A surgical instrument includes a shaft defining an axis, an end effector coupled to a distal portion thereof, a fixed handle coupled to a proximal portion thereof, a drive bar, a movable handle, and a linkage. The drive bar is disposed within the shaft and operably coupled to the end effector. The movable handle is movable relative to the fixed handle between open and closed positions and is coupled to the drive bar via a first pin on the axis. The linkage includes a first end portion coupled to the movable handle via a second pin and a second end portion coupled to the shaft via a third pin on the axis. In the closed position of the movable handle, the second pin is disposed in a near-over-center position relative to the axis to reduce a force necessary to maintain the movable handle in the closed position.

In one embodiment, the deflection control profile has one or more sets of corresponding abutment surfaces, at least one set of which is not contacting each other when the inner profile is in the unclamped position and which is contacting each other when the inner profile is in the clamped position. In one embodiment, the surgical clamp jaw defines one or more flexion assistance voids, wherein at least one of the one or more flexion assistance voids is in contact with a gap between one of the one or more sets of corresponding abutment surfaces.

A hand tool has a pivot connection pivotally attaching a first arm to a second arm, with the pivot connection fixed relative to the first arm and movable to first and second positions relative to the second arm. A spring urges the pivot connection into the first position. When jaws on the front ends of the arms clamp tissue with force greater than a pre-set threshold, the spring force is overcome and the jaws may move linearly apart, allowing for more uniform clamping of the tissue. The first arm may have an arm spring extending between a front segment pivotally attached to a rear segment of the first arm.

In yet another aspect of a surgical tool, a pressure sensor is mounted to a pancreas-compressing surface and a displacement transducer or sensor is mounted to and/or located within a handle coupled to the surface, and an electronic controller is mounted to and/or located within the handle for calculating a hardness of a pancreas and/or other organ.

TISSUE REMOVAL INSTRUMENT

Resected bone and/or tissue removal instruments and related methods are disclosed. The instruments include a first elongate member including a first head portion with a front edge and a first handle portion. The instrument further includes second elongate member rotatably coupled to the first elongate member at a first rotation point, the second member including a second handle portion and an end portion. The instrument also includes a third elongate member rotatably coupled to the first elongate member at a second rotation point, the third member including a second head portion and an end portion. The end portions of the second and third members are rotatably coupled at a third movable rotation point positioned between the first and second rotation points. The second head portion includes an interior surface with a front cutting tooth defining a free end of the second head portion.

PUNCHING-TYPE IRIDOTOMY INSTRUMENT

The present invention relates to a punching-type iridotomy instrument, and more particularly, to a punching-type iridotomy instrument which, in iridectomy, increases the size and positioning accuracy iris incision through structural improvement in a perforation method, thereby shortening the surgery time and facilitating the convenience of surgical procedures. According to the present invention, the punching-type iridotomy instrument includes a grip manipulation part configured to be manipulated to be opened or closed by a user while being held by the user's hand, an extension shaft extending from the grip manipulation part, and a punching operating unit extending from the extension shaft and configured to perform an operation of forming a hole in a predetermined site of a peripheral portion of an iris in conjunction with an operation of the grip manipulation part performed by the user's manipulation, in which the grip manipulation part includes a first round shaft extending from a rear side of the extension shaft and having a first finger grip ring formed at an end of the first round shaft and configured to be fitted with the user's thumb, a second round shaft hingedly coupled to a predetermined position on the extension shaft by a pivot pin and having a second finger grip ring formed at an end of the second round shaft and configured to be fitted with the user's ring finger, the second round shaft being configured to implement a rotational operation related to a motion of the ring finger fitted into the second finger grip ring, a spring disposed between the first and second round shafts and configured to exert elasticity for pushing the second round shaft, and a wire configured to connect the second round shaft and the punching operating unit while passing through the extension shaft and operate the punching operating unit in conjunction with a rotational operation of the second round shaft.

MEDICAL STAPLER

A medical stapler includes a first and a second grippers that are provided so as to be capable of opening/closing with respect to each other, and that can grip tissue therebetween. The first gripper includes a first contact surface being made to come into firm contact with one side of the tissue, and an ejection hole that is provided in the first contact surface and from which a staple is ejected. The second gripper includes a second contact surface being made to come into firm contact with the other side of the tissue, and an anvil portion provided in the second contact surface and having a curved surface that causes a needle portion of the staple to be bent. The first and second grippers are provided so as to allow relative positions thereof to be adjusted in a tangential direction of the curved surface.
