Use of phosphotartaric acid and the salts thereof for the treatment of water in water-conducting systems
The present invention relates to the use of phospho-tartaric acid and/or the salts thereof for the treatment of water in water-conducting systems.
NITROGEN SUBSTITUTED AROMATIC TRIAZOLES AS CORROSION CONTROL AGENTS
Compositions and methods for inhibiting corrosion of metallic surfaces in contact with an aqueous medium such as copper, copper alloy, and steel surfaces of an open recirculating cooling water system. In certain embodiments, an aromatic triazole having an anionic substituent bonded to a nitrogen atom of the triazole (ANST) is used as the corrosion inhibitor. In other embodiments, the corrosion inhibitor is a reaction product of an aromatic triazole and an aldehyde (ATA).

The present invention discloses a novel aqueous composition for use in removing barium sulfate scale from a surface contaminated with such, said composition comprising: a chelating agent and a counterion component selected from the group consisting of: Li.sub.5DTPA; Na.sub.5DTPA; K.sub.5DTPA; Cs.sub.5DTPA; Na.sub.4EDTA; K.sub.4EDTA; TEAH.sub.4DTPA; and TBAH.sub.5DTPA; and a scale removal enhancer. There is also disclosed methods to use such compositions.
Novel Modified Acid Compositions as Alternatives to Conventional Acids in the Oil and Gas Industry
An aqueous modified acid composition for industrial activities, said composition comprising: an alkanolamine and strong acid in a molar ratio of not less than 1:15, preferably not less than 1:10; it can also further comprise a metal iodide or iodate. Said composition demonstrates advantages over known conventional acids and modified acids.
Inhibiting fouling tendency in high coal ash-containing water systems
Dispersions of coal ash in water can be inhibited or prevented from scaling and simultaneously be inhibited or prevented from fouling by introducing thereto an additive blend that includes an anionic water-soluble polymer and a second polymer different from the anionic water-soluble polymer, where the second polymer is selected from the group consisting of copolymers and terpolymers having a plurality of hydrophobic groups.
Degradation-resistant scale inhibitors
Methods for reducing aluminosilicate containing scale in an alumina recovery process involving treating an alumina recovery process equipment surface with a degradation-resistant scale inhibiting composition having high ionic strength prior to exposure to an alumina recovery process stream.
Corrosion inhibitors
Disclosed are novel compounds and methods useful in applications relating to industrial water systems. The compounds of the present invention are nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds comprising a benzotriazole covalently bonded to a benzimidazole moiety, and provide enhanced protection against corrosion of metals in aqueous systems. The compounds of the present invention are generally resistant to halogen attack and provide good corrosion resistance in the presence of oxidizing halogen-based biocides.
IRON SULFIDE SCALE CONTROL AGENT FOR GEOTHERMAL WELLS
The disclosure relates to improved methods for inhibiting the formation and deposition of sulfide and silica scale in aqueous systems. In particular, the methods include injecting a composition into an aqueous system or wellbore. The composition includes a sulfide scale inhibitor and a silica scale inhibitor. The sulfide scale inhibitor may be a copolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and an anionic monomer. The silica scale inhibitor may be a copolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and an alkoxylated monomer.
Galvanized metal corrosion inhibitor compositions and methods of use
A method of preventing formation of rust on a metal surface is provided. The method may include applying a polyamine onto the metal surface and applying a compound of formula (I) or salt thereof onto the metal surface. The compositions and methods disclosed herein may be used to inhibit corrosion of a metal surface in contact with an aqueous system. ##STR00001##
System and Method for Automated Control, Feed, Delivery Verification, and Inventory Management of Corrosion and Scale Treatment Products for Water Systems
A system and method of controlling the treatment of water systems comprises multiple feeders for separately feeding treatment products, in the form of concentrated, non-hazardous, liquids with a single active ingredient, to a water system to treat various issues, such as corrosion and biofilms. A sensor verifies delivery of the treatment product to the water system. A controller controls activation of each feeder to control a feed rate according to programmed functions. The controller receives signals from sensors, which can be used as inputs in calculating feed rates or feeder activation times according to the programed functions and can alter treatment product feed rates based on real time data regarding water system chemistry or flow rates. The controller can send and receive data, signals, alerts, alarms or changes in programming to or from remote users, remote computers, or a water system controller.
