Platform Device and Method of Use to Assist in Anastomosis Formation
20220031326 · 2022-02-03 ·

There is described a platform device for use in forming an anastomosis and maintaining a desired curvature of a lumen in a desired shape during an anastomosis assistance period. The platform is formed from one or more bioabsorbable or biodegradable polymer filaments. There is also described a method for inserting a platform device for use in creation of an arteriovenous fistula by identifying a candidate artery and a candidate vein and dissecting the candidate vein. Next, inserting a platform device into the vein and creating a breach in the candidate artery at a desired angle and location. Next, introducing the platform device and vein into the candidate artery and forming the platform device into a curvature angle selected to minimize turbulent blood flow in an anastomosis formed by the vein and the artery. The platform may also be used to maintain potency of supply blood vessels and/or organ blood vessels or the lumens during an organ transplant procedure.

MINIMALLY TRAUMATIC ANASTOMOSIS

An anastomosis prosthesis comprising a tubular member with a leading end comprising a leading edge, and a trailing end comprising a trailing edge, wherein the leading end of the tubular member is reversibly, radially compressible, and the leading edge of the tubular member is provided with one or more radially outwardly directed flexible, substantially linear anchoring members. The anchoring members are initially arranged at an angle in relation to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member such that the anchoring members point in the direction of the trailing end of the tubular member.

TRANSCAVAL VENTURI

A device may provide a fluid connection between fluid vessels, such as between an inferior vena cava and an abdominal aorta. The device may include a conduit structure for deployment in a first fluid vessel or a shunt structure for deployment within a passage between the first fluid vessel and a second fluid vessel that is adjacent to the first fluid vessel. The conduit structure may include a narrowed section to which the shunt structure is secured and in fluid connection therewith.

VASCULAR ARTERIOVENOUS GRAFT

A cannulation chamber is provided for use with an arteriovenous graft including a flexible conduit. The cannulation chamber comprises an elongated body defining an annular passageway having a longitudinal axis extending between a first end and a second end. The body receives and surrounds the conduit in the passageway. The body comprises a self-sealing material and a cannulation port that exposes the self-sealing material. A flexible resilient elongated back plate is embedded in the body of the cannulation chamber such that the back plate extends generally parallel with and may partially surround the passageway. The back plate is formed of a substantially rigid material such that when a needle is inserted through the cannulation port and the self-sealing material, the needle is inhibited or prevented from extending through the back plate.

Sutureless Repair of Soft Tissue

The present invention relates to a sutureless method of repairing soft tissue defects in soft tissue including ligaments such as anterior cruciate ligaments (ACLs). In particular, the present invention relates a sutureless method of repairing soft tissue defect comprising: (i) providing a collagen-containing patch adapted to enclose at least a portion of said soft tissue defect; (ii) contacting said soft tissue defect and/or collagen-containing patch with a sensitizer; (Hi) enclosing said soft tissue defect in said collagen-containing patch to produce a bioactive chamber; and (iv) adhering said collagen-containing patch to said soft tissue defect without sutures.

Device and method for controlling in-vivo pressure

A differential pressure regulating device is provided for controlling in-vivo pressure in a body, and in particularly in a heart. The device may include a shunt being positioned between two or more lumens in a body, to enable fluids to flow between the lumens, and an adjustable flow regulation mechanism being configured to selectively cover an opening of the shunt, to regulate the flow of fluid through the shunt in relation to a pressure difference between the body lumens. In some embodiments a control mechanism coupled to the adjustable flow regulation mechanism may be provided, to remotely activate the adjustable flow regulation mechanism.

Three Dimensional Printing of Bio-Ink Compositions

3D printing of biopolymer-based inks provides for manufacturing a broad range of products with desirable properties. A print nozzle may be charged to form a cone-shaped ink droplet to result in increased resolution, more reliable contact with irregular surfaces, and a mechanism to control contacting the ink to the print surface.

A vascular access device, for implantation at least partially below the skin of a patient to provide an arteriovenous fistula, includes a graft portion coupled to a catheter portion. The graft portion is sutured to an opening in an artery while the catheter portion is inserted into a vein so that its end lies within the vein downstream from the point of entry into the vein. The device may be comprised of ePTFE with an outer polyurethane coating or the graft portion may comprise ePTFE with an outer polyurethane coating and the catheter portion may comprise polyurethane. There may also be an inner polyurethane coating. Alternatively, the device may be comprised entirely of polyurethane.

Splittable sheath

A sheath for retaining a prosthesis for use in repair of a damaged portion of a body vessel during an open surgical procedure. The prosthesis is of a type having a constricted condition for delivery to the damaged vessel portion and an expanded condition upon deployment from the sheath. The sheath includes a generally cylindrical body having a distal end portion, a proximal end portion, a passageway extending therethrough, and an elongated tab member at the proximal end portion. The tab member is positionable along the generally cylindrical body for initiating the splitting of the generally cylindrical body from the distal end portion of the sheath body toward the proximal end portion.

Tubular graft

A tubular graft comprising an internal helical formation which imparts helical flow on fluid passing through the tubular graft. One end of the tubular graft is tapered from an inner base to an outer tip.
