Devices and methods for targeted delivery of a substance
A device for applying a bubble of a substance to a tissue surface, the device comprising a cannula, a distal tip at the distal end portion of the cannula, the distal tip having a bubble support surface and an exit port extending through the bubble support surface, an expansion fluid passageway extending through the cannula to the exit port, a source of an expansion fluid and an actuator therefor. In some arrangements, the distal tip can be configured to support a layer of the substance thereon over the distal port and the device can be configured such that the advancement of the expansion fluid from the fluid source through the exit port causes at least one bubble of the substance to form on the distal tip, wherein the at least a portion of the bubble can be transferred to the tissue surface to treat a defect on the tissue surface.
Method and apparatus for dermatological treatment
Exemplary methods and systems can be provided for resurfacing of skin that include formation of a plurality of small holes, e.g., having widths greater than about 0.2 mm and less than about 0.7 mm or 0.5 mm, using a mechanical apparatus. Compressive and/or tensile forces can then be applied to the treated region of skin as the damage heals to facilitate hole closure, and provide enhanced and/or directional shrinkage of the treated skin area.
Device and method for the treatment of telangiectasias
A device for destroying the blood vessels forming telangiectasias includes: a single blade; and a device body, the body having firstly a gripping part and secondly a support for the blade; and a stop situated at a distance of between 0.1 and 1 cm from a distal end of the blade limiting the penetration of the blade, in the thickness of the skin, to a depth of less than 1 cm.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING THE SKIN
According to some embodiments, a method of treating a skin surface of a subject comprises heating a skin surface, abrading native skin tissue of a subject using a microdermabrasion device, wherein using the microdermabrasion device comprises moving the microdermabrasion device relative to the skin surface while simultaneously delivering at least one treatment fluid to the skin surface being treated and cooling the abraded skin surface.
System and method for plaque serration
A device and method for intravascular treatment of atherosclerotic plaque prior to balloon angioplasty which microperforates the plaque with small sharp spikes acting as serrations for forming cleavage lines or planes in the plaque. The spikes may also be used to transport medication into the plaque. The plaque preparation treatment enables subsequent angioplasty to be performed at low balloon pressures of about 4 atmospheres or less, reduces dissections, and avoids injury to the arterial wall. The subsequent angioplasty may be performed with a drug-eluting balloon (DEB) or drug-coated balloon (DCB). The pre-angioplasty perforation procedure enables more drug to be absorbed during DEB or DCB angioplasty, and makes the need for a stent less likely. Alternatively, any local incidence of plaque dissection after balloon angioplasty may be treated by applying a thin, ring-shaped tack at the dissection site only, rather than applying a stent over the overall plaque site.
SURGICAL TOOLS AND METHODS FOR THEIR USE
Surgical tools and kits for performing methods include a grommet with cylindrical shaft, cutting tip, annular flange with suture retaining anchoring fixture; a grommet jig for extending between adjacent grommets and guiding a needle therebetween; a family of needles with single and double pointed ends, reinforced eyelets, stops to limit inadvertent exiting, double shaft construction with a longitudinal gap and sharpened, slicing ends, including a “J” shape embodiment; a bone anchor with ring to secure sutures about a patient's clavicle; a tissue dissector having radially extending cones to nick taut connecting tissues; a tissue rasp having a series of crisscrossing grooves along an end; a tissue mesher comprising one or more blocks having a matrix of holes for clamping a plurality of needles and a supporting framework; and a kit device and a method of surgically inserting an internal mesh brassiere under the breast skin.
MICRONEEDLE SYSTEM FOR ADMINISTERING LIQUID FORMULATIONS
The present invention relates to a microneedle system (MNS) for intradermally delivering solutions or formulations. The invention relates to a microneedle system, comprising a cover element (1), an active substance container (2), a frame (3), a microneedle array (MNA) (4) and a base plate (5), wherein the microneedle array (MNA) (4) is connected to the frame (3), and the base plate (5) has an opening for receiving the microneedle array (4), the cover element (1) and the base plate (5) are movably connected to one another, the base plate (5) is joined to a surgical tape (6), and the frame (3) and the base plate (5) can be linearly displaced with respect to one another.
The MNS according to the invention is suitable for intradermally administering medicinal drugs, active substances, pharmaceutical or cosmetic compositions or other substances to an individual, and preferably to a patient, over an extended period.
