PARTIAL OXIDATION PROCESS OF HYDROCARBONS
A partial oxidation process of hydrocarbons is provided, including bringing an inlet gas into contact with a catalyst, the inlet gas including a hydrocarbon raw material gas and a hydrogen chloride gas, wherein the catalyst includes a catalyst material including palladium (Pd), which catalyst material is supported on a carrier including cerium oxide (CeO.sub.2) and an amount of catalyst material supported on the carrier is 2 wt % to 10 wt % based on a total weight of the catalyst.
Noble metal catalysts and processes for reforming of methane and other hydrocarbons
Processes for converting methane and/or other hydrocarbons to synthesis gas (i.e., a gaseous mixture comprising H.sub.2 and CO) are disclosed, in which at least a portion of the hydrocarbon(s) is reacted with CO.sub.2. At least a second portion of the methane may be reacted with H.sub.2O (steam), thereby improving overall thermodynamics of the process, in terms of reducing endothermicity (H) and the required energy input, compared to pure dry reforming in which no H.sub.2O is present. Catalysts for such processes advantageously possess high activity and thereby can achieve significant levels of methane conversion at temperatures below those used conventionally under comparable conditions. These catalysts also exhibit high sulfur tolerance, in addition to reduced rates of carbon (coke) formation, even in the processing (reforming) of heavier (e.g., naphtha boiling-range or jet fuel boiling-range) hydrocarbons. The robustness of the catalyst translates to high operating stability. A representative catalyst comprises 1 wt-% Pt and 1 wt-% Rh as noble metals, on a cerium oxide support.
Syngas generation for gas-to-liquid fuel conversion
A syngas generator is disclosed as an exothermic gas generator that can accommodate high combustion temperatures of a natural gas/oxygen flame. The generator consists of four sections: a heavily insulated combustion chamber, a catalyst chamber, a spray chamber, and a heat exchanger. These four sections may be arranged in series and tightly bolted together to form a gas-tight system. Natural gas, oxygen and steam are supplied to a burner at the inlet end of the combustion chamber. This mixture is ignited and the resulting hot process gas is then fed into a catalyst bed where it reacts with the steam and is converted to carbon monoxide and hydrogen (syngas). The syngas is fed to a Fischer-Tropsch unit to create liquid fuel.
STEAM REFORMING CATALYST AND FUEL CELL SYSTEM USING THE SAME
A steam reforming catalyst that promotes production of hydrogen from a gas containing a hydrocarbon in the presence of steam includes a carrier and two or more catalyst metals supported on the carrier and including a first metal and a second metal. The first metal includes Ni, the second metal includes at least one of Co and Ru, and the carrier is represented by LaNbO.sub.4 or La.sub.1-xSr.sub.xNbO.sub.4 where x is in a range of 0<x0.12.
METAL OXIDE NANOWIRES IN SUPPORTED NANOPARTICLE CATALYSIS
The present disclosure is concerned with metal oxide nanowires, and more specifically, to crystalline ruthenium oxide (RuO.sub.2) nanowires, sol-gel synthetic methods for preparing the nanowires, and methods of using the nanowires in metal catalyzed oxidation of small organic molecules.
Reforming device and reforming system
A reforming device 1 for producing a reformed gas from a methane-containing gas containing methane and carbon dioxide includes a reforming reaction tube 10 containing a catalyst layer 12 filled with a reforming catalyst 12a for reforming the methane-containing gas, and a multilayer pipe 103 for spraying a cooling fluid to an outer peripheral surface of the reforming reaction tube 10 at a position corresponding to a gas inlet of the catalyst layer 12 in a length direction of the catalyst layer 12.
Fuel Cell Device and Method for Operating Fuel Cell Device
A fuel cell single unit including: a fuel cell element in which an anode layer and a cathode layer are formed so as to sandwich an electrolyte layer; a reducing gas supply path for supplying a gas containing hydrogen to the anode layer; an oxidizing gas supply path for supplying a gas containing oxygen to the cathode layer; and an internal reforming catalyst layer, which has a reforming catalyst for steam-reforming a fuel gas, in at least a part of the reducing gas supply path is provided. An external reformer, which has a reforming catalyst for steam-reforming the fuel gas, is provided upstream of the reducing gas supply path, and the fuel gas partially reformed by the external reformer is supplied to the reducing gas supply path.
Size-reversing materials for reforming in cyclic flow reactors
Systems and methods are provided for using size-reversing materials in vessels where direct heating is used to at least partially provide heat for reforming reactions under cyclic reforming conditions. An example of a size-reversing material is the combination of NiO and Al.sub.2O.sub.3. It has been discovered that size-reversing materials can undergo a phase transition that can assist with re-dispersion of metal at elevated temperatures. This can assist with maintaining catalytic activity for reforming over longer time periods in the presence of cyclic reforming conditions.
