SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRANSNASAL DILATION OF PASSAGEWAYS IN THE EAR, NOSE OR THROAT
A dilation catheter device and system for dilating an opening in a paranasal sinus and/or other passageways within the ear, nose or throat is disclosed. A dilation catheter device and system is constructed in a manner that facilitates ease of use by the operator and, in at least some cases, allows the dilation procedure to be performed by a single operator. Additionally, the dilation catheter device and system may be useable in conjunction with an endoscope and/or a fluoroscope to provide for easy manipulation and positioning of the devices and real time visualization of the entire procedure or selected portions thereof. In some embodiments, shaft markers are disposed on a shaft of the dilation catheter and have a light color to contrast with a dark color of the dilation catheter shaft. The high contrast between the markers and catheter shaft allows for easy viewing of the markers in low light and operation conditions.
NOSE CLEANING ASSEMBLY
A nose cleaning assembly for removing mucous and hardened deposits from a nostril includes at least one rod. The at least one rod is configured to be grasped in digits of a hand of a user to selectively position opposing ends of the at least one rod to into a nostril of the user. At least one swab is coupled to a respective opposing end of the at least one rod. At least one plate is coupled to a respective opposing end of the at least one rod. The at least one swab is configured to absorb mucous that is positioned in the nostril to remove the mucous from the nostril. The at least one plate is configured to scrape hardened deposits that are positioned in the nostril to remove the hardened deposits from the nostril.
Irrigation and aspiration device and method
Irrigation and/or aspiration devices and methods may be configured to aspirate and irrigate alone, sequentially, or concurrently. The devices and methods may provide a base with a removable head, and adapted for partial or complete separation of the irrigation and aspiration functions. The devices and methods can be configured to aspirate and/or irrigate the nasal and sinus cavities. The devices and methods may be manually and/or automatically controlled. The devices and methods may include removable, and/or replaceable, and/or refillable, and easily cleanable reservoirs for aspirant and irrigant. The device head and/or aspirant reservoir may comprise a diagnostic device, i.e., test device and/or container after use of the devices and methods.
Devices and methods for protecting an internal channel of a subject
Devices and methods for protecting an internal channel of a subject are disclosed. In one example embodiment, a device for protecting an internal channel of a subject includes a first end portion having a first diameter and defining a first opening, and a second end portion opposite the first end portion having a second diameter and defining a second opening that is in communication with the first opening. A body portion is defined between the first end portion and second end portion. The body portion defines an interior passage between the first opening and second opening, and is expandable along a longitudinal axis from a collapsed state to an expanded state.
SYSTEM FOR TREATING AN EPISTAXIS
The invention relates to a system for treating an epistaxis, comprising: a compressible body designed to come into contact with walls of a nasal cavity of a patient, or surrounded by a veil of hemostatic properties; an envelope designed to envelop the compressible body; and a compression device for compressing the compressible body in the envelope, said compression device being designed so as to compress or release the compressible body.
NAVIGABLE SUCTION INSTRUMENT WITH COAXIAL ANNULAR SENSOR
An apparatus includes a cannula assembly and a sensor assembly. The cannula assembly includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a first lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The cannula is formed of a rigid material. The sensor assembly includes a sensor and a communication wire. The sensor is fixed to the cannula assembly. The communication wire is in electrical communication with the sensor. The communication wire extends along a length of the cannula assembly exterior to the first lumen.
Methods of locating and treating tissue in a wall defining a bodily passage
Devices, kits, and methods of treatment are described. More particularly, methods of treating tissue of a passage wall defining a bodily passage, such as a sinus cavity, airway, or sinus passage are described. An exemplary method utilizes an elongate member having an elongate member proximal end, elongate member distal end, and an elongate member body that defines a curve.
Rhinotillexis Apparatus
A rhinotillexis apparatus, devised for controlled insertion into a nasal cavity for collection and removal of mucus therefrom, includes a spatulate head member having a first surface and a second surface convergent at an anterior edge, a neck portion, a shield member, and a handle member for dexterous wielding in the hands of a user. The head member is tautly overlain with an absorbent layer. The shield member prevents over-insertion of the head member into the nasal cavity and shields a user's hands from contamination with mucus during use. Disposal of the apparatus after single-use decreases potential for cross-contamination.
