ROTARY MILL
A rotary mill is disclosed comprising a body portion (4) having a milling surface (10) and a central bore (20) extending along an axis of rotation (18) of the body portion (4); and a guide portion (6) having a guide body (22) and a guide peg (24) extending from the guide body (22), the guide peg (24) operable to be received in the central bore (20) of the body portion (4), the guide body (22) having at least one alignment feature (28, 30) which is the same as that of a prosthesis component. A method of implanting a unicondylar femoral component is also disclosed, the method comprising, a) reaming the femoral condylar surface to accept the unicondylar femoral component; b) drilling peg holes for affixing the unicondylar femoral component; c) affixing a guide portion of a rotary mill onto the prepared condylar surface using the drilled peg holes; d) reaming a portion of bone anterior to the affixed guide portion; e) removing the guide portion from the bone; and f) affixing a unicondylar femoral component to the prepared condylar surface.
PROBE UNIT, TREATMENT INSTRUMENT, AND TREATMENT SYSTEM
A probe unit includes, a probe configured to treat a bone by ultrasonic vibration, a hollow sheath which surrounds the probe and which has a first portion at a small distance from a central axis, and a second portion at a greater distance from the central axis than the first portion, and a knob configured to rotate the sheath relative to the probe between a first position for insertion between the bone and a living tissue facing the bone so that the first portion is located between the bone and the living tissue and a second position for insertion between the bone and the living tissue so that the second portion is located between the bone and the living tissue.
SET OF SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR AN ARTIFICIAL HIP JOINT IMPLANT
A set of surgical instruments for an artificial hip joint implant and, more specifically, a set of improved surgical instruments, can be used in direct anterior approach hip replacement surgery and are capable of minimizing damage, such as muscle damage, which may arise during surgery, by resolving problems that existing surgical instruments possess.
DUAL MOBILITY ACETABULAR CUP ASSEMBLY FOR ARTIFICIAL HIP JOINT
An implant for an artificial hip joint and, more specifically, a dual mobility acetabular cup assembly for an artificial hip joint is configured to have improved locking mechanism between a liner and a shell and improved resistance to micromotion and to guide the liner into the shell with proper orientation by providing stable liner-shell fastening structure to the acetabular cup assembly.
COMBINATION DRILL GUIDE AND DEPTH GAUGE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR IMPLANTING AN ACETABULAR CUP COMPONENT AND ASSOCIATED SURGICAL METHOD
A combination drill guide and depth gauge surgical instrument for use during a surgical procedure to implant an acetabular cup component into a surgically-prepared acetabulum of a patient's hip includes an elongated shaft having a drill guide on an end thereof. The instrument also includes a retractable depth probe that may be used to gauge the depth of the holes drilled by use of the drill guide. A method of using such an instrument is also disclosed.
SHAPING INSTRUMENT
A shaping instrument for the preparation of a surface of a work body utilizes regional or a combination of local and regional movement provided by a rotational drive and one or more transfer mechanism. The shaping instrument includes a contoured body having engagement elements on an active surface to work a passive surface of a work body, and a transfer mechanism connectable to a rotatable drive and engageable with the contoured body. The transfer mechanism converts the rotational movement of the rotatable drive to at least one small local movements of one or more parts of the contoured body or a circumferential regional movement of the same parts around a different (longitudinal) axis. The shaping instrument is able to work the passive surface of the work body by one or more of these two movements.
Decompression system and methods of use
A decompression surgery system includes an instrument shuttle configured to engage a first side of a target anatomical location, the instrument shuttle including a track. The system further includes a working channel configured to couple to and advance along the track of the instrument shuttle, the working channel having a distal end configured to engage a second side of the target anatomical location so that the target anatomical location is positioned between a portion of the instrument shuttle and the distal end of the working channel. The working channel is configured to receive one or more instruments therethrough.
SYSTEM, APPARATUS, AND METHOD FOR GRAFTING TISSUE
Systems, apparatus, and methods may be adapted for grafting tissue at a tissue site that may include an elongate housing and a plurality of elongate cutting members. The plurality of elongate cutting members may define a cutting surface at a distal end of the elongate housing. The cutting surface may be adapted to contract from a first diameter to a second diameter that is less than the first diameter. The contraction of the cutting surface from the first diameter to the second diameter may define a tapered profile between the first diameter and the second diameter suitable for obtaining a tapered graft.
SURGICAL TOOL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING A CONSOLE, PLURAL SURGICAL TOOLS AND A FOOTSWITCH, WHEREIN THE CONSOLE IS ABLE TO CUSTOM MAP THE FOOTSWITCH TO EACH SURGICAL TOOL
A powered surgical tool system capable of providing energization signals to plural powered surgical handpieces. The system includes a console to which at least one footswitch is attached. The footswitch can be mapped to control any one of the handpieces connected to the console. The console includes a display on which representations of the footswitch and handpieces connected to the console are presented. The representations of the handpieces are in different colors. When the footswitch is mapped to a specific handpiece, the representation of the footswitch is presented in the same color as the representation of the handpiece to which the footswitch is mapped. When plural footswitches are attached to the console, the representation of each footswitch is presented in a color corresponding to the color of the representation of the handpiece to which the footswitch is mapped.
