11633272 · 2023-04-25 · ·

A thrombus engagement tool having a flexible shaft, a clot engagement tip, and a handle. The engagement tip may include one or more radially outwardly extending structures such as a helical thread. The helical thread can be advanced through a catheter to engage a clot. The handle may be configured to be rotated by hand. When the handle is rotated, the helical thread of the engagement tip can rotate in the same direction thereby allowing the helical threat to engage the clot. The helical thread can wrap around the flexible shaft at least about one, two, or four or more full revolutions, but in some cases no more than about ten or no more than about six revolutions.

Self-rolling apparatuses and methods for removing material from a body lumen

Self-rolling mechanical apparatuses for removing material from a body lumen include a tractor tube portion that rolls and inverts over itself in a continuous motion, tractor-like, to draw material into the tractor tube, wherein the tractor tube rolls over itself without requiring any additional internal support at the distal-facing region of the tractor tube.

Tubular thrombectomy devices

An apparatus (20) includes a tube (22), configured to advance to a blockage, and including a proximal hub (24) configured to connect to a suction-applying device such that, following the advancement of the tube to the blockage, a suction force generated by the suction-applying device is applied, via the tube, to the blockage, a shaft (26), including first and second electrically-conductive circumferential portions (28, 30), configured to pass through the tube, and first and second electrically-conductive elements (34, 38), configured to connect the first and second electrically-conductive circumferential portions to respective terminals of a power source (36). The first electrically-conductive circumferential portion is configured to attract the blockage when a voltage is applied by the power source, via the first and second electrically-conductive elements, between the first and second electrically-conductive circumferential portions, such that the blockage is anchored to the shaft while the suction force is applied to the blockage.

SNARE FOR REMOVAL OF IMPLANTED CARDIAC LEADS

The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices and the use of medical devices for the treatment of vascular conditions. Particularly, the present disclosure provides devices and methods for using a snaring system to remove an implanted lead from the vasculature. A snaring system comprises an outer sheath (710) having a lumen; an inner sheath (705); a pusher (745) disposed within the lumen of the sheath, wherein the pusher comprises a longitudinal axis; a closed loop (720) having an opening, wherein the closed loop comprises a proximal extended portion, an S-curve portion and a distal extended portion, wherein the proximal extended portion of the closed loop is coupled to the pusher, wherein the proximal extended portion is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis to the pusher, wherein the pusher and the closed loop are slidable relative to the inner sheath, whereupon being in a deployed configuration, the closed loop is disposed distally of the sheath and the S-curve portion is disposed substantially perpendicular to the proximal extended portion, wherein the S-curve portion comprises a first radius and a second radius, wherein the first radius is closer to the proximal extended portion relative to the distal extended portion, wherein the second radius is closer to the distal extended portion relative to the proximal extended portion, wherein the first radius is greater than the second radius; and a threader (725) fixedly coupled to the inner sheath, whereupon the closed loop being pulled proximally, the closed loop collapses over the threader and the threader is disposed within the opening of the closed loop. In one embodiment, two opposing closed loops are provided.

CATHETER WITH ELECTRICALLY ACTUATED EXPANDABLE MOUTH

Devices described herein include an actuated clot retrieval catheter system. The system includes a catheter having a metallic region positioned at the distal tip of the catheter. The metallic region includes at least two abutting metals in a bimetallic coil configuration. The bimetallic coil expands to form a seal with the inner wall of a vessel. In some examples, the bimetallic coil also captures a clot for removal from the vessel. The bimetallic coil is manufactured from metal-based materials having different thermal expansion coefficients. Conductive wires extend along a longitudinal axis of the catheter from an electrical current controller to at least a portion of the metallic region. Electrical current to the metallic region causes the bimetallic coil to transition from a tight configuration to an expanded configuration and remove the clot.

Devices and methods for ocular surgery

Devices, systems, and methods for performing an ophthalmic procedure in an eye are disclosed. The devices include a hand-held portion and a distal, elongate member coupled to the hand-held portion having a lumen operatively coupled to a vacuum source. A drive mechanism operatively coupled to the elongate member is configured to oscillate the elongate member. When in use, the device is configured to aspirate ocular material from the eye through the lumen. The drive mechanism retracts the elongate member with a retraction speed profile and advances the elongate member with an extension speed profile. The retraction speed profile is different from the extension speed profile.
