Robotic surgery planar cutting systems and methods
11602358 · 2023-03-14 · ·

Examples of robotically controlled planar cutting systems and methods for controlling cutting systems to prepare bone tissue in surgical procedures, are generally described herein. Applicable surgical procedures for the robotically controlled cutting systems and methods include procedures involving the preparation (e.g., removal, surfacing) of bone tissue, such as is performed in knee arthroplasties. In an example, a robotically controlled planar cutting system can include a housing, a cutting element disposed in the housing, and a cutting control mechanism in communication with a robotic controller to control operation of the cutting element to machine a planar surface. The cutting element can be exposed and retracted relative to the housing and can include a plurality of cutting implements arranged to machine the planar surface.

SYSTEMS, TARGETS, AND METHODS FOR OPTICAL REGISTRATION OF TOOLS

Described are systems, targets, and methods for registering a tool for use in optical tracking. A first target and a second target are attached to the tool, with the first target having a known spatial relationship to the tool or end effector of the tool. By determining a spatial feature of the first target and a pose of the second target, and using the known spatial relationship between the first target and the tool or end effector of the tool, a spatial relationship between the second target and the end effector can be determined. Subsequently the first target can be removed, and the end effector is trackable based on only tracking of the second target. In some implementations, the first target is removably couplable to the tool by the same interface by which the end effector is removably couplable to the tool.

A verification instrument configured to verify the location of a surgical end-effector, including: a body; a navigation element disposed and configured to represent a spatial location of the body; a first clip extending from the body configured to clip onto a tool; a length measurement portion disposed at a first angle from the body, wherein the length measurement portion is configured to contact a tool tip when the first clip is clipped onto the tool.

METHOD AND IMPLANT SYSTEM FOR SACROILIAC JOINT FIXATION AND FUSION

An improved method of fusing the sacroiliac joint and tools for accomplishing the same is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention is a method that uses an intra-articular joint fusion device for connecting the sacrum and ilium that includes creating a first incision in the patient's skin proximal to the patient's sacroiliac joint, inserting a surgical channel tool into the incision from the patient's posterior, creating a void in the sacroiliac joint, inserting a fusion implant into the void, the fusion implant having at least one fixation element for engagement with bone tissue in the articular surfaces of the sacrum and the ilium, and driving the fusion implant into the void such that the at least one fixation element engages with bone tissue in an articular surface of at least one of the sacrum and ilium, and the fusion implant fixes relative positions of the sacrum and ilium.

PEDICLE ANCHOR FOR USE IN TRANSLAMINAR PEDICLE ANCHOR SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND COMPONENT SET THEREOF
20230070201 · 2023-03-09 ·

A two-piece suspension pedicle anchor and its system and component-set is disclosed. The two-piece suspension pedicle anchor comprises a proximal piece and a distal piece that can rotate relatively. An external thread is arranged on the outer surface of the proximal piece, and a transverse through hole for an artificial ligament to pass through is arranged at the distal piece. As the two-piece suspension pedicle anchor is rotated and gradually locked into the bone, only the proximal piece is rotated, and the distal piece with the artificial ligament is pushed down but not rotated; in addition, the artificial ligament will be brought into the bone along with the distal piece and sandwiched between the outer surface of the proximal piece and the bone, that is, the artificial ligament will be sandwiched and fixed between the anchor-bone interface without wrapping around the outer surface of the proximal piece.

Vertebral end plate processing device
11471144 · 2022-10-18 · ·

A vertebral end plate processing device includes a handle, a vertical opening mechanism, a horizontal expansion mechanism and a processing mechanism. When the processing device is in a non-working state, the vertical opening mechanism and the horizontal expansion mechanism maintain a contracted state, and a processing portion is located within a vertical space between opening members. When the processing device is in a working state, the opening members of the vertical opening mechanism are in contact with a bone surface of a vertebral body and vertically open same. An arc-shaped expansion block of the horizontal expansion mechanism drives a conveying member for horizontal expansion so that the processing portion is horizontally removed from the vertical space of the opening members and is in contact with the bone surface of the vertebral body. A control portion controls the conveying member to move.

System and method for robotically assisting a surgical procedure

Methods and systems are provided for robotic assisted surgery. A robotic system includes a localizer, at least one controller, and a surgical robotic manipulator which separately and detachably receives an energy applicator and an implant insertion tool that detachably receives an implant specifically for knee, hip or shoulder replacement surgery. The at least one controller determines a location within a portion of a patient's anatomy in which to form a cavity for the implant. The surgical robotic manipulator is controlled to form the cavity with the energy applicator. The surgical robotic manipulator is then controlled to insert the implant into the cavity with the implant insertion tool.
