The present disclosure provides devices and methods of using same for cleansing a solution (e.g., a salt or used dialysis solution) of urea via electrooxidation, and more specifically to cleansing a renal therapy solution/dialysis solution of urea via electrooxidation so that the renal therapy solution/dialysis solution can be used or reused for treatment of a patient. In an embodiment, a device for the removal of urea from a fluid having urea to produce a cleansed fluid includes a urea decomposition unit and an electrodialysis unit.
Hospital ozone faucet
A hospital faucet assembly is provided that includes an outlet adapted to direct a flow water stream into a sink. An ozone chamber is provided having a water inlet and a water outlet. A flow control valve is connected to the water inlet, and the water outlet is connected to the faucet armature. A sensor is provided which is adapted to control the flow control valve. An ozone generator is located within the chamber, and when a user activates the sensor, the valve opens allowing more water to enter the chamber and then travel out through the water outlet of the ozone chamber to the faucet armature which dispenses the water flow into the sink. A controller is provided and is connected to the control valve and the sensor. The controller is configured to run an automatic cycle on an occasional basis to flush the sink with ozone-rich water in order flush and/or disinfect water located in a trap of the sink drain, or provide other disinfecting functions.
System and method for generation of point of use reactive oxygen species
Systems and methods for generating reactive oxygen species formulations useful in various oxidation applications. Exemplary formulations include singlet oxygen or superoxide and can also contain hydroxyl radicals or hydroperoxy radicals, among others. Formulations can contain other reactive species, including other radicals. Exemplary formulations containing peracids are activated to generate singlet oxygen. Exemplary formulations include those containing a mixture of superoxide and hydrogen peroxide. Exemplary formulations include those in which one or more components of the formulation are generated electrochemically. Formulations of the invention containing reactive oxygen species can be further activated to generate reactive oxygen species using activation chosen from a Fenton or Fenton-like catalyst, ultrasound, ultraviolet radiation or thermal activation. Exemplary applications of the formulations of the invention among others include: cleaning in place applications, water treatment, soil decontamination and flushing of well casings and water distribution pipes.
APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING OXYGEN WATER OR HYDROGEN WATER
The present invention relates to an apparatus for manufacturing oxygen water or hydrogen water. The apparatus for manufacturing oxygen water or hydrogen water is configured such that oxygen or hydrogen generated from a device for generating oxygen and hydrogen by electrolyzing water is supplied to water using a fluid pump for manufacture of oxygen water or hydrogen water. The apparatus is configured to easily, quickly, and effectively manufacture oxygen water or hydrogen water in a plastic water bottle by dissolving high purity oxygen or hydrogen in source water in the bottle directly. Accordingly, by drinking oxygen water or hydrogen water manufactured thereby, fresh oxygen is supplied to the body, and hydrogen is also supplied to the body and removes harmful reactive oxygen species or reactive carbon species, thereby enabling a healthy life.
METHOD OF CLEANING USED DIALYSIS FLUID USING ELECTRODIALYSIS AND UREA OXIDATION
A method of cleaning used dialysis fluid having urea to produce a cleaned dialysis fluid, the method including passing the used dialysis fluid having urea through a combination electrodialysis and urea oxidation cell, the cell including (i) a first set of electrodes for separation of the used dialysis fluid having urea into an acid stream and a basic stream, wherein the first set of electrodes includes an anode and a cathode; (ii) one or more second set of electrodes positioned to contact the basic stream with an electrocatalytic surface for decomposition of urea via electrooxidation, wherein the one or more second set of electrodes includes an anode and a cathode; and (iii) at least one power source to provide the first and second sets of electrodes with an electrical charge to activate the electrocatalytic surface.
Diamond electrode and method of manufacturing the same
Disclosed are a method of manufacturing a diamond electrode by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process, and a diamond electrode manufactured by the method. The method of manufacturing the diamond electrode includes: introducing a carbon source gas to form niobium carbide (NbC) on a niobium substrate, immediately before depositing an electrically conductive diamond layer on the substrate by a hot-filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) process; and depositing electrically conductive diamond layers on the substrate by two or more separate processes. Accordingly, a pinhole present during deposition of the electrically conductive diamond layer is filled such that the contact between an electrolyte and the substrate in an electrolytic environment will be minimized so as to retard the corrosion of the substrate, thereby providing a diamond electrode having a long life span.
Device and method for treating a liquid containing an organic pollutant
A device for treating a liquid including an organic pollutant, the device including: a device for injecting, into the liquid, microbubbles of an containing fluid containing an oxygenated constituent, the oxygenated constituent being capable of reacting with the ferrous cations Fe.sup.2+ so as to generate hydroxyl radicals OH and hydrogen peroxide H.sub.2O.sub.2; a cavitation generator capable of generating bubbles in the liquid by cavitation; a bubble implosion chamber; a generator of ferrous cations Fe.sup.2+, the cavitation bubble implosion chamber being placed in a region in which the liquid contains the ferrous cations.
ELECTRO-ANALYTICAL SYSTEM FOR MONITORING TOTAL ORGANIC CARBON IN A WATER SOURCE
An automated total organic carbon analyzer is described. Embodiments of the system include two features, namely the development of a selective oxidation reactor to oxidize organic contaminants to their corresponding organic acids, and the measurement of the organic acids individually by chain length using an electroanalytical detector. Combining this electroanalytical approach with sequential detection capabilities (such as spectrophotometry) can expand the instrument capabilities by providing organic contaminant speciation. The described reactor performs selective oxidation of organic carbon to organic acids followed by complexation with a proprietary ligand, then selective detection using electroanalytical accumulation and desorption of organic acids performed at an electrode surface.
