MEDICAL CUTTING DEVICES HAVING A BLADE WORKING BODY THAT DEFINES AN OPENING FOR EMITTING COOLANT THEREFROM AND RELATED METHODS
Medical cutting devices having a working blade body that defines an opening for emitting coolant therefrom and related methods are disclosed. According to an aspect, a cutting device a static casing. The cutting device also includes a blade working body attached to the static casing and including a first end and a second end. The first end is configured to operatively connect to a source of movement. The second end includes a cutting component. The blade working body defines an interior channel that extends between the first end and the second end, and defines one or more openings at the second end for emitting coolant, such as a gas, through the interior channel.
MEDICAL CUTTING DEVICES HAVING A WORKING BLADE BODY WITH STATIC COMPONENTS AND RELATED METHODS OF USE
Medical cutting device having a working blade body with static components and related methods of use are disclosed. According to an aspect, a cutting device includes a working blade body having a top surface and a bottom surface. The working blade body defines a plurality of apertures extending between the top surface and the bottom surface. Further, the cutting device includes a plurality of static components each having a top portion and a bottom portion. Each static component is associated with one of the apertures and has a middle portion that is between the top portion and the bottom portion and positioned within the associated aperture. The top portion and the bottom portion extend past the top surface and the bottom surface, respectively, of the working blade body.
Drilling devices, systems, and methods
Devices, systems, and methods for drilling an anatomical element are provided. A drill bit may comprise a coaxial hollow shaft in communication with a plurality of apertures disposed on a surface of the drill bit. A fluid inlet may be in fluid communication with the coaxial hollow shaft via a selectively openable valve. The fluid inlet may be configured to receive pressurized fluid. When the valve is opened, the pressurized fluid may be released into the coaxial hollow shaft, and when at least one of the plurality of apertures is not blocked, the pressurized fluid may be released through the at least one aperture of the plurality of apertures.
SURGICAL VISUALIZATION SYSTEMS
A surgical device includes a plurality of cameras integrated therein. The view of each of the plurality of cameras can be integrated together. A surgical tool that includes an integrated camera may be used in conjunction with the surgical device. The image produced by the camera integrated with the surgical tool may be associated with the images generated by the plurality of cameras integrated in the surgical device. The position and orientation of the cameras and/or the surgical tool can be tracked, and the surgical tool can be rendered as at least partially transparent. A surgical device may be powered by a hydraulic system, thereby reducing electromagnetic interference with tracking devices.
Tissue removal device
A device for cutting tissue including (a) an elongated shaft body defining a drive lumen, (b) a cutting head extending from a distal end of the elongated shaft body and being rotatable via a drive shaft disposed within the drive lumen, and (c) a retainer for keeping the cutting head attached to the shaft body if the cutting head becomes detached from the drive shaft or if the drive shaft breaks. A flexible drive shaft including (i) a core configured for resisting helixing, and (ii) at least one outer layer configured for transferring torque. A method of producing a flexible drive shaft including providing a core configured for resisting helixing, and wrapping the core with at least one outer layer of wires configured for maintaining high torsional rigidity. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
Robotically controlled water jet cutting
A cutting system includes a material removal tool having a fluid nozzle with an adjustable diameter, a workpiece including a target shape for removal, and a controller operable to adjust the diameter of the nozzle to vary fluid flow and control an amount of material removed by the material removal tool. The controller is adapted to adjust the nozzle to vary the fluid flow based on a position of the nozzle and workpiece data preoperatively obtained from the workpiece via a continuous feedback loop. A method of cutting a bone is also provided.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY INFLOW CANNULA DEVICE
Irrigation systems and methods are disclosed. An irrigation system includes a body defining a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal portion defines a cavity sized and configured to receive a working end of a hand-piece therein. An inlet tube extends through a portion of the body and is configured to receive a fluid flow therethrough. An outlet tube assembly is coupled to the distal portion of the body and extends distally beyond a distal edge of the body. The outlet tube assembly includes an inner tube and an outer tube. The inner tube and the outer tube define a fluid path therebetween. The inlet tube is in fluid communication with the outlet tube assembly such that the fluid flow received through the inlet tube flows through the fluid path of the outlet tube assembly and exits the outlet tube assembly at a distal end.
