Low-reflection coating glass
The present invention provides low-reflection coating glass in which a dielectric layer having a higher refractive index and a dielectric layer having a lower refractive index are stacked alternately on a glass substrate.
Multi-pane electrochromic windows
Window units, for example insulating glass units (IGU's), that have at least two panes, each pane having an electrochromic device thereon, are described. Two optical state devices on each pane of a dual-pane window unit provide window units having four optical states. Window units described allow the end user a greater choice of how much light is transmitted through the electrochromic window. Also, by using two or more window panes, each with its own electrochromic device, registered in a window unit, visual defects in any of the individual devices are negated by virtue of the extremely small likelihood that any of the visual defects will align perfectly and thus be observable to the user.
COATED ARTICLE INCLUDING METAL ISLAND LAYER(S) FORMED USING STOICHIOMETRY CONTROL, AND/OR METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Certain example embodiments relate to techniques for improving the uniformity of, and/or conformance to a desired pattern for, metal island layers (MILs) formed on a substrate (e.g., a glass or other substrate), and/or associated products. Certain example embodiments form MILs using a laser or other energy source or magnetic field assisted technique, e.g., to compensate for non-uniformities that otherwise likely would result in the MIL diverging from its desired configuration. For example, a laser or other energy source may introduce heat onto a substrate, enable pulsed laser deposition, raster a target including the MIL metal to be deposited, raster a substrate where the MIL is to be formed, etc. These and/or other techniques may be used to enable the MIL to be formed on the substrate in a desired pattern, e.g., by compensating for implicit non-uniformities of the substrate and/or by selectively creating non-uniformities in how the MIL is formed.
Coated article with IR reflecting layer(s) and method of making same
A coated article is provided with at least one infrared (IR) reflecting layer. The IR reflecting layer may be of silver or the like. In certain example embodiments, a titanium oxide layer is provided over the IR reflecting layer, and it has been found that this surprisingly results in an IR reflecting layer with a lower specific resistivity (SR) thereby permitting thermal properties of the coated article to be improved.
Multilayer heat rejection coating
There is provided a multilayer coating comprising a plurality of layers comprising a) one or more layers of an elemental transition metal; b) one or more layers of an elemental metalloid; and c) two or more layers of an oxide; characterized in that the transition metal and metalloid layers are between the oxide layers and the plurality of layers does not need to contain an additional transparent conductive film (TCF). The multilayer coatings show high transparency in the visible light range combined with heat shielding without the need of transparent conductive oxide which have been previously used to achieve these properties. The multilayers can be produced with conventional physical vapor deposition methods on glass and polymer substrates. The coatings may therefore be used for applications on windows, plastic sheets and window shields. The invention relates also to the process for making the multilayer coatings, articles comprising them and their use in building and other applications.
Opaque white coating with non-conductive mirror
An opaque cover is provided for a capacitive sensor. The cover includes a transparent substrate, and at least one white coating layer including white pigments disposed over at least one portion of the transparent substrate. The cover also includes a non-conductive mirror structure disposed over the at least one white coating layer. The non-conductive mirror structure includes a number of first dielectric layers having a first refractive index interleaved with second dielectric layers having a second refractive index. The first and second dielectric layers have dielectric constants below a threshold.
ARTICLES WITH PATTERNED COATINGS
Embodiments of an article including a substrate and a patterned coating are provided. In one or more embodiments, when a strain is applied to the article, the article exhibits a failure strain of 0.5% or greater. Patterned coating may include a particulate coating or may include a discontinuous coating. The patterned coating of some embodiments may cover about 20% to about 75% of the surface area of the substrate. Methods for forming such articles are also provided.
ANTI-REFLECTIVE TRANSPARENT OLEOPHOBIC SURFACES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF
A method for fabricating a structured surface, includes: providing a transparent substrate; disposing a dewettable film over the substrate; annealing the dewettable film to form a plurality of islands; forming a coating over the plurality of islands; and etching the plurality of islands to form a structured array of surface features in the coating. A structured polymer and/or structured glass, includes: a structured array of surface features, such that the structured array of surface features has at least one dimension in a range of 0.5 nm to 5000 nm.
BLACK-COLOURED ARTICLE
Black-coloured article (1) which is not a photovoltaic device, comprising:—a substantially transparent substrate (3);—a substantially transparent textured layer (5) provided upon a first surface (3a) of said substrate, said textured layer (5) having a textured surface (5a) oriented away from said substrate (3);—an absorption layer (7) comprising silicon-germanium alloy, said absorption layer (7) being situated upon said textured surface (5a) of said textured layer (5).
Manufacturing of perovskite films
The present disclosure relates to a mixture that includes a perovskite precursor, a solvent, and an additive that includes at least one of a first amine, a ketone, an aldehyde, a non-nucleophilic sterically hindered base, and/or a halogen-containing compound, where, upon removal of the solvent and the additive, the perovskite precursor is capable of being transformed into a perovskite.
