A surgical instrument includes a first member defining an axis and having a scraping surface configured to scrape tissue. A second member includes a cutting surface that is rotatable relative to the first member. The second member has a maximum length defined by opposite end surfaces of the second member. The end surfaces are each disposed within the first member. A third member includes an outer surface defining at least a portion of a passageway configured for disposal of the scraped tissue. The third member is fixed with the first member. The cutting surface is rotatable relative to the third member to transfer the scraped tissue along the axis. Systems and methods are disclosed.

Hip Broach with Embedded Sensor and a Feedback Broach System

Within examples, a surgical device with an embedded sensor system for performing hip replacements is described. This device mitigates fracturing of the mid metaphyseal/diaphyseal region of the femur, and ensures adequate press-fit of the component into the bone. The device relays information regarding forces experienced by the patient's bone to a separate data acquisition device and displays it on an interface. This information is used by the surgeon to determine the force present inside of the patient's bone during broaching, and can then be used to provide better care, and mitigate fractures due to overloading in the bone.

Reciprocating rasps for use in an orthopaedic surgical procedure

Reciprocating rasps for the surgical preparation of the bone prior to the implantation of a glenoid or acetabular component with complex geometry are disclosed. Surgical methods for the use of such reciprocating rasps are also disclosed.

Systems for and methods of preparing a sacroiliac joint for fusion

A surgical preparation tool for preparing a sacroiliac joint for a surgical procedure comprising a trial tool assembly and a cutting tool configured to releasably and slidably couple with the trial tool assembly, wherein the trial tool assembly is configured to guide the cutting tool during distal-proximal translation such that as the cutting tool distally advances relative to an implant trial of the trial tool assembly, at least a portion of a cutting element of the cutting tool extends generally over and perpendicularly outward from a first top surface of a body of the implant trial.

Devices and methods for preparing an intervertebral workspace

Tools adapted for spinal distraction are provided. More specifically, tools having an elongate shaft connected to a head portion are provided for imparting a force for displacing vertebral bodies. The tools may comprise features, such as textured surfaces or the ability to transmit pressure, for cleaning and preparing a spinal disc space for subsequent tools and procedures. A plurality or set of distraction tools is contemplated where the plurality of tools is made up of tools having various distinctions from one another. Such distinctions may be in the way of length, width, angle, and other geometric features or may comprise differences in materials or additional features.

COMBINED BONE TAP AND RASP

A system and method for providing a surgical instrument having a shaft with a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis, and a central lumen extending therethrough; and a tapered head at the distal end. The tapered head has a plurality of longitudinal channels, a plurality of threaded sections, and a plurality of lateral lumens. The plurality of longitudinal channels may form a plurality of flutes configured to cut bone, tissue, or both.

SURGICAL IMPACTOR ARRAYS

Systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for navigational arrays for attaching to surgical tools, the arrays comprising a frame comprising fiducials for detection by an optical navigation system, and a body having a first end for supporting the frame and a second end defining an opening, wherein the opening is aligned with a first axis of the surgical tool, wherein the opening engages a stationary surface adjacent to the surgical tool, and wherein the opening engages features disposed at predetermined even intervals on the stationary surface adapted to allow repositioning of the array from a first position to a second position, wherein the second position is at least one of a rotational offset or an axial offset from the first position. The stationary surface may be a step disposed on an adapter inserted into the surgical tool. The stationary surface may be a sheath covering a rotatable shaft inserted into the surgical tool. The stationary surface may be a sleeve disposed on the surgical tool. The arrays may be part of a computer-assisted surgical system.

METHOD AND SYSTEM INCLUDING SLEEVES AND BROACHES FOR SURGICALLY PREPARING THE PATIENT'S BONE

An orthopaedic surgical instrument system includes a first broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to a handle and a tapered body having a plurality of cutting teeth defined therein, and a second broach including a first end configured to be separately secured to the handle in place of the first broach, a first tapered body extending distally from a second end positioned opposite the first end, and a second tapered body extending distally from the first tapered body. The tapered body of the first broach and the first tapered body of the second broach have a first outer geometry and the second tapered body has a second outer geometry different from the first outer geometry.

FEMORAL HEAD RESTORATION
20230165595 · 2023-06-01 ·

A surgical instrument and method for assessing restoration of the femoral head centre is provided. The instrument comprising: a body having a first connector for attaching the body to a femoral part, and wherein the body defines a plurality of apertures therein, wherein each aperture corresponds to a respective femoral head centre arising from a respective corresponding femoral neck; and a gauge, wherein the gauge includes a pin at a first end and an arm extending transversely from the pin and wherein the pin is receivable in each of the plurality of apertures and the arm bears a scale indicating a distance from the pin. The approach seeks to provide a simple and/or easy to use approach to restoring the native femoral head position during a hip replacement surgical procedure.
