Increased axial load carrying sheathed irrigating balloon catheter
20180280041 · 2018-10-04 ·

A sheathed tubular semi-rigid balloon catheter for performing probing, irrigation, dilation, suction and potential intubation of the nasolacrimal system or paranasal sinus system to treat for stenosis or obstruction. The catheter includes a sheathed tubular probe portion through which a tracer fluid can be injected and through which suctioning of blood or other material can be conducted. The sheath portion of the device can have a distal segment that is inflated in order to dilate parts the nasolacrimal or paranasal sinus system. The high axial load accommodating catheter tool includes a more secure and inexpensively manufactured bond between the metallic semi-rigid tube of the probe portion and the plastic hand-manipulable, multi-connector hub using an enlarged bonding collar.

GUIDEWIRE WITH OPTICS TUBE CONTAINING CORE WIRE

An apparatus includes an optics tube extending from a proximal end to a distal end and a distal tip member positioned proximate the distal end of the optics tube. The optics tube includes a cladding material, a core material encased by the cladding material and configured to transmit light from the proximal end of optics tube to the distal end, and a lumen defined by the core material. A core wire is disposed in the lumen. The core wire is configured to prevent longitudinal stretching of the optics tube.

Nasal implants, delivery tools, systems, and methods of use

Nasal implants are provided that have a planar type profile with open spaces through portions of the planar type profile. The nasal implant can be compressible along one or more dimensions of the nasal implant, such as the width and length of the planar type profile. Delivery tools for deploying the nasal implants within the nasal tissue are also provided. Methods for deploying the nasal implants within the nasal tissue of the patient are also provided.

A device for removing a substance from a nasal cavity, the device having a handle; a working tip; and a stopper connected to the working tip, the stopper being operative to limit a depth of insertion of the working tip into the nasal cavity; the distal end of the handle has a working tip engagement feature configured to receive a handle engagement feature of the working tip to connect the working tip and the handle; the working tip includes a stopper engagement section and the stopper includes a working tip engagement section; and the stopper engagement section and the working tip engagement section include a corresponding helical threaded connection so that the stopper is rotatable about the working tip to increase and decrease a distance between the working tip and the stopper.

THERAPEUTIC USES AND METHODS OF DELIVERY OF VISCOUS COMPOSITIONS DURING PRE AND POST SURGICAL PERIODS, FOR TREATMENT OF RESPONSIVE DISEASES OF THE EAR, NOSE AND THROAT

A medication or combination of medications for the treatment of a disease involving the sinuses is incorporated into a sterile medical gel. The viscosity of the gel or the adhesion of the gel to the patient's sinus cavity allows the gel to be maintained in the cavity for a sufficient length of time for treatment of the affected area, thereby reducing the amount of wasted medication that would otherwise result from other topical methods. In one embodiment, the medicated gel comprises a sterile viscous gel having a viscosity sufficient to be maintained within a paranasal sinus cavity after insertion, and a medication dispersed in the sterile viscous gel.

NASAL SWAB APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR APPLYING A CLEANING SOLUTION

A nasal swab kit for cleaning and sanitizing human nose nasal vestibules includes a pair of nasal swab devices, each of the devices having a body from which two spaced apart prongs extend, and each of the prongs having a free end to which a swab is attached. The swabs of a first of the devices are saturated with at least one cleaning ingredient selected from sterile water, glycerin, sodium chloride, sodium benzoate, PEG 60 hydrogenated castor oil, cocamidopropyl betaine and lavender oil. The swabs of a second of the devices are saturated with a sanitizing ingredient such as isopropyl alcohol or mupirocin. The kit includes a first packet inside which the first device is sealed and a second packet inside which the second device is sealed wherein the packets are conjoined at a perforated seam.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING NASAL CAVITIES

A device for cleaning nasal membranes comprising a head that is inserted into a nostril. Fluid is pumped from a reservoir onto the nasal membrane. The head rotates to remove debris from the membrane. The sprayed fluid and debris is suctioned through inlets into a suction chamber.

Apparatus and method to secure turbinate to nasal septum

A method of securing a turbinate to a nasal septum includes positioning an instrument in a nostril. The turbinate and nasal septum are pierced. The instrument is used to urge a barbed suture through the pierced turbinate and nasal septum. The turbinate is medialized against the nasal septum by urging the turbinate against the septum. The barbed suture holds the turbinate in a medialized state against the nasal septum.
