Hybrid gradient-interference hardcoatings
Durable and scratch resistant articles including low-reflectance optical coating with gradient portion. In some embodiments, an article comprises: a substrate comprising a first major surface; and an optical coating disposed over the first major surface. The optical coating comprises: a second major surface; a thickness; and a first gradient portion. A refractive index of the optical coating varies along a thickness of the optical coating. The difference between the maximum refractive index of the first gradient portion and the minimum refractive index of the first gradient portion is 0.05 or greater. The absolute value of the slope of the refractive index of the first gradient portion is 0.1/nm or less everywhere along the thickness of the first gradient portion. The article exhibits a single side photopic average light reflectance of 3% or less, and a maximum hardness from 10 GPa to 30 GPa.
Electrochromic film and an electrochromic device comprising the same
An electrochromic film and an electrochromic device including the electrochromic film are disclosed. The electrochromic film includes an electrochromic layer and a passivation layer on one side of the electrochromic layer. The coloration level of the electrochromic film is different from the coloration level of the passivation layer. The film may change optical properties as a result of electrochromism according to an electrochemical reaction. The electrochromic film and the electrochromic device have improved electrochromism, excellent durability, excellent color-switching speed, and stepwise control of optical properties.
COATED GLAZING
A coated glazing includes a transparent glass substrate and a coating located on the glass substrate. The coating is provided with at least the following layers in sequence starting from the glass substrate: a first layer having a refractive index of more than 1.6, an optional second layer having a refractive index that is less than the refractive index of the first layer, a third layer based on tin dioxide, a fourth layer based on an oxide of silicon, and a fifth layer based on titanium dioxide, wherein the fifth layer is photocatalytic.
HARDENED OPTICAL WINDOWS FOR LIDAR APPLICATIONS AT 850-950NM
A window for a sensing system is provided. The window includes a substrate having a predetermined thickness and an index of refraction for electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of 905 nm and a layered film disposed on the substrate, the layered film including alternating layers of a high refractive index material and a lower refractive index material, the high refractive index material having a higher refractive index than the lower refractive index material, wherein each layer of the alternating layers of the layered film has a thickness, and the thicknesses of the alternating layers are configured so that the window has a transmittance of at least 80% for electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength within the range of 850 nm to 950 nm. The window further includes a hardness of at least 10 GPa, at the layered film, as measured by the Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test.
TRANSPARENT GLASS-CERAMIC ARTICLES WITH RETAINED STRENGTH AND DISPLAY DEVICES WITH THE SAME
A transparent article is described herein that includes: a glass-ceramic substrate comprising first and second primary surfaces opposing one another and a crystallinity of at least 40% by weight; and an optical film structure disposed on the first primary surface. The optical film structure comprises a plurality of alternating high refractive index (RI) and low RI layers and a scratch-resistant layer. The article also exhibits an average photopic transmittance of greater than 80% and a maximum hardness of greater than 10 GPa, as measured by a Berkovich Hardness Test over an indentation depth range from about 100 nm to about 500 nm. The glass-ceramic substrate comprises an elastic modulus of greater than 85 GPa and a fracture toughness of greater than 0.8 MPa.Math.√m. Further, the optical film structure exhibits a residual compressive stress of ≥700 MPa and an elastic modulus of ≥140 GPa.
SOLAR-CONTROL GLAZING UNIT COMPRISING A LAYER OF TITANIUM NITRIDE
A glass article having anti-sun properties includes a glass substrate having a stack of layers, which includes, successively from the surface of the substrate: a first module M.sub.1 having a layer based on a dielectric material with a thickness e.sub.1 or of a set of layers, a layer TN.sub.1 including titanium nitride with a thickness of between 2 nanometers and 80 nanometers, a second module M.sub.2 including a layer based on a dielectric material with a thickness e.sub.2 or of a set of layers based on dielectric materials with a cumulative thickness e.sub.2, an intermediate layer including at least one element selected from silicon, aluminum, titanium or a mixture of at least two of these elements is deposited between the layer TN.sub.1 and the first module M.sub.1 and/or between the layer TN.sub.1 and the second module M.sub.2, the intermediate layer having a thickness of between 0.2 nm and 6 nm.
HEAD UP DISPLAY SYSTEM
A Head up display system includes a projection light source, laminated glass, and a transparent nano film. The transparent nano film includes at least one laminated structure consisting of a high refractive-index layer and a low refractive-index layer, where the high refractive-index layer and the low refractive-index layer is deposited sequentially outwards from the surface of the inner glass pane. The projection light source is configured to generate P-polarized light. A ratio of near-red light reflectivity R1 at wavelengths ranging from 580 nm to 680 nm of the laminated glass with the transparent nano film to near-blue light reflectivity R2 at wavelengths ranging from 420 nm to 470 nm of the laminated glass with the transparent nano film is R1/R2=1.0˜2.0.
Method of making heat treated coated article using carbon based coating and protective film
A method of making a heat treated (HT) substantially transparent coated article to be used in shower door applications, window applications, tabletop applications, or any other suitable applications. For example, certain embodiments relate to a method of making a coated article including a step of heat treating a glass substrate coated with at least layer of or including carbon (e.g., diamond-like carbon (DLC)) and an overlying protective film thereon. The protective film may be of or include both (a) an oxygen blocking or barrier layer, and (b) a release layer, with the release layer being located between at least the carbon based layer and the oxygen blocking layer. The release layer is of or includes zinc oxynitride (e.g., ZnO.sub.xN.sub.z). Following and/or during heat treatment (e.g., thermal tempering, or the like) the protective film may be entirely or partially removed. Other embodiments of this invention relate to the pre-HT coated article, or the post-HT coated article.
FLEXIBLE DISPLAYING SUBSTRATE AND FABRICATING METHOD THEREOF, AND DISPLAYING DEVICE
A flexible displaying substrate includes: a first flexible film layer; a first barrier layer provided on a first surface of the first flexible film layer, and the first barrier layer is a constant-thickness film layer; a second barrier layer provided on one side of the first barrier layer away from the first flexible film layer; and a second flexible film layer is provided between the first barrier layer and the second barrier layer; wherein a surface of the second barrier layer closer to the first flexible film layer is provided with a slot, and a first orthographic projection of the second flexible film layer on the first flexible film layer and a second orthographic projection of the slot on the first flexible film layer at least partially overlap.
Materials and methods for passivation of metal-plated through glass vias
A through-glass via (TGV) formed in a glass substrate may comprise a metal plating layer formed in the TGV. The TGV may have a three-dimensional (3D) topology through the glass substrate and the metal plating layer conformally covering the 3D topology. The TGV may further comprise a barrier layer disposed over the metal plating layer, and a metallization layer disposed over the barrier layer. The metallization layer may be electrically coupled to the metal plating layer through the barrier layer. The barrier layer may comprise a metal-nitride film disposed on the metal plating layer that is electrically coupled to the metallization layer. The barrier layer may comprise a metal film disposed over the metal plating layer and over a portion of glass surrounding the TGV, and an electrically-insulating film disposed upon the metal film, the electrically-insulating film completely overlapping the metal plating layer and partially overlapping the metal film.
