The present invention provides a method, including: introducing an instrument into a cavity of a subject; obtaining a first image from a first imaging modality; identifying on the first image from the first imaging modality at least one element, obtaining a second image from a second imaging modality; generating a compatible virtual image from the first image from the first imaging modality; mapping planning data on the compatible virtual image; coarse registering of the second image from the second imaging modality to the first image from the first imaging modality; identifying at least one element of the mapped planning data from the compatible virtual image; identifying a corresponding element on the second imaging modality; mapping the corresponding element on the second imaging modality; fine registering of the second image from the second imaging modality to the first image from the first imaging modality; generating a third image.

ELECTROMAGNETIC NAVIGATION REGISTRATION USING ULTRASOUND
20180140359 · 2018-05-24 ·

A method for electromagnetic navigation registration is provided. The method includes storing, in a memory, a mapping that associates electromagnetic field-based signal values with corresponding locations within a three-dimensional model of a luminal network. An ultrasound signal is received from an ultrasound probe. Based on the ultrasound signal, an ultrasound-based location of a target in a patient relative to the three-dimensional model is determined. At least a portion of the mapping is updated based on the ultrasound-based location of the target.

Device for extracting nasal mucus or earwax
12150837 · 2024-11-26 ·

A device for removing mucus from a nostril or earwax from an ear canal is disclosed herein. The device includes a light assembly, the light assembly including a light emitting device, the light emitting device configured to emit light so as to illuminate at least a portion of a nostril or an ear canal; and an extraction portion configured to be coupled to the light assembly, the extraction portion including an extraction element and a stop located adjacent to the extraction element, the extraction element sized and configured to fit within the nostril or the ear canal for extracting mucus or earwax, and the stop sized to prevent insertion of the stop into the nostril or the ear canal and limit the depth that the extraction element is able to be inserted into the nostril or the ear canal.

HIGH RESISTANCE IMPLANTED BRONCHIAL ISOLATION DEVICES AND METHODS
20180092731 · 2018-04-05 · ·

Disclosed are methods and devices for regulating fluid flow to and from a region of a patient's lung, such as to achieve a desired fluid flow dynamic to a lung region during respiration and/or to induce collapse in one or more lung regions. Pursuant to an exemplary procedure, an identified region of the lung is targeted for treatment. The targeted lung region is then bronchially isolated to regulate airflow into and/or out of the targeted lung region through one or more bronchial passageways that feed air to the targeted lung region. An exemplary flow control device is configured to block fluid flow in the inspiratory direction and the expiratory direction at normal breathing pressures and allow fluid flow in the expiratory direction at coughing pressures.

GENETICALLY-ASSOCIATED CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE TREATMENT
20180028193 · 2018-02-01 ·

A method for treating a genetically associated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. At least one implant is advanced into an airway of a lung having a genetically associated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The at least one implant is delivered into the lung to increase tension of the lung and thereby improve breathing function of the lung.

Laryngoscope blade and method for producing a laryngoscope blade
12178409 · 2024-12-31 · ·

A method for producing a laryngoscope blade and a laryngoscope blade including a base blade and a tube which is arranged at least in part on an outer face of the base blade, extends approximately in a longitudinal direction of the base blade and is firmly connected to the base blade, wherein the tube, at its side facing toward the base blade, has at least in part a longitudinally extending corrugation which, with the outer face of the base blade, forms a longitudinally extending cavity, wherein the tube is connected to the base blade by a respective soldering seam in the lateral edge regions of the corrugation.

NAVIGABLE ENDOBRONCHIAL TOOL TO ACCESS TISSUE OUTSIDE A BRONCHUS
20170202543 · 2017-07-20 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for accessing tissue outside a bronchus and marking the location of a biopsy are provided. The method includes loading a navigation plan into a navigation system with the navigation plan including a CT volume generated from a plurality of CT images, inserting an extended working channel (EWC) including a location sensor into a patient's airways, registering a sensed location of the EWC with the CT volume of the navigation plan, and selecting a target in the navigation plan located outside the periphery of a patient's airways. The method further includes navigating the EWC and location sensor proximate the target, inserting a piercing catheter into the EWC, piercing through an airway wall to reach the target, storing a position of the location sensor in the navigation system as a biopsy location, and performing a biopsy at the stored biopsy location.

SPIRAL SLIT ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE
20170143924 · 2017-05-25 ·

An endotracheal tube comprising a flexible hollow tube with a spiral slit traversing a substantial length of the tube. The slit has edges that separate to create an opening by which the tube may be spiral wound onto a medical device, such as a fiber optic bronchoscope, that is in use in a pharynx passage. The angle of the slit is preferably in the range of 30-60 degrees.
