SURFACE-MODIFIED AND METAL-DOPED POROUS SILICA
An object of the present invention is to provide a metal-doped porous silica that can be blended into an article, for example, a cosmetic product such as a perm treatment agent, and kept stably dispersed therein. The metal-doped porous silica of the present invention as a means for resolution is surface-modified with a vinylpyrrolidone unit-containing polymer. As specific examples of vinylpyrrolidone unit-containing polymers, a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and the like can be mentioned.
High temperature, hydrophobic, flexible aerogel composite and method of making same
Aerogels, aerogel composites and methods of making the same are discussed. One example method can include the act of creating a Boehmite colloid and adding a hydrolyzed silicon precursor to form a sol. A reinforcement can be infused with the sol, gelled to form a gel, then dried to form an aerogel composite. Such a method can also include the acts of performing one or more solvent exchanges and subjecting the gel composite to subcritical drying. Additionally, such a method can include the act of heat treating the aerogel composite. The aerogel composite can be used in high temperature, flexible seals capable of withstanding temperatures, pressures, and compression levels associated with aerodynamic heating generated during flight and in aerospace applications. The aerogel composite also can be used in thermal protection systems designed for fire protection for structures or in personnel fire protective equipment.

METHOD FOR PURIFYING WASTE SOLVENT
Provided is a method for purifying a waste solvent by removing carbon dioxide contained in a waste solvent derived from supercritical waste liquid generated after supercritical drying by a decompression process, and removing ammonia by a multi-stage distillation process to obtain a solvent of high purity, which can be reused in producing silica aerogel or a silica aerogel blanket.
Method for producing silica aerogel and silica aerogel produced thereby
The present invention relates to a method for producing a silica aerogel and a silica aerogel produced thereby. More specifically, a first water glass solution is used to form a first silica wet gel, and then a second water glass solution is additionally added to form a second silica wet gel organically bonded to the first silica wet gel which serves as a basic skeleton, so that a silica aerogel with enhanced physical properties is formed to increase the resistance to shrinkage in ambient drying. Thus, a low-density silica aerogel may be formed, and the concentrations of the first and second water glass solutions may be adjusted to control the physical properties of the silica aerogel.
