Particularly applicable for use in clampless types of (end-to-side) surgical vascular anastomotic procedures, for performing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Tissue Clip
A tissue clip for adjoining tissues including a body portion, a biasing mechanism interconnecting the body portion to a tissue grasping mechanism, the grasping mechanism having a first condition wherein the grasping mechanism is extending against and away from the body portion and a second condition wherein the grasping mechanism is biased against the body portion. A tissue clip and deployer combination. A method of interconnecting tissue by deploying the tissue clip, puncturing tissue to be interconnected with the tissue clip, and interconnecting the tissue. A method of treating an aneurism by deploying the tissue clip at an aneurism site, closing off the aneurism site with the tissue clip, and treating the aneurism. A method of imaging a surgical procedure with ultrasound by modifying a surface of a metal surgical instrument, and imaging the metal surgical instrument with ultrasound during a surgical procedure.
Device and method for connecting tubular structures
A device and method for performing anastomosis is described. In one embodiment according to the present invention, the device comprises a ring that has a plurality of pins extending from various locations on the ring. During a procedure, the pins are passed through portions of tissue and the ring is everted or radially flipped inside out to connect the tissues together.
DEVICE FOR COMMUNICABLY COUPLING A FIRST AND A SECOND ORGAN BODY
The present disclosure relates to a device for assisting in communicably coupling a first organ body with a second organ body by employing a plurality of arc-shaped tissue connector devices comprising a tissue connector body with a proximal and distal end, and a method for manufacturing such a device. The device comprises a curved frame having a principle axis and configured to embrace, at least partially, the first organ body, the curved frame configured to receive a plurality of tissue connector devices which extend from a proximal end thereof coupled to the curved frame and terminate in a free distal end. The disclosure further relates to a tissue connector device, a holder for tissue connector devices and a tissue-collar manipulating device, and a method of coupling a first and a second organ body using such device.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CANNULATION OF VASCULAR ACCESS GRAFT
An apparatus for guiding cannulation with a dialysis needle of an arteriovenous dialysis access graft subcutaneously implanted in a body of a subject. The guiding apparatus comprises an elongated body member comprising a base portion terminating in longitudinal edges, a distance between the longitudinal edges of the base portion being substantially equal to a lateral dimension of the aces graft, and an elongated tubular sleeve defining an pocket having a longitudinal dimension and a lateral dimension configured to receive the body member. The body member is adapted to be received in the pocket of the sleeve for securing adjacent the subcutaneous access graft such that the inner surface of the base portion is aligned with a cannulation point of the graft for guiding location of a needle insertion.
ANASTOMOTIC COUPLER
An anastomotic coupler is provided. A ring can include a plurality of receiving portions. A fixation device includes a cartridge. The cartridge includes a plurality of fasteners. The ring is aligned with the cartridge such that the receiving portions are aligned with the fasteners. Upon actuation of the fixation device, the fasteners puncture the tubular structure and are received by the receiving portions such that the tubular structure is coupled with the ring.
VASCULAR ANASTOMOTIC MEMBER COMPRISING SHAPE-MEMORY POLYMER
The present invention relates to an artificial blood vessel comprising a shape-memory polymer, and a vascular anastomotic member formed of a shape-memory polymer. An artificial blood vessel according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a shape-memory polymer including photo-crosslinkable functional groups, the artificial blood vessel thus provided having a fusion point suitable for in vivo transplantation. Also, provided is a vascular anastomotic member which comprises a shape-memory polymer including photo-crosslinkable functional groups, and thus has a fusion point suitable for in vivo transplantation.
APPARATUSES FOR ANASTOMOSIS OF TUBULAR VESSELS AND RELATED METHODS
An apparatus for anastomosis of tubular structures includes two annular bodies. Each annular body has a first side, a second side, a central axis extending between the first and second sides, an inner wall defining a passageway that is open to the first and second sides for passing a tubular structure therethrough, and a plurality of spikes each extending from a base connected to the second side of the annular body to a pointed free end configured to pierce the tubular structure. The spikes are angled relative to the central axis such that for each of the spikes, the free end is positioned farther from the central axis in a radial direction than the base is to the central axis.
Systems and methods for percutaneous access and formation of arteriovenous fistulas
A catheter system includes a proximal base having a distal diagonal end surface and a distal tip connected to the proximal base and movable relative to the proximal base, wherein the distal tip has a proximal diagonal end surface. The distal diagonal end surface and the proximal diagonal end surface contact opposing sides of a tissue portion to create the fistula. A peripheral edge defines the proximal distal end surface. A proximal point is disposed on the peripheral edge. The proximal point comprises a shortened angle and a fully radiused edge relative to a remaining portion of the peripheral edge and a relief recess is disposed on a distal end of the proximal base, both for the purpose of minimizing tissue snagging.
