configured to produce a first and second actuation motions, respectively, in first and second segments of the soft actuator body when fluid flows into or out of the chamber. The actuation motions are selected bending, extending, expansion, contraction, twisting, and combinations thereof; and the first actuation motion differs from the second actuation motion. The actuator can be used, e.g., to facilitate bending of the thumb with corresponding bending, extending, expansion, contraction, and twisting actuation motions.
Methods for targeting a body passage to effect fluid flow
A device includes a first end portion, a second end portion, an intermediate portion, and a graft material. The first end portion has a first end diameter. The second end portion has a second end diameter smaller than the first end diameter. The first end portion comprises a first material. The second end portion comprises a second material different than the first material. The intermediate portion is between the first end portion and the second end portion. The intermediate portion tapers between the first end portion and the second end portion. The graft material is coupled to at least the intermediate portion.
Percutaneous arterial to venous anastomosis clip application catheter system and methods
A method of creating an anastomosis includes steps of advancing a distal tip of a catheter device through a first blood vessel into a second blood vessel, while simultaneously advancing a proximal base of the device into the first vessel, contacting a wall of the first vessel with a distal blunt surface on the proximal base. A further step is to retract the distal tip so that a proximal blunt base of the distal tip contacts a wall of the second vessel, thereby capturing the two vessel walls between the blunt surfaces of the proximal base and the distal tip. A controlled pressure is applied between the two blunt surfaces to compress and stabilize the captured tissue and approximate the vessel walls. A clip is deployed through the captured tissue to hold the tissue in place during the anastomosis procedure. The anastomosis is created by applying cutting energy to the captured tissue.

An anastomosis set for anastomosing a first end to be anastomosed with a second end to be anastomosed, such anastomosis set comprising: a first manipulator, with a first telescoping part at a distal end thereof, the first telescoping part is used for telescoping toward the first end to be anastomosed; a second manipulator, with a second telescoping part at a distal end thereof, the second telescoping part is used for telescoping toward the second end to be anastomosed; and an anastomosis mechanism for anastomosing the first end to be anastomosed with the second end to be anastomosed; the first manipulator including a first exit part through which the first manipulator will be removed from the first end to be anastomosed after anastomosing; the second manipulator has a second exit part, through which the second manipulator will be removed from the second end to be anastomosed after anastomosing.
METHODS FOR TREATING HYPERTENSION AND REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE WITH FORMATION OF FISTULA
Described here are devices and methods for treating hypertension by forming a fistula between two blood vessels to reduce blood pressure of a patient. The fistula may be formed using a catheter having an electrode that is placed in a first blood vessel. In some instances, a desired amount of blood pressure is determined. In other instances, the hypertension is drug resistant hypertension.
FIXING DEVICE FOR BLOOD VESSEL SUTURING
A fixing device for suturing of blood vessels is provided, which includes a connecting rod, a first clamping member, a second clamping member, a first extension tube and a second extension tube. One end of the first clamping member is disposed on the connecting rod, and the other end of the first clamping member has a first clamping head. One end of the second clamping member is disposed on the connecting rod, and the other end of the second clamping member has a second clamping head. The first extension tube is disposed on an inner side of the first clamping head. The second extension tube is disposed on an inner side of the second clamping head and opposite to the first extension tube, wherein a relative position of the first extension tube and the second extension tube is adjustable.
Automated surgical and interventional procedures
Described herein are an apparatus and methods for automating subtasks in surgery and interventional medical procedures. The apparatus consists of a robotic positioning platform, an operating system with automation programs, and end-effector tools to carry out a task under supervised autonomy. The operating system executes an automation program, based on one or a fusion of two or more imaging modalities, guides real-time tracking of mobile and deformable targets in unstructured environment while the end-effector tools execute surgical interventional subtasks that require precision, accuracy, maneuverability and repetition. The apparatus and methods make these medical procedures more efficient and effective allowing a wider access and more standardized outcomes and improved safety.
