METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REATTACHING THE LABRUM TO THE ACETABULUM, INCLUDING THE PROVISION AND USE OF A NOVEL SUTURE ANCHOR SYSTEM
Apparatus for securing an object to bone, the apparatus comprising: an anchor assembly comprising an anchor and an actuation element extending from the anchor, wherein applying a force to the actuation element when the anchor is disposed in a hole formed in a bone secures the anchor to the bone; and an inserter for deploying the anchor assembly in a hole formed in a bone, the inserter comprising: a shaft for releasably engaging the anchor; and a force delivery mechanism mounted to the shaft and connected to the actuation element, the force delivery mechanism being constructed so as to receive an input force from an external source and to selectively apply an output force to the actuation element, with the force delivery mechanism being constructed so that the magnitude of the output force is limited regardless of the magnitude of the input force.
Robotic end effector with adjustable inner diameter
An end effector for a surgical robotic system, comprising a main body, one or members, and an adjustment mechanism. The main body has an interior sidewall and an opening extending through the main body. The one or more members are located within the main body and extend into and retract from the opening to vary a diameter of the opening through which a tool may be inserted. The adjustment mechanism coupled to the one or more members for varying the diameter of the opening, and comprises a collar coupled to the one or more members such that rotation of the collar in a first direction causes the one or more members to move away from the interior sidewall to reduce the diameter of the opening, and rotation in a second direction causes the one or more members to move towards the interior sidewall to increase the diameter of the opening.
Hip and knee joint stem explant system and methods of using the same
Systems, instruments, tools and methods for facilitating the removal of a knee or hip implants and other bone implants.
Orbital trocar hole carving device with detachable handle and associated methods
The present disclosure provides methods for forming or enlarging holes in objects. Objects may include bone tissue and methods for fixing matched medical plates to bodies. The movable trocar with toroidal interface is adjustable relative to the surface. The present disclosure also provides for products produced by the methods of the present disclosure and for apparatuses used to perform the methods of the present disclosure.
METHOD OF PLACING AN IMPLANT BETWEEN BONE PORTIONS
Devices and methods for placing an implant between two bone portions are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method comprises disposing a portion of a flexible member through a first bone portion, through an aperture in a trial implant, and through a second bone portion. The trial implant can be withdrawn to enable an implant to be coupled to the flexible member. The method includes applying tension to the flexible member to urge the implant into the space between two bone portions. In some embodiments, the two bone portions are facets.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR BONE FIXATION
A system for providing fixation of first and second bones includes a drill guide that receives a drill bit to create first and second holes in the first and second bones, respectively. Guide pins can be driven into the first and second holes. The guide pins are received by a surgical saw to guide the surgical saw toward a joint between the first and second bones, thereby creating a third hole in each of the bones across the joint. The guide pins are then removed, and an implant can be inserted into the bones, such that a first leg of the implant is disposed in the first hole, a second leg of the implant is disposed in the second hole, and a keel of the implant is disposed in the third hole.
Osteotome with a distal portion for simultaneous advancement and articulation
Medical devices for creating or expanding a cavity within bone of a patient are disclosed. In some circumstances, a medical device, such as an osteotome is designed to facilitate simultaneous advancement and articulation of a distal portion of the osteotome. Simultaneous advancement and articulation of the distal portion may reduce one or more forces on the distal portion of the osteotome relative to other methods in which advancement and articulation are separated in time, thereby decreasing the risk of breakage or other damage to the osteotome.
KNOTLESS SUTURE ANCHORS
Methods and systems are provided for securing tissue to bone. A suture anchor system can include a cannulated suture anchor having at least one driven feature disposed in a lumen and a bone-engaging feature disposed on an external surface. A cannulated inserter member can have an elongate member with a lumen and can be disposed within the lumen of the anchor. The elongate member can have a drive feature that can engage the driven feature. The inner tube can be disposed within the lumen of the inserter member. The inner tube can have a lumen and a length greater than the anchor such that the inner tube extends distally beyond the anchor. A distal swivel member can have a lumen and a distal end having a suture separating feature. The distal swivel member can be mounted adjacent to the anchor and can be rotatable relative to the anchor.
Fixed Angle Instrument With Rounded Linkages
A fixed angle instrument includes an elongate guide extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the guide having a proximal portion extending along a longitudinal axis and a distal portion extending transverse to the longitudinal axis. The instrument further includes a shaft disposed within the guide extending through the proximal portion of the guide along the longitudinal axis. The instrument further includes an intermediate element coupled to the shaft, the intermediate element having at least one bulbous link. The instrument further includes a distal element coupled to a distal end of the intermediate element.
COMBINATION DEPTHSINK INSTRUMENT
In various embodiments, a surgical instrument, systems including the surgical instrument, and methods of use of the surgical instrument are disclosed. The surgical instrument includes a handle body extending from a proximal end to a distal end substantially along a longitudinal axis. The handle body defines a first channel sized and configured to receive a guide element therein. A plurality of indicators are formed on the handle body. Each of the plurality of indicators correspond to a size of one of a plurality of fixation elements sized and configured for insertion into a bone. A countersink element is coupled to a distal end of the body. The countersink element defines a second channel sized and configured to receive the guide element therethrough that is circumferentially located with and coupled to the first channel. The countersink element includes a head sized and configured to form a countersink in the bone.
